  1. Always tough with Toronto and their Molson Posse in town. I've attended several Twins/Blue Jays encounters over the years, and whatever Toronto's exact percentage of the crowd, the feeling is that the Twins are not the home team...more decidedly, in fact, than when the Brewers' fans descend. Is that an excuse for often folding to the Jays? not really...but that and the generally potent Toronto offense year after year is an explanation, I think. Just win the series against Toronto and it's a feather in the cap!
  2. Lopez out 2-3 months...very sad. Next man up!
  3. Bly, my thoughts exactly...like he's aiming at a dartboard.
  4. Have the waters parted? Time will tell, but good for you Lewis. It had become agonizing to watch your at bats, and now I'm relieved for both of us. I should probably duck when I write this, but I think that there is a wellspring of excellence inside of Lewis that may (and may not) find its way to the surface again. During the 0-30 stretch they kept talking about his stance and swing, etc., but to me the only great impediment to Lewis was in his mind--his increasing lack of confidence and impatience to regain success. How great would it be to have his bat back?
  5. For the real Durham Bulls it's: Hit Bull Win Steak, Hit Grass Win Salad."
  6. The White Sox beat the Tigers 8-1...nothing else matters to me.
  7. Please stop the in game, dugout, half-inning interviews...please. I am a curmudgeon, of course. but I also believe I am correct when I say that these interviews add very little to the game and genuinely obscure the action on the field. I guess it's an attempt to grow the game, to attract new fans, is that it? I mean, what am I missing here? Which demographic is it that would rather hear about a given player's winter workout regimen than pay close attention to the game action itself. I don't know.
  8. Sherry Lewis, as in he’s hitting like Sherry Lewis?
  9. Agreed...I hate Manfred Ball but it's a thing and you have to develop and execute winning extra inning strategies. The analytics guys scoff at a sac bunt of course because their "expectancy" charts do not favor it, but I sure do. Putting a runner on 3rd with less than two outs in extra innings is a very good idea, in my humble opinion. It might even lead the opposition to feel some stress which can lead to poor execution. In a paraphrase of the Alec Baldwin character in Glengarry Glen Ross: in extra innings teams must Alway Be Scoring!
  10. I gave up after Raleigh's second blast (have you ever seen a worse meatball?) and headed over to the Strib for their postmortem...and boy was I surprised! This, ladies and gentlemen is why baseball is the greatest game on Earth.
  11. A Roman centurion's helmet that tends to lose its red crest at times, what's not to like? At any rate, one has to admit that it's better than the ravaged summer sausage that made the rounds in 2024-yes?
  12. Might have wanted to game plan a bit differently for Raleigh...pitch around him and walk him if need be? You know, he's on pace for 60+ home runs this year!
  13. Detroit has been amazing--best record in all of MLB with the 17th highest payroll! I wish I hadn't purchased the full MLB package because I'm so sick of watching them win.
  14. Indy, I think that's a couple of losses overdue. Man, Zebby needs some serious "seasoning" in St. Paul.
  15. Such lethargy...maybe it's heat induced-eh? The Twins are sending out a very weak lineup these days. They could have used Bader both at bat and in the field in Tampa--I hope that his sore finger feels better by Friday.
  16. Nice win and I'm happy to see Jax back to form--he was awesome. Okay, I'm an aging member of the rub dirt on your cut generation who is a bit flummoxed by Bader missing two games because of a "sore ring finger"--did I get that right? It's not broken, or stress fractured, or even sprained (involving the stretching or rupturing ligaments), but sore-yes? I hope that Bader is able to play tomorrow because his presence is badly needed in the Twin's less-than-impressive lineup.
  17. Yes, we could have won this one, (must move the Manfred runner to third immediately, whatever it takes!) but goodness, what a wonderful, classic pitchers' duel it was. Ober stood tall (!) and Bubic was a magician...despite the loss, it was a great show. Hard to say it and hate to say it, but it might be time to reevaluate Lewis back in St, Paul. I agree that he is looking lost in the box these days. Sadly, I'd rather see Bride or Castro at bat in a clutch situation right now than Lewis. Please prove me wrong on the road trip and I'll gladly eat crow. If he continues his horrific slump throughout the road trip, I'd say it's time for a trip to St. Paul.
  18. Wow....back from 4-0 in the 5th is exceptional, netting a full 10 of 10 team-of-destiny points. The Twins could easily have lost the last two but found a way to come out on top...maybe some of the magic will find its way to the nearby Wolves?
  19. France, Royals, the guillotine: 1793, but it's still too soon, ouch!! A great win that deserves an 8 out of 10 on the "team-of-destiny" scale. I'm still hopeful that Lewis can find his stride and even approach superstardom over time--regarding Lee, I'm not so sure. And, don't look now, but the Twins (April's hitless wonders) are just 3 games back in the loss column of the Division lead. Go Wolves...please.
  20. It's hard to go against the formidable Riverbrian, with whom I nearly always agree, but I just don't see the Emperor's clothes on McCusker. Give him maybe 25 at bats, sure...but I have a feeling that at 25 or 125 at bats he'll end up performing like the 2023 version of Joey Gallo. And I seem to recall him looking less than agile while patrolling right field a few games ago. By the way, it appears that birthday wishes are in order as Carson turned 27 just today!
