  1. And hopefully our current top five (outside of Tait) are playing well for the big club!
  2. I'd like to see Julien, Kreidler and Outman all NOT on the team. And that is assuming no trades. I would rather have fitzgerald as the 13th player and, hopefully, one of Emma or Gonzalez makes the team out of spring training. And I would love to see Larnach traded to open up another slot for a position player. Lastly, if the Twins keep Wallner, they should melt down his iron gloves so he stays out of the outfield.
  3. Outman will hopefully be released and I sincerely hope the Twins trade Larnach. They ought to be able to get an ok relief pitcher for him. Make room for the Youngsters.
  4. The Twins have an abundance of DH's. Probably not a good way to go.
  5. If the Pohlad's wanted to demonstrate that things are changing, then Falvey should have been fired. I get that he may well be a victim to the terrible ownership, but the team on the field is his Frankenstein.
  6. This is an easy NO. The Twins need to improve their fielding and not add another DH!
  7. I don't feel like this is a move the Twins should make. However, I disagree with the feeling from the article that dumping Correa was a bad idea. The Twins were losing with him; why not unload most of his boat anchor salary? Unfortunately, the Twins have chosen not to reinvest, but I still don't feel Correa was going to help the Twins win.
  8. The hitting seems hopeful. I'm less pleased that we have another below average fielder. That said, if the Twins let the young prospects man the corner outfield positions, then fielding should improve...at least in the outfield.
  9. I think there is a pretty good argument that his "beaning" had a negative impact on his approach.
  10. This is so true. The guy did not learn things the most of us learn them; by having to earn your way up. He lacked the skills AND experience requisite to hold a high end job. But he did learn some quality corporate BS, so he's got that going for him...which is nice. My sympathy meter is registering at Zero!
  11. The Josh Bell signing has dimmed my headlamps. The Twins don't need another mediocre DH style player. They have so many. For me, the "new Twins" need to be our youngsters. The outfield corner slots should be manned by two of Gonzalez, Jenkins and Emma. Be ready to move Culpepper up if he is performing well with the Saints. Convert a couple of starters to relief; Prielipp and Festa perhaps and see what our young players can do. The Twins need to find out if these guys can play. I am pretty darned tired of the parade of retreads.
  12. I fully agree. Anything longer than that and the Twins are truly running a replay of the past 2 seasons. He utilized the word accountability and that needs to apply to more than his brother. Falvey must go.
  13. DocBauer, you certainly stated what I've been thinking since reading about the announcement. This was a pretty big change and I would not be surprised if it was more than internal Pohlad politics that made the change. If Tom Pohlad was the primary guy around the sale/iinvestors, those same investors may well have demanded this change. And I think it unlikely this is the only change that they are demanding. It would not surprise me at all if Falvey is now on the hot seat...if he stays at all. I am appreciative that Tom Pohlad specifically called out the ridiculous, tone deaf, communications from our recent past. The right sizing comment was, and remains, an unforgivable statement.
  14. I share your take on his letter to ticket holders. Joe was not a good person to head up the organization.
  15. Twins need(ed) a first baseman. That is where I feel the Twins should have traded for.
  16. I don't view Lee as a long term SS, so not sure why you would move Culpepper off SS so that Lee can stay in the position.
  17. I said that pitching was a strength. So start with getting the quote right. And the Twins have numerous promising starting pitchers that in a package can gather promising position players. Also, I did not say premium talent. Your rephrasing changes the meaning of the original post to fit your perspective.
  18. Seems like a surrender signing. I would have liked the Twins to trade from their pitching strengths to gain a first baseman that has a chance to be a real solution. Bell is another DH. We've got plenty of those guys.
  19. Good for Carson. He continues to make a living doing what he loves to do.
  20. And at the managers level; a great manager helps his/her team to perform beyond normal expectations. Popkins was likely held back by Falvey, but he clearly did not get his players to perform to expectations. That said, he was a scapegoat for Ownership and Falvey's failures.
  21. I've seen a couple of comments that indicate Lopez or Ryan for Mayo. Glad they are not the GM. Ober would be worth it to see if Mayo can perform. I like Ober, but his loss of velocity is a big concern.
  22. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play? I pretty much agree with you.
  23. Nice article. It was an enjoyable read.
