Eris, refreshing attitude ……. seem to be a logical person here!! It’s not the fans job (at TD nor anywhere) to worry about how the GM or ownership is handling/addressing attendance. I don’t get the “hunt” for things to worry about or complain about? Roster construction - sure. Castro - Wallner - Lewis - Keaschall are 4 of Top 7-9 offensive players, out of 13 position players. You can’t GM nor Manage your way around those circumstances. Eris is right, Bader & France are performing as well as or better than anyone expected - same GM signed them this past offseason. Can’t be accused of screwing everything up as GM and then have these two assumed to be lucky signings - right? Pitching is fine. Alcala is an ongoing problem that should be addressed. Stewart seems to have lost his fastball edge and thus, effectiveness. Starters have been very consistent in keeping Team competitive. 1-2-3-1 runs in recent 4 game losing streak. I get it’s frustrating to have Gasper - Kiersey - Clemens on the 26 man but filling those spots with AAA guys is not sound if they aren’t shining in AAA. McCusker may deserve a look soon but nobody else is tearing it up…….for 12 months everyone wanted Kiersey to get a chance…… decent defense, OK to good base running, but can’t bunt at all & can’t hit at all……pretty sure if they had a better player to move him down they’d act on it - it’s in nobody’s interest to hide talent and lose games. GM could have done better via trade of pitching for a bat in offseason! That’s over, let’s move on “…..& start Sunday with some positives.”

PLAYER - PLAYER - PLAYER if you haven’t learned techniques and refined them by age 25 you’re just not very good! You can’t coach results. You can coach strategy - placement - & yes, technique, but the player has to put in the reps and perfect/master. Coaches don’t make plays. There’s a reason that many, many successful coaches (numerous sports) say “………..good players make good coaches”! Eddie has zero instincts and that’s tough to overcome at his age - not impossible but pretty tough.

Still just with the minimum amount of runs to have any expectation of winning the game. Can anybody bunt on the entire Club? In ‘23 they scored quite a few runs with Safety Squeeze - not sure if anyone can execute that play anymore? Author stated Ober has a 2.00 ERA after his first start - impressive!! A real pitcher, with command - not great stuff but he has a nice approach and generally very good control. Pen came though in the end …….Stewart might have to get the mysterious Judge Smails injury to be able to go to IL & get his act together…….got to be better! Big hit for Larnach today - Buxton/Jeffers/Bader all with two hits …… better today at the plate…….a ways to go!! Jax great job! Sands hung tough and worked his way through some bad luck. Duran’s got it going!!

Alcala to AAA - Festa, Morris, Matthews or preferably PADDACK to the Pen for duty twice a week for a couple innings at a time and max effort. One as 5th starter. Gotta get better results this way than Alcala on the roller coaster of effectiveness. …..5 hits and 3 runs OR 2 walks & 2 strikeouts …..hard to watch & harder to support keeping him on current staff!

What solutions does trading Buxton, finally (seemingly) healthy at $15M/year, bring? Correa - OK ……..big spread between $15M & $37M. I keep both and make a big swing with trading Duran & one of the Top AAA starters (or like guys) for a real bat - not a Brooks Lee or Austin Martin - somebody else’s “maybe” prospect ……i.e., high draft picks with potential - a real, proven MLB bat.

McCusker can’t be a lesser option than Kiersey - Clemons - etc. ……..why not! Frankly, tired about hearing of Emma’s talent and his OK play and waaay toooo frequent injury issues. Move on to McCusker. Alcala and Varland both have good (stuff) velocity and they are both clueless - emotional - lack command. The rest of the PEN is just fine. Our pitching is NOT the issue! Scoring 1 - 2 - 3 - 1 runs over the last 4 games is a slice of what’s been happening all season - no run production!! Can’t score 11 in a couple games against no talent pitching and think that anything is solved. Going out of last season - through the winter - and now through 1st 20% of the Season - the Offense is not potent enough!! Lewis - Wallner - Keaschall will all help (Castro a bit) a bunch when removing our bottom 3-4 guys on the 26 man but they needed to add a real bat (with NOW potential, not a prospect with credentials) in the offseason. Disgusted with the inability to get more than 6-7 hits per game, often the norm. They can still be at .500 without wholesale changes by mid-June and I really expect that result. The manager doesn’t step into the batter’s box and if a guy that’s in the SHOW needs to be motivated daily to have the right approach at the plate, the players need to be changed out and Manager as well to start a fresh culture. Still 2 months plus away from that approach. Team is FOR SALE so change will be non-existent until that actually takes place, IMO.

