  1. Looks like Lewis is on track to be a 15 year vet (if he can still walk in 10 years), with 500 career AB's. Not much of an "asset". Time to find a trade partner when he is completely?? healthy. Looks like a career chronic IL guy.
  2. Have to realize also we were facing Cy Singer and Cy Junis. Seriously though, yes I think it's going to be a lean offensive year.
  3. Hopefully we play KC until the end of April and we will be fine. Lewis has to be the most frustrating Twins player this side of Buxton. Lewis is making Buxton almost look like an example of health and fitness.
  4. But according to some he's a great asset! Just like my '65 Mustang in the shed without an engine. But she sure is purty!!
  5. This proves players and trainers should be working towards bodies like Wilbur Wood, Mickey Lolich, Harmon Killebrew, David Wells etc. Get some FAT on those bones!
  6. He's not much of an asset if he is going to be out 6-8 weeks or even a full year every time he gets hurt, which is constantly. If he could play 140+ games a year, yes, tremendous asset. He is almost bordering the Buxton history now. I can accept a week off but not 6-8 weeks or more every time he gets hurt. That's almost 1/3 of the season. He is either very unlucky, or very injury prone.
  7. I am with you. Weeks ago I said we added to the bull pen with reclamation projects and cast offs. Now we don't even have that. We needed to sign at least 1 big time bullpen arm and a number 1 or 2 starter. Not optimistic in this pitching staff so far.
  8. Looks like Louie was "working on a few things" today. No need to worry. 😉
  9. You make a good point, however Wallner is still a borderline MLB talent. He is definitely not exempt from finding himself in the minors.
  10. I'm sorry, but you and I must be watching two different Wallners.
  11. I agree 100%. We have a bullpen of reclamation projects and guys other teams were willing to get rid of. Don't know where all the thoughts of a shutdown bullpen are coming from! This year is no different than any other year. Pick up a rehab guy here, trade for this mediocre guy there, and hope other guys are ready to take the next step. This team has a history of questionable bullpen, and I don't see any difference this year.
  12. I guess I am missing something. We have Duran, Jax and possibly Stewart. Then we have Jackson, Okert, Funderburk, Thielbar, Topa, Alcala, Winder, and Varland. The first 3 are solid, after that we have washed up, unproven, and prospect. FAR from a reliable, solid bull pen. We added noone of substance or high quality. Where is the improvement?
  13. Who knows? Maybe they signed him for late inning speed. He would have been tied for fourth in SB on the team last year with 6.
  14. You all might think I'm crazy, but if you play fantasy baseball it helps you get a feel for almost every player in the majors. DeSclafani has been a fringe player in fantasy, and that's exactly what he is in real life. "Major League Ready" made the comment that he might be able to stay around the 4.00 era range. I agree with that. He is about a 50/50 chance pitcher to give you a quality start. Not bad for a #5 starter or depth starter. I def don't hate the pickup.
  15. What I am saying is if we could trade for a legit #2 starter, we could make Ryan, Paddack and Ober 3,4,5. Varland and Winder in the wings. It would make our rotation pretty good!
  16. DeSclafani had 8 QS, 8 stinkers and 3 in between starts. If that isn't screaming 5th or spot starter, I don't know what is. One thing with him is, you know after 2 innings whether he is on or not. Def an upgrade from Bundy, Archer, Shoemaker etc. We still could use a #2 or #3 starter so we don't have to rely on Varland or Winder etc.
  17. Maybe we can make a trade and get Ryan Lefebvre back. I thought he was very good and still enjoy listening to him on Royals broadcasts.
  18. Ideally you trade for or sign someone for the top three spots in the rotation so you can use Varland in the bullpen or send him to StPaul for insurance. Varland as your fourth starter does not bode well for this team in 2024. He has not proved he is even major league ready for the long haul. 4.40-1.22 ERA/WHIP and almost 2HR/9 career stats don't scream "save a rotation spot for me". Hopefully we can do better.
  19. If you wouldn't want him on your fantasy baseball team, he isn't worth trading for! 😄
  20. I would rather read this than a serious article about whether someone should go into the hall of fame or not. Hall of Fame voting and induction never did anything for me. Best part is when they blubber while giving their speech. That is if I am bored enough to even watch it.
  21. I agree. He is another all or nothing hitter with a career 30% strike out rate. All the talk about Buxton is getting redundant and frankly over hyped. Very "not clutch". I would sacrifice a "little" defense for more contact and awareness at the plate.
  22. I would like to see an effort on acquiring Lane Thomas. Fits the bill for everything we need. Lead off, speed, power, OF replacement for Taylor. Pitching would obviously be nice too. Miranda and Kirilloff have "nothing" coveted. We would be a much stronger team if neither made the team due to having better replacements, which wouldn't take much upgrade.
  23. No Twins announcer will ever touch Herb Carneal. Not even Gordon. Personally, I was not fond of Gordon and his squeaky voice and "touch 'em all!" Herb was so smooth and didn't have to rely on a cheesy saying. I fell asleep many nights with Herb in my earphones. I would give anything to hear him call a game again. P.S. How did Gladden ever get his gig?
