  1. I was at the game. The ball was caught at the RF wall and the wind was blowing directly in at 10 to 15mph. He crushed it.
  2. The Twins can't make any big moves until ownership changes, and I think most would agree that this can not happen soon enough. France does not seem like a worthwhile signing despite his non guaranteed contract. Takes up a spring training slot that would be better served by youngsters.
  3. I've been saying a similar thing for sometime. Castro wore out last season. He should play less and fewer (not more) positions.
  4. i can't imagine Tonkin or julien on the opening day roster. I know tonkin is signed, but even if they pull him from the 40 man roster, it's possible no one else will pick him up.
  5. Seemingly, the Twins have excellent depth at second base.
  6. I agree with your comments except the one around Vazquez possibly back in 2026. I guess he could miraculously rediscover how to hit, but i would not bet a thing on it.
  7. our top 3 starters are darned close to untouchable. Certainly not for this guy.
  8. I agree with the exception of Julien starting at 2nd. Julien has too much to prove to be a likely starter at any position in the majors. Unless he is dominant in spring training, he needs to start the season in St. Paul and demonstrate that he has a successful new approach.
  9. Other than stockpiling catchers this off season...given they are, at best, mediocre. But then, so is Vazquez.
  10. You make some interesting comments. I don't think Kepler was a disappointment. He had a solid career. Sano, on the other hand, would not have mattered where he played. He was constantly out of shape. Why? Who knows. From where I sit, Sano did not have a committed and professional approach. Sano's disappointment is on him.
  11. And the hits keeping rolling in. :(
  12. I think your point about Vazquez mirrors mine. His hitting is terrible. Camargo and Cartaya are probably not as big a drop off in hitting (from Vazquez) as we think. I definitely don't want the Twins to trade Jeffers and I don't really care if Vazquez is with the Twins. If somehow the Twins find a sucker to take his salary without having to give up a good prospect, then it ought to free up money for a productive player.
  13. Good article. Less than charming owner. I'll go with despicable.
  14. My take is mostly positive. The previous thinking, at least on this board, was that the Twins would have to reduce payroll back to 130 million from the projected 140 million. I'd like to see the Twins keep Paddack rather than dump his salary. He seems like a decent bet for starters depth and possible relief pitching. Seemingly, they won't give away Castro now. Vazquez may still be at risk, but for me, so what.
  15. That's an emotional response. His value to the organization is top 20 when he plays 100 games; which he did this past season.
  16. I enjoyed reading your top 20 and your top 5 are difficult to argue with other than tinkering with the order. That said, Buxton not in the top 20 is difficult to understand.
  17. I know this is unpopular, but I also agree that Castro might make the most sense to trade. I've stated before, the Twins abused Castro by playing him too often and in too many positions. 1st half Castro was excellent; 2nd half...not so much. He likely has decent trade value that will probably reduce the payroll. And if he is slated to play less positions, he is more easily replaced internally. Yup, my reasoning is a bit circular, but my bottom line is I don't think the Twins will be hurt as much as most think by trading Castro.
  18. I suspect there will be moves because the Twins over their payroll goals...and that seems like the primary driver for our current ownership. It would not hurt my feelings to see the Twins stay with what they have given my belief that future moves will only hurt the team by offloading payroll. We don't have a good plan at catcher so Vasquez isn't a great move. Moving our super sub Castro won't help the team and Paddack could actually help the pen and provide depth to the starting pitching IFFFFFF he is healthy...I know, I know. Given all of that, I think the Twins trade Paddack for a song.
  19. Like, or dislike Baldelli; if there is new ownership, they will almost certainly fire him at the first reasonable opportunity. I'm on the dislike portion of the Baldelli O'Meter for the same reasons many have stated: He is all analytics and no heart. AND, I don't understand many of his analytical choices (see Margot). Failing new ownership; we are in for a bad stretch. Tangentially, baseball needs a salary cap.
  20. Other than choosing the top players, I don't see the reasoning for regression. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it just seems to be based on old fashioned Minnesota pessimism.
  21. Thank you for the joyful trip down memory lane!
  22. I'm pretty convinced that the Twins used him incorrectly last season with his multiple innings outings.
