    Farmer is a blue collar, hard nosed team guy we need to resign. I would think he would be receptive to a reasonable offer after having one of his best years. Every team needs players like Kyle Farmer. Time to move on from the thought of Miranda and Kiriloff in the long term plans. Package them in a trade deal for pitching or a CF.

    Texas and Arizona prove that pitching isn't the number 1 factor in making it to the Series. Of course pitching is important, but the ability to hit in key situations and not constantly leaving runners on base after "another strikeout" is probably more important. Witness the Twins and what was their downfall all year. Arizona and Texas are in the Series due to clutch hitting. Eovaldi gives up 5 and the Rangers still won with clutch hitting. Something the Twins failed at time and time again.

    Love the honesty and accuracy. Kudos to you for telling it like it is. Your analysis is why many old timers and die hard baseball fans like myself, (62 yrs old) have turned so apathetic towards this organization. Same old same old.

    Great series win! Hopefully put the hex to rest. Anybody else completely sick and tired of the missed calls by the home plate umps? My gawd, the umps seem to be getting worse. Check out the home plate umps "scorecard" after doing a game. Just Google home plate ump scorecard. It is unbelievable how MLB can allow these habitual bad umps to continue calling games. 20 or more missed pitches seems to be allowed. Did anyone notice when HP ump Fletcher didn't call strike 3 until Jeffers started to throw the ball around the horn? Then he decided to raise his right hand. Comical!

    Just because a guy has played major league baseball and wears a major league uniform, that means he knows baseball and the strategy that goes along with it? I am going to say something now, and I don't intend it as a joke. There are thousands of posters on these blogs, and I guarantee you some of them know baseball strategy better than Rocco. I hate it when people say, "well he knows more about baseball than we do". Why does he? Cuz he looks the part? He has proven over the years he doesn't "get it".

    To be honest, does it matter? We don't need anything less than 100% healthy for it to matter. We proved we really don't need another .210 hitter with a 30+% K rate. His defense doesn't make up for that.

    Both are throw away pitchers. However I remember when Lopez was lights out for Baltimore a couple years ago. Don't know what happened to him.

    You are correct, it was Ray Scott. He was also excellent, but I only mentioned Halsey and Herb. Maybe it's nostalgia I long for, but this era and new wave decisions made from technological data drives me crazy. And a manager who has no clue is the nail in the coffin. I hope I can get over this 3 year sickness, cuz baseball is still the greatest game ever! (Coached our Jr. Legion team to the state tournament in Granite Falls this year. Nothing better than amateur baseball.)

    To all the baseball doctors out there. What is wrong with me? 62 y/o male. Grew up with Halsey Hall, and of course the best of all time Herb Carneal. I was ecstatic when the Twins won and it took me hours to get over a loss. It was like this up until about 3 years ago. Slowly but surely, I am losing interest and affection for my partner, the Twins. I don't get excited with a win anymore, and don't really care if they lose. Playoffs were the ultimate reward, couldn't get any better than that. We have almost clinched the division by default this year, and I am not even excited about it. Lost today, by typical means, and it doesn't bother me at all. Any other old timers have this disease? Have you gotten treated for it? Is there a cure?

    Thank you. My thoughts exactly, but I am not going to convince anyone. From my original statement, it has gotten twisted more and more with every response. I never even used the word platoon. You can't start going lefty, righty in the 3rd inning. If you do, then you really give the opponent the advantage in later innings.

    If you read and understand my posts from the beginning, it IS ALL ABOUT THE STRATEGY. Gallo was just the cherry on top. Pinch hitting in the third inning is ludicrous in a 0-0 game. I don't care about the "new wave" managers and strategy. We will see how long this regime stays with this strategy.

    You miss the point. It is the same principal. Regardless of the hitter, I am talking situation. 3rd inning, scoreless game, two out, what are you trying to accomplish? Especially with Gallo? You can't tell me they did that back in the 60's, 70's and even the 80's or 90's! Probably never! Only with the new analytics and new wave management has this ever been.

    Wow ok. Don't remember it back in the Oliva, Carew, Killer days. I am sure Killebrew would have been happy to bat leadoff and get pulled when they brought in a righty. Not that Luplow is Killebrew. There is just zero reason to pull this move. Hard to convince the disbelievers. You are killing me.

    What I am saying is, Luplow vs. a right-hander is no worse than Gallo vs. anyone. I guess I just wouldn't use that strategy. Shortens your bench in the 3rd inning. But Baldelli was manager of the year.

    Whether it was a plan or not, isn't that over planning? 3rd inning? Gallo? I would rather have Luplow vs right, rather than Gallo vs my grandmother. Ok, grandmother was a stretch. Seriously, these types of moves are classic Baldelli, and drive me crazy.

    Nobody instead. It's only the third inning. Let the game play out a little. Ludlow could get a hit as easily as anyone else. BUT, if the powers say you have to make a change, cuz that's what Rocco does, Kepler would have been better. But like I said, that doesn't make sense either.

    How do you like that move in the bottom of the 3rd? Have to go lefty/righty and bring in the mighty Gallo with only a guy on first and 2 out. Of course a strikeout was the result. I could maybe see it if you were pinch hitting with a contact hitter. But even that would be a sttrrretccchhhh. Luplow isn't that inept, that he can't face a righty in the third inning. I wonder what Roccos charts were telling him? This kind of decision making is what has driven me nuts with this regime over the past few years.
