  1. Bly, I live in the belly of the Brewers' beast. They are still celebrating the 1982 DEFEAT with parades, ceremonies, plaques, and effusive testimonials. They will be unbearable if they ever win a World Series. Heaven help me...
  2. To my chagrin, the Brewers have been touched by God!
  3. Some losses hurt more than others of course...and this was pretty bad. Very nice to get to Skubal, but then it's 8 goose eggs and that's unacceptable. Clearly, a win in the 10th was a very near thing with just a modicum of competence. You almost have to be trying to, to mess things up as badly as the Twins did tonight during Manfred Time.
  4. Apparently he has never attempted that in his entire career--not once! Is that possible?
  5. Four hits in two full games against the mediocre Yankees...do I have that right?
  6. David, I’m bailing out my house here in suburban Milwaukee after our version of a monsoon, but am buoyed by a thrilling Twins’ victory and the heroics of the spunky Luke K. I have to agree completely about Mickey G.: his bunting fail should be the absolute last straw despite his “value” as a 3rd string catcher! Nothing against him personally but that sac attempt really was comical…and he gets paid to do this.
  7. darwin...the comparison of Keaschall to Gaetti seems apt to some extent, and yes, he does appear to have a "fast bat." Unlike Gaetti, however, I can't see Keaschall heading into the tunnel to smoke "heaters" four or five times a game! I just can't see that...
  8. How sweet it is! Love Zebby, and he looks a lot like the kid who ran out from the Skelly station in 1958 with a rag flying from his pocket to "fill-er-up" and check the tires and oil. No, he really does!
  9. The Sano in right field experiment was an all-time classic!
  10. Strange game...but nice to win. You knew it had to end up a one-run game in Cleveland. Do we have to keep using Urena? He literally has played for 10 teams in his 10 year career and is 44-77 so far! Is that a .363 winning percentage? Man, even the White Sox are better--they are now playing at a .375 pace.
  11. Just my two-cents on the question of tanking: it makes no sense in MLB and it is abhorrent in any case! I mean, it's one thing if "achieving" the worst record in the NBA in 1968 nets you Lew Alcindor (and still a cowardly and disreputable thing to do), but another thing altogether if in MLB in 2025 the worst record gives you a slightly better chance of drafting a potential star who may make it to the major leagues in 3 or 4 years! Come on...paraphrasing the Jimmy Dugan line: "There's no tanking in baseball."
  12. My portly friend Bill had the same look on his face that Gasper did tonight whenever he had to face the pitching machine in Little League tryouts. The big difference: Bill was very bad and never made the team and Gasper is actually getting paid to look and perform like a deer in the headlights. Unreal! Gasper and Funderburk...for the love of God, why?
  13. Bart, I keep Varland, Jax, and Castro. Jax, as a 7th inning or at times set-up guy still has real value despite his tendency to melt in high-leverage situations. Varland, and his contract absolutely should have remained a Twin: what a head scratcher that trade was! And, although Castro has been in a batting funk and, especially in the OF is a bit of a Dr. Strangeglove character, it's hard to give up a player who is so capable as a plug-in utility man and who also has decent speed and can get hot at times at the plate. Castro's versatility will be hard to replace. Goodbye Bader: you were an excellent pick up for as long as it lasted, but you were never slated to be a Twin for long. He's an excellent fielder and occasional clutch hitter, but I must say that I've seldom seem a major leaguer swing from his heels at pitches so damn far out of the zone. He is an odd and flamboyant man and I will miss his eccentricity and crop-dusted cap, yet I've not quite forgotten his failure to snag what seemed to be a catchable ball off the bat of Freddie Freeman that would have secured a truly epic win over the vaunted Dodgers. Lefties hitting oppo can impart some awful spin on the ball, and maybe that was the reason for Bader's miss, yet it remains a stark and unfortunate memory for me from the several month long "Bader Era" in Minnesota. Good luck in Philly Tots. Incidentally, the Twins may never again have a player whose first name was also the last name of two U.S. presidents...how about that fans?
  14. Hambino, that couldn't have been written much better, in my humble opinion. Truthin'
  15. Nick, Ryan Pressly may be heading back to Minnesota on that covered wagon soon!
  16. Still only 5.5 games behind in the wild card race...(ducks).
  17. I mean, I have to agree to some extent but I don't know why. He's peppy and very knowledgable...I can't put my finger on the problem (s) but he just doesn't fit somehow.
  18. I don't know if it's been mentioned, but RIP Ryne Sandberg...a great player and great gentleman. Chicago's loss and our loss as well.
  19. Agreed...only thing better would be doing it to Yankee fans.
