  1. I would agree only other thing I can think of is the angle the ball bounced it may have been behind Perez from the third base view. Since Julien was spinning away he couldn't motion to come home right away and being a little slow he probably didn't want to get hosed with the middle of the order up
  2. Little surprised Julien and Wallner didn't get the nod for an opening day start but then again Rocco doesn't seem like the guy to ditch platoon splits for the honor of opening day.
  3. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/twins-injuries-and-roster-moves Looks like he left with back spasms so hopefully just a day to day thing and nothing jeopardizing the start of the season for him
  4. I think the biggest difference at this point is the lack of accusations, with the domestic issues, sexual assault, drug test failures, they all are based on someone (MLB in the case of a drug test) directly accusing the player of doing something. In this case its the opposite everyone involved so far as said he wasn't involved in any meaningful way and isn't being investigated by any federal agency at this point either. Were that to change and anyone pointed the finger that's where I would expect the MLB to push for the administrative leave. Agree that the shifting stories definitely doesn't make it look like Ohtani is as innocent as claimed.
  5. That was a super fun 2 min with Falvey haha
  6. Thielbar also starting on the IL with the hamstring
  7. DeScal also staring year on IL
  8. Been watching all of the ones televised while in Minnesota so far as Spring Training isn't blacked out, I think only 2 or 3 games have been televised by BSN, (just another reason why they're a dumpster fire and I hate the Twins for renewing that deal) but usually 4 games a week are on MLB tv just with whatever other teams feed. I believe on the bottom of the screen there's an option to change the audio feed to either teams radio broadcast if you want so you could listen to the twins radio team while watching the Red sox, Blue Jays, etc. tv feed
  9. I'm not inherently against Duran opening a playoff game but like other people stated you're probably looking at best case 3 innings. So you make it a bullpen game at that point, maybe that's better if the bullpen is a strength and you know you have 2-3 days before the next game and can get everybody ready again by then. Unless Lopez is used and no other starter is performing and you're at the end of a series I just don't see it making sense. Better off telling Paddock or Varland to give everything they have for 4 innings and have an extended bullpen day then start it off right away with Duran
  10. My guess is that at least early in the season when fewer guys are rotating through the DH Kirilloff will probably be there more than first due to Santana having the better glove. After the first month I could see that changing when they want to get Correa, Lewis, and Buxton heavier DH usage to keep them fresh. Complete guess on my part
  11. I signed up for fubo on a trial run the cheapest tier with Bally was $80, but then because of local sports broadcast fees and taxes on top of it comes out to a bit over $100 a month. Gave up on it after that and trying to MLB TV with VPN route. It's just a giant mess all the way around
  12. Don't love it, Margot was worth -5 runs in CF so not really a great option when we have plenty of other options that can play there in the minors. the 80 OPS+ against lefties (Edit: last year) certainly doesn't offer a lot of hope as a platoon option. I don't know if Noah Miller ever ends up helping the MLB roster with the infielders we have but I don't see Margot helping either. Especially if the Dodgers aren't picking up almost his entire salary.
  13. Not sure about the percentage of runner's thrown out but remembered an article early in the offseason talking about how a lot of Jeffer's catching def markers dropped last year compared to his norm. In terms of framing looks like Vasquez was 22nd best at 3 runs saved and Jeffers was 51st with -4. a 7 run difference might explain a good chunk of that, especially in a stat that is hard to measure but probably weighted highly for catchers *Edit that was from baseball savant it also has Vazquez at 25th with 0 above/below avg caught stealing and Jeffers at 61st at -5 below avg caught stealing all in all seems like baseball savant saw Vazquez last year as slightly above average and Jeffers as well below avg
  14. Promotions like those would be nice, right now I just don't see myself going to any games as I'm bitter about the only options being a minimum of $100 to watch games. But doing something like these to make coming to games easier would go a long way to making me feel like it was more out of their control than just money grubbing for the highest paying contract.
  15. Nice I can't wait to have a 38 year defensively stretched switch hitter who's only good on one side of the plate. That's so much better than seeing any of the players in our system develop or get a chance.
  16. Yeah I'm sure he had a good reason for saying what he did, been in enough roles to know not to say things you aren't pretty confident in. Feels bad he got hung out to dry by the team like that, especially right when he just took the job.
  17. Sounds like its really the same as last year just less money for the Twins, so if you were blacked out last year you will be again.
  18. yeah I don't see any good news in this, screw the Pohlads and screw Bally. Guess I'm not watching this year.
  19. I'd be very disappointed and it would probably be the first year I don't watch any Twins games if they don't get some sort of streaming package figured out. Tired of spending $100+ for cable each month when the Twins are the only thing I turn it on for was really looking forward to any other option.
  20. The drop from 133 to 118 against lefties in a year is a bit concerning to me given the age, if it falls the same amount again he's just a league average hitter against lefties and I'd rather see the at bats go to someone younger like Miranda or Severino
  21. I just don't think that's a good argument, why vote for any LF or RFs then? They should have stuck to CF if they wanted in that's where the value is. Why vote for a 2B or 3B, they obviously couldn't cut it at SS. Sure a lot of relievers were starters first but its not like every starter who converts magically finds success and is a good reliever. The preparation and in game situations are drastically different. Way fewer pinch hitters and pressure situations in the first 6 innings compared to the last three. You also have very little structure instead of having the entire day knowing at 6:15 you start your work every fifth day you have to be able to get warm and beat the best hitters on the other team in a very short amount of time. Not saying relievers shouldn't have a higher bar of entry than starters and it probably makes sense for 15 starters to get in before a reliever but they still are incredibly important to team success and should be recognized when they're among the best in history at what they did.
  22. Anything over 80 games in the field is way beyond wishful thinking, I'd call a success 80 games in CF and another 40-50 at DH while seeing his OPS+ get back to the 120+ area. There's absolutely 0 chance we ever see Buxton in center for more than half a season with the amount of damage he's accumulated on his body.
  23. Goodrum to me feels like an insurance policy if Gordon still can't find anything at the plate, a buddy of mine also pointed out the Goodrum was pretty solids against LHP in his MLB time which given the Twins struggles is never a bad thing to have
  24. I agree option 3 would be my go to, surplus value at catcher is nice but feels like the most over valued. Starting Larnarch all year in the OF with Kepler gone just doesn't give me a lot of confidence. If Wallner has a bit of a sophomore slump and Buxton is unable to go more than 1/4 of the games in the OF a mix of Castro, Wallner (potentially) struggling, and Larnarch is an absolute black hole defensively and offensively for a team supposedly competing. Option 1 just seems short sighted to move Lee as Polo is about to end his Twins time and Lee is ready to debut
