  1. Right, it's just so sad to see the pen implode again especially after the solid outing for Prielipp.
  2. Yes, condemning second guessing "is a thing" too, although I'm not sure what good a discussion page would be if fans weren't free to second guess aspects of the games.
  3. The homer Morris surrendered ended up atop Target Center in a bed of drought-resistant sedum plants. Hindsight is 20/20, but I'd have left Prielipp in until he hit 90 pitches.
  4. The team is frustratingly bad but all I've been watching for a few weeks now is the wild card race. We are 7 games below .500 and 7 games out of first place but just 3 off the last wild card spot even after taking it in the shorts at home to the thoroughly-mediocre Royals. If we can tighten up just a bit the wild card race should be relevant into September, and realistically all one can ask for each season is to play meaningful games in the last weeks The last wild card team will likely be one and done; but hey, it's baseball and on any given day! Remember that the World Champion 1987 Minnesota Twins only won 29 of 81 road games and finished the regular season 85-77. Chip and a chair and a chance, baby!
  5. dj, man I was praying for a big, game-winning hit in the ninth for him...that might have been the jump start he needs. Maybe tomorrow? The talent IS inside of him...
  6. Yeah, you can see Kreisler calling the ball on the replay and when the centerfielder calls others must get out of his way. For as long as he's been here Larnach is still a mystery to me...I don't dislike him necessarily, but I certainly don't understand him either. At times he seems to have a low baseball IQ, maybe?
  7. Nice win...I like Martin in right. Probability that I would go crazy if AppleTV covered all the games: 97%!
  8. Ah, the former Twin for a few hours! Yeah, he cost the Blue Jays the World Series (and me $1,000) last season by sliding and not running through home plate. So, no thanks!
  9. I'm pretty sure that it was a buck to get into the Met Stadium bleachers in 1965 and 4 bits for a hot dog!
  10. Some manageable teams coming up in June...take three from KC and two from Detroit and we are solidly back in the mix at least for a wild card spot. Oh...and a sweep of Chicago tomorrow would be sweet!
  11. How about this: make a deal with him, if he reaches an .850 OPS the eye black stays until he slips below it? How about that?
  12. dj, we can't know for sure, but he's always appeared very sincere to me. He's one of those guys who really seems to love playing the game as far as I can tell. Again, I'm just guessing, but Larnach seems to be his polar opposite in terms of apparent zeal and expressiveness. I just can't figure out what makes Trevor tick..
  13. Please leave me Jeffers...for the love of God SD Tom, leave me Jeffers!
  14. The guy has an incredible upside and we've seen it. I'd keep him in St. Paul throughout June and if he stays hot bring him back to the Twins. I think that he lost his confidence in the Bigs and is regaining it in St. Paul. If confidence was primarily what he's been lacking then his time in the minors could set him straight again.
  15. Yeah, Ryan was bitten by the White Sox home run bug--I think they score in the neighborhood of 45% of their runs on homers! The Sox are fast becoming a good team and any win over them strangely has an orgiastic feel to it.
  16. MLB outfielders need to know how to shield the sun from their eyes while tracking a fly ball...period! Isn't that something that players learn by the time they leave Little League? Larnach, the college slugger who has lost his power this season, is not new to the outfield as he played both corner spots while at Oregon State and with the Twins. On the fly ball today that dropped 10 feet in front of him he looked like a novice out there. That just can't happen. He obviously didn't track the ball well at all...if he had he'd have been closer to the landing spot and would not initially have run back on the ball. I'm sure some of us have experienced tough sun days in the outfield: one can usually follow the ball long enough using the glove as a shield to gain a good position (especially on "cans of corn" such as Larnach failed to catch today). Then you need to wait until the ball clears the sun as it always does before it hits the glove. It takes a little courage and a little know how, and for $4,475,000 a year Trevor ought to be able to make a better effort than the one today that cost his team 5 runs in a 10-9 loss! He's a decent hitter and a fine, unassuming fellow, but today he made a very unprofessional play that likely cost his team (a team that fought back bravely) a game that they could have won.
  17. Almost certainly, I would guess...sadly, he's lost it.
  18. A Five Man Electrical Band reference to cheer me a bit after a gut-punch of a loss!
  19. Elbow problems are often killers...they almost never seem simply to go away after some rest. With the speeds these guys are throwing today there's so much torque applied to that joint and its ligaments that it's a wonder any can stand the strain for long. Sadly, I can't imagine that the Brewers' fast ball prodigy (Misiorowski) will be able to whip the ball with abandon for too much longer...but time will tell. And I certainly hope that I'm wrong in the case of Rojas.
  20. The Twins shouldn't, and won't, simply release SWR, but some serious work needs to be done a.s.a.p. to make him rotation worthy again. For starters (n.p.i.) he needs the confidence to control the zone...too many nibbling balls and just plain non-competitive pitches of late!
  21. I think they hit over .300 as a team against us in these four, mostly dismal, games.