Guardians 4, Twins 3: Yet Another Wet Slap
JD-TWINS replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don’t think there are many/any organizations that can deal with 4 of Top 13 position players being out………Wallner - Lewis - Keaschall - Castro are in Team’s Top 8 guys. Miranda is gone & Kiersey & Clemons & Gasper will be gone soon………Julien is potentially secure BUT Bride/Castro combination & certainly Keaschall will probably displace him w/o a significant consistency of offensive output kicking in soon. France (IMO to date) is like a higher performing Carlos Santana of 2024 (under appreciated)……… offensively. 118 OPS+ - .352 OBP - leads Team with 18 RBI Hit the ball hard for outs in a handful of games I’ve seen over last couple weeks. He seems to be capable of hitting .250 & .320 OBP with a bunch of doubles. He’s heading toward 85RBI assuming some regression.- 81 replies

Wallner - best statistical hitter out. Correa - former #1 overall and offensively absent until last half dozen games Lewis - former #1 overall and hasn’t played an inning Keaschall - bright spot played a total of 5 games plus one AB Castro - nothing special at all from him prior to injury Get some average production from these guys and Team is above .500 w/o a problem. Clemons - Gasper - Kiersey………..these guys displaced by the injured guys and there’s instant respectability, IMO.- 81 replies

Wallner & Lewis & now Keaschall are all talented guys that haven’t been able to be in the field……greatly missed!! Bader 3-5 …… Correa 2-5 ……. Buxton 2-5 ……. France 3-5 ……. today, the remaining talent did OK or better, still can’t score.- 81 replies

Difficult to watch a Team NEVER play for a run and always assume the big inning will prevail. 13 hits for MN & 6 hits for Cleveland …….. how does a team give up 2 runs through 9 innings and not win the ball game with 12 hits through 9 and a handful of them doubles? Guys at 2B & 3B with no outs and can’t score - pathetic!!- 81 replies

Twins Daily Pitcher of the Month - March/April 2025
JD-TWINS replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not exactly sure how the PEN is blowing games a few days per week? Other teams score …….. the Twins do not, regularly. Team had 6 runs over last 3 games. Today, Thursday, they managed to have more than twice as many hits as Cleveland and still lost. Brutal bat to ball skills with guys in scoring position (on third), brutal!!- 4 replies

Julien is on the Team out of nearly as much desperation as Gasper. He stands in the box as though he’s collecting data instead of looking like a professional hitter…….he’s at .210. There is no great loss with him not in the line-up. I wholeheartedly agree that Gasper is a stretch for any MLB line-up but this example of Eddie sitting isn’t real strong from my point of view. Tired of Eddie’s arrogance or confusion in the box!!!

Reasons for doing things differently from game to game - one pitcher’s start v. his next - there must be a dozen potential variables (reasons) through the course of a year. For Paddack on Tuesday, stacking 99 pitch outings doesn’t bode well for him staying fresh as long as possible through the season…….his contact rate and velocity of bat to balls leaving the plate was pretty high as a rule all night ………. the bullpen was fresh. Those are 3 reasons to remove Paddack - analytics would provide more validity, I’m certain. They scored 1 run ……..why do all the strategic details matter so much (unless about run generation) when the Team doesn’t score?

Surprised nobody here has taken the opportunity to roast Miranda on this (maybe I missed comments?)……..I saw a female blogger, that I guess follows the Twins regularly, take a shot right after it happened - pretty funny. I wasn’t sure of the accuracy? Apparently, he was checking out at Target or similar and started to drop a case of water and grabbed to catch it and got hurt………..hard to imagine. Professional athlete.

