  1. ,,,and Wacha had an even better season than eovaldi did
  2. wait until they see the bwar and fwar comp between wacha and eovaldi
  3. nah, i still think it's pretty bad. the site says caleb thielbar and byron buxton have the same amount of trade value.
  4. you can do both. they still had plenty of innings to go around for devin smeltzer, chi chi gonzalez and whatever other crappy guys who weren't part of the group you're talking about.
  5. lot of people crapping on this don't realize he was a perfectly decent pitcher last year. i mean honestly he can't make people forget that they really could use a top-of-the-rotation guy, but let's not act like the twins are flush with guys who would easily match his 3.3 bWAR from last season in under 130 innings. it takes a village; don't get mad when they fill it with townspeople
  6. don't understand this at all. we have no idea how much the twins were in contact with other free agents while waiting on correa. none. and yet everyone wants to pretend like it's correa first, everyone else after. like every offseason when the first player the twins sign isn't the best they said, people cry "OH WAS HE REALLY A PRIORITY?" like cmon folks. we don't need to be upset about everything all the time.
  7. whole bunch of "meh" here. "should have been reasonable for the twins" yeah, and? there's just not much reasoning here other than "twins missed out on good players" without any idea if they wanted to be in minnesota, how much more it might have cost, etc. sometimes i think twins fans are just wired to be upset things *didn't* happen
  8. if none of these fits are better than medium why are we talking about them
  9. nevertheless, i'll persist :)
  10. but....why?
  11. listen, if the white sox can build a team of first basemen....why not? hahaha
  12. i think we all know the padres are going to swoop in with 12 years and 300 mill
  13. i'm old fashioned but i like to dance with the players i brought. if i've had a guy for six-ish years i know everything about him medically, etc. just my two cents. they haven't really signed that type of player though have they?
  14. It makes sense that the Twins didn't want to match the deal for Correa from a years standpoint but the AAV was just a shade under $28 million per year. That's more than $7 million less than the Twins paid him last year, which should have been attainable right? We've seen a wave of deals with longer terms, and it's because teams are using them to kind of skirt the luxury tax. Correa's going to get that money whether he plays 8, 10 or 13 years but the implications are that the Giants can work closer to the luxury tax cap without going over it, perhaps allowing them to add more pitchers like Ross Stripling and Sean Manaea, which are types they've had luck with recently like Kevin Gausman. To me though, the Twins not wanting to go that long on a deal isn't as much about length, as about the fact that they're not worried about EVER getting close to the luxury tax line -- and that concerns me. What does everyone else think?
  15. why? the division still sucks and cleveland can't have the same amount of mickey mouse luck they had last year. fangraphs says, right now, 81 wins for the guardians and 80 for the twins if i recall correctly
  16. except freeman. this is why when their fans get all excited about their young players on cheap deals, like...what's the point if it doesn't mean you can't keep your anchors
  17. i don't think they have as much of a singular focus as a lot of people believe. we don't know how much they were in contact with the other shortstops, and it appears turner wasn't coming here anyway.
  18. anybody can make a call. i just think this is other teams doing due diligence after seeing them get jilted by correa
