  1. Expand. If the current climate is indicating a lack of competition for free agents, add two teams in strong markets. Demand will go up real quick when there are 50 less MLB players to choose from, and 100s fewer minor leaguers. Also, expand the rosters. Two more players apiece in a 27 man roster would add 60 more MLB players. Demand again goes up. Teams can afford to be choosy because theres an overabundance of choices right now.
  2. All sales final. Its a big world, chances are another guy named Moore will play for us at some point. Probably several. In this context you actually got a steal.
  3. Love all of this. Granite will hopefully get a good chance, and bonus pool cash for us. Does anyone know where that puts our total pool now?
  4. I will predict 89 wins for this year's Twins. Do you take the over or under? Also, 200 home runs, O/U?
  5. Word gets around. Opponents figure out your game and know how to pitch around you. Better off going overseas to ply your trade. I hear even scrubs can smash over there.

    What gives?

  7. I just do not trust contracts like these, huge money over a long period of time. I actually think Machado's could be an exception that proves the rule and works out well, but I am absolutely convinced Harper's contract will look just terrible in 5 years.
  8. We have little context and no inside information here. For all we know Baldelli told him to wipe away the mixed messages from previous coaches and find himself again. Thats a message i could see a good leader giving, and it certainly wouldnt preclude any future hitting advice or coaching.
  9. Wow, that was the Twins daily version of War and Peace! Well done, well thought out, lucid. I enjoyed the read. Agreed with much. Very excited foe the season.
  10. I sure wish the Twins thought highly enough of Astudilli to take him north. Gonzales and Astudillo are so versatile between them, a 3 man bench is almost palatable.
  11. There is absolutely NO way we can let Field go if he hits 25.9 HRs per plate appearance. That is just amazing.
  12. I'm sure there's some lost in translation stuff there, it probably means playa or something in the vernacular. I doubt it's "pimp" in the strictest sense. For our MiLBers... Kohl Trickle Stewart Mason Free Melotakis Dietric Some People Will Rob Their Mother For The Enns
  13. With a low bow I humbly appologize and beg the music czar's forgiveness. Of course my only musical talent lies in the recorder...is your orchestra looking for a first chair recorder...ist?
  14. Says the scheduler for an orchestra...?
  15. Yeah, I hear ya. Wasn't attributing the fringe comment to you, just disagreeing with the sentiment in the eval.
  16. His results in AA don't look very fringy to me. Low 90s fastball. + Curve ball. Developing slide that is "unhittable" at times. I don't read this as fringe at all. Of course, there are many reasons I am not employed as a professional MLB scout
  17. Wow, I don't understand this. I know "on paper" doesn't tell the whole story, but on paper Littell looks like a potential monster. If three pitch mix is as advertised, floor seems to be 4\5 starter, cieling much higher. If this goes down we've essentially brokered the prospect for prospect swap the never happens, just with a middle step. Ynoa + cash for Littell. Lots to love if/when this goes through.
  18. Where does all this "expect Gorden at short next year" stuff cone from? That's very far from a foregone conclusion. And I really wish people here would stop ragging on Polanco. He's had a bad slump for a couple months because baseball is hard and it's an arms race between pitchers figuring you out and you learning new ways to success. This kid can play.
  19. And now I am forced to sheepishly admit that the only book I've ever purchased on the day it came out was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. If you're looking for short stories and think Barth sounds intriguing, also look for Indian Uprising by Donald Bartleme.
  20. Oryx and Crake is modern masterpiece, but The Handmaid's Tale is also excellent. I read just the Conan Doyle Sherlock for the most part, but a short story called "A Study in emerald" by Neil Gaimen is exquisite. And speaking of Gaimen, check out American Gods as well.
  21. Making the call, Twins win and avoid the sweep.
  22. I learned about headaches from two sonofa-Bs named Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker.
  23. Books. Good Books. Lost in the Fun House 1984 The Dark Tower Game of Thrones Jurassic Park The Complete Sherlock Holmes Oryx and Crake The Old Man and the Sea Where the Red Fern Grows