Not enough pitch mix and his location isn’t sharp enough to make up for only two pitches. “Look for a fastball in a location I like” is literally the approach v. Stewart. Some days, a lot of days he looks electric……..he did throw the night before though. Bottom line is just lack of execution by him and by Lopez as well. Lopez threw Ramirez 3 straight down and in fastballs to start his AB and the 3rd was lined into right field - no logic to the pitch mix nor location! I think Lopez got pulled because he was emotionally wound after the throwing error and Stewart strikes guys out - not a terrible move. I gotta say here, & I generally like the guy, but Ryan Jeffers does his pitchers no favors behind the plate! His bobble of what was nearly a pitch out with Santana stealing was a blunder - happens. His inability to block pitch down & keep it in front of him allowed Santana to get to 3rd with only 1 out (maybe none?) - happens. However, his total lack of ability to frame anything close is really bad. The umpire is responsible ultimately to call strikes, strikes. 4 pitches within 2 batters were in the TV box (all called balls) and Jeffers catches the pitches and flails his mitt 18-24” away from where he catches the ball - it looks like he’s trying to steal every pitch by brining the to center of plate and belt high - it’s so obvious that (to me) it doesn’t give our pitchers (last night, Lopez) any chance of getting marginal pitches around the periphery of the zone. Catch the ball and be still - don’t appear surprised with each pitch’s location. Anyway, wish he was improving - don’t see it in defense. Costly!

I gave a thumbs up to this because that’s probably the case but GASPER, with his supposed 3rd string catcher capabilities, and his switch hitting may supplant Eddie? Brooks now seems to be at top of heep at 2B and Castro can flex between OF & IF……… Gasper provides a relatively similar offensive potential to Eddie at this point.

Just a reflection - no big disagreement here…….my recollection was Eddie had 7 HR and was hitting well overall with good OBP up to April 27……(future star coming off ‘23)…then 6-7 weeks of very BAD…..sent down to regroup. He didn’t shine that much in St Paul either…….came back up and was blah to bad the remainder of the year. My point is he’s had plenty of time to heal as an individual……I think he needs help between the ears if he isn’t already receiving it from organization. He’s mentally locked up quite often in the box - appears to be anyway. Not trying to diminish the emotional side or psyche a hitter needs - it’s not easy - but guys get roster spots & get paid to perform.

Didn’t understand your comment initially - I think we’re on same page: Pretty sure his ERA after his first start is under 3.00…… shouldn’t have to shutout Teams to get a favorable outcome!! I’m not in love with Paddack in the rotation (lack of K’s & walks too many) but one has to be fair - he’s pitched well (well as expected) in last 5 consecutive outings.

The issue with Eddie is “he’s been feeling the pressure” since about May 15 of last year. He needs a psychologist’s help IMO. The bat rack approach is waaay too prevalent and has been for months & months. Can’t hit .210, regardless of how many times you walk. France hit the ball hard at least 3 times - COACHING at 1B and veteran’s lack of awareness (France) rounding first base and getting thrown out is a big deal in an extremely tight game!! Can’t happen.

Twins 11, Guardians 1: Opening Salvo
JD-TWINS replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Offense is finally nearing a level respectability from a Team standpoint. Buxton projects to 30HR & 85 RBI if he sits for a month at some point. Too many strikeouts but his bat to ball production sure looks good in April! Jax & Alcala are 0-4 with combined ERA of about 8.00………..if Team wins 2 of those 4 they are over .500. Those 2 guys are getting it together. My point is things aren’t all bad despite Wallner - Lewis - Castro - Keaschall all going down with injuries. Remaining competitive through this week will continue to level things……….3 more wins through Sunday would be big as Lewis & Castro seem to be coming back in a week or two……serious upgrades over Clemons & Kiersey. -

Bride - seems the Marlins really messed up! I don’t think the guy is hunting MVP just because he’s 7-14 with the Twins but he hit .276 last year in 232 AB’s - 11 HR - 122 OPS+. Sure seems the Marlins should have given him a longer runway. …….. maybe he’s seen enough of S. Florida and went in the tank to get released?? Just kidding but he’s a pretty good “scrap heap” pick up by the FO!! He might force Castro into primarily an OF role? Bride - Lewis - CC - Lee - Julien - France Larnach - Bader - Buxton - Wallner - Castro Anybody hear anything about Wallner or Castro’s health? I assume Lewis will be back by 5/5/25? -
