  1. You miss the point. It is the same principal. Regardless of the hitter, I am talking situation. 3rd inning, scoreless game, two out, what are you trying to accomplish? Especially with Gallo? You can't tell me they did that back in the 60's, 70's and even the 80's or 90's! Probably never! Only with the new analytics and new wave management has this ever been.
  2. Wow ok. Don't remember it back in the Oliva, Carew, Killer days. I am sure Killebrew would have been happy to bat leadoff and get pulled when they brought in a righty. Not that Luplow is Killebrew. There is just zero reason to pull this move. Hard to convince the disbelievers. You are killing me.
  3. What I am saying is, Luplow vs. a right-hander is no worse than Gallo vs. anyone. I guess I just wouldn't use that strategy. Shortens your bench in the 3rd inning. But Baldelli was manager of the year.
  4. Whether it was a plan or not, isn't that over planning? 3rd inning? Gallo? I would rather have Luplow vs right, rather than Gallo vs my grandmother. Ok, grandmother was a stretch. Seriously, these types of moves are classic Baldelli, and drive me crazy.
  5. Nobody instead. It's only the third inning. Let the game play out a little. Ludlow could get a hit as easily as anyone else. BUT, if the powers say you have to make a change, cuz that's what Rocco does, Kepler would have been better. But like I said, that doesn't make sense either.
  6. How do you like that move in the bottom of the 3rd? Have to go lefty/righty and bring in the mighty Gallo with only a guy on first and 2 out. Of course a strikeout was the result. I could maybe see it if you were pinch hitting with a contact hitter. But even that would be a sttrrretccchhhh. Luplow isn't that inept, that he can't face a righty in the third inning. I wonder what Roccos charts were telling him? This kind of decision making is what has driven me nuts with this regime over the past few years.
  7. Not a surprise. Rocco has proved time and time again over his managerial tenure, that he has no clue on when to pull a pitcher.
  8. You are being way, way over generous with no less than a half dozen of the guys you say have "contributed". I really don't have to list each one.
  9. At least we now know why we picked up Luplow. We might need to pitch him a couple times a week the way things are going.
  10. If you want to lose all credibility, speak of Randy Dobnak as a possible overlooked arm creating depth. Enough is enough.
  11. Hey Bud, Loved your post. I too played strat as a kid, and still play today. Greatest baseball game ever! I am just a 61 yr old kid.
  12. It sure is nice to just check the score after the game is over. Sure beats watching the whole game including this sad team. No way do they deserve to be a playoff team
  13. Who is Balazovic anyway? How did he all of a sudden become one of our bullpen stoppers? Came out of nowhere, and probably should go back. What a sad excuse for a bullpen.
  14. Couldn't agree more. It's been a year long thing for me. I used to live and die with the days twins result. Really don't even care anymore. Apathy? I think alot of twins territory has it.
  15. Keuchel is gone. According to Britt Ghiroli of the Athletic
  16. With 5 guys in the starting line-up tonight with an OBA of less than .300, what more do you guys want? I said OBA, not AVG. Hmmm.
  17. If we land Thomas, he immediately becomes our #1 OF. Hard to believe huh? He would be an awesome leadoff hitter with power and average for years. What would be the price for that? Doubt it happens, but would love it if it did
  18. And to think I got thumbs down from a few people a couple weeks ago after I said Rocco is a terrible manager. I can't even follow this team as long as I have to watch or listen to him, and I am an old schooler back to the Carew, Oliva Killer days. Just can't stand this team or manager.
  19. Wallner, Larnach, SWR, Varland, Balazovic, Canterino and I would throw in Baldelli. Lane Thomas is worth a haul by himself. Transformational lead off hitter. Better than the Shannon Stewart acquisition back in 2003, and he turned the offense around in a snap.
  20. You couldn't be more wrong. My post was directed towards thinking like yours. Lane Thomas, and 1 or 2 high end relievers. I am not the GM. I will leave the compensation to them. Just do it
  21. I hate this type of reasoning. Has been going on since I can remember. "We are getting player A,B and C back from injury, so it's like adding 3 players at the deadline without making a trade". HATE this! They are players we have had of and on all year and we are sitting at 5 games over .500. Has anyone ever heard of "adding" better talent than what you are getting back from injury to be a better ballclub? I just don't like the saying, "well, if we don't make any trades, we still have these guys coming back, which is like a trade". Rubbish.
  22. I would do that trade every day of the week in my sleep! It doesn't even seem like fair compensation for Thomas. He alone could turn this offense around in the lead off position. Power, speed and hits for average.
  23. Who puts the lineup out there? Can't have it both ways with your boy Baldelli. Worst manager the Twins have had in a very long time. Molitor was even better than him. You have to go back to Ray Miller to find someone worse.
  24. Rocco is an American Legion coach at best. Senior or Junior legion is the only question.
