  1. I get you don’t want to bet the house on the Twins winning a series! Seems if they are 12-6 at home and on a 5 game winning streak, they should have the expectation of winning two with Ryan & Lopez going over the weekend. If not, we should curl up into the fetal position. My bad on the “Burnes going to SF” …….thought that seemed like a lot of $$ to spend. Thanks for straightening me out. Players have to be on the field to play the game and contribute. Correa missed big chunks of ‘23 & ‘24…….Buxton missed a bunch of ‘23 and played maybe 110 games last year……Lewis (our #1 overall pick) hasn’t been in the field a bunch of the last 3 seasons……..Lewis out in ‘25 - Wallner out in ‘25. Miranda & Julien forgot how to hit. Can’t “manage” Ty France & a supporting cast of Gasper & Clemens & Kiersey & on & on to Division Titles…..need players!
  2. Robbie Ray is back - Corbin Burnes was signed - SS, Adames was signed as FA as well………..good players win games not attitudes from the front office. Organization’s ideals - fundamentals “help” on the culture side BUT 3 significant player additions to the Giants are really driving the success. Buster signed the two FA’s, so kudos to him and FO there but the guys throwing and hitting the ball are the real stars in S.F. ………..Twins playing at home, one has to expect a higher bar for the series…….at least 2 of 3 - right?
  3. OF is the envy of baseball if one drops Wallner back into RF. Wallner is a decent OF with a plus/plus arm (needs to be smarter with it) - Bader shines in LF almost every time he’s out there - Buxton (with his current health) could anchor any group in the game on the grass. All with .265 or higher BA and OPS+ in the 130’s……….Lee - Lewis - Correa show up, their formidable. Jeffers & France are both playing/hitting well. Starters have ERA of 3.50 (Ober after game one with ERA in 40’s) - 2.93 (Ryan) - 2.18 (Lopez) - 4.01 (SWR) - 1.38 (Festa) - 5.57 (Paddack) ………. Paddack has been competitive in 6 of 7 starts. He IS on the edge too often! Overall, other than Jax & Alcala’s early blow ups, the PEN is very good. Alcala & Stewart have walked/hit guys to get in trouble lately but the group has real ability! May 9th ………still think they are playing at a more even level and a few over .500 by June 10.
  4. Ryan would be a nice piece after ‘25 for the O’s - not trading for Joe to save ‘25. Can’t imagine Twins considering trading “The Experience” until they get to his last season of team control…..certainly not for an ineffective starter - a High A pitcher & potentially another Brooks Lee “highly rated” type in Mayo.
  5. Baldelli………his players being hurt or underperforming in the batter’s box ……blended with FO cutting budget in ‘24 and status quo in ‘25.
  6. I was curious on Jorge so I checked - he’s 5-0 for the Nationals in ‘25………hang on…….with a 7.41 ERA. How one achieves that record with little ability to get outs is perplexing. I guess he comes in & gets behind and the offense then puts the Nats ahead & somebody else gets a save??
  7. I say the same things about players managed by Baldelli…….they gotta get it done and Baltimore’s STARS like Henderson & Holiday are not. Lots of hype over a kid in Holiday the past 18 months…….he’s still a kid. They let Santander go so that’s a pretty big “potential bat” out of the previous ‘23-‘24 line-up. They let their best starting pitcher (Burnes) leave and coupled with an injury, their rotation is brutal. Coulombe pitched in 33 games and had a 2.12ERA - he’s with the Twins now. One can’t “manage” around those circumstances ………..new ownership in Baltimore, with all the potential $$, needs to look in the mirror and at FO. Completely agree on Buxton’s contributions on Thursday - nice all around game & taking walks occasionally could be his last big step at the plate this year…….few less K’s would be nice. Baldelli’s personal version of media - FO - general eye test…… “hype” for Royce Lewis puts the Manager in MN in the same position as the guy in Baltimore. Lewis has done nothing over 20% through the season and the Manager is clueless because of Lewis lack of contribution………Wallner - same. Tough to manage when 2 of 4 of your best potential bats don’t play and one (Correa) has been in an extreme funk for nearly all of the first 20% of the season. Baldelli doesn’t have a magic wand.
  8. Larnach had no HR’s and was hitting about .170, maybe 3 plus weeks ago ….. he’s on pace for 25 HR’s now……up to around .230. France & Bader continue to make positive contributions! Pitching getting it done almost routinely. Duran is in a groove. He & Jax need a day off! 5 RUNS with 5 hits & 5 walks is a good thing!! Last, Lee seems to be hitting the ball with authority a couple times in at least every other game……..much better than once or twice per week.
  9. Didn’t seem to bother him in ‘24 as he lead baseball in backward K’s………guy in 2nd had 100 less PA’s. That, to me is telling. He’s mentally locked up in the box.
  10. His bunting may be beyond repair - he’s absolutely brutal when squaring around AND he’s even more brutal trying to swing away……….if Larnach is “barely passable” I don’t have an adjective/description I can use in public for Kiersey’s offense. Kiersey has been in 26 games and has started roughly a dozen. He has TWO total bases. His 2 hits have earned him BA - OBP - Slug% all at .069. He’s 2-29 with zero walks. I’m all for Rodney Cline helping anyone he feels deserves his time - Kiersey, why not? Rod better have some Valium to get through a bunting/hitting session with DaShawn!
  11. So, their best statistical hitter of ‘25 coming back from ‘24 wasn’t mentioned above, Matt Wallner. I completely AGREE that a combination of Vazquez or Paddack or Castro mixed with a BIGGER chip in Duran or maybe Matthews would have, could have, garnered a real bat from someone! Personally, I thought Tristan Casas should have been the target - no crystal ball here - he was OK to poor so far this year and is now out for the year. Jeffers - France - Buxton - Bader - Lee all have above .700 OPS (league average) Wallner and Keaschall are well over .800 & 1.000 OPS, respectively. Lewis should be back tomorrow and certainly has above .700 OPS talent……displacing Julien in the line-up. Keaschall - DH….Buxton - CF….Larnach - LF….Lewis - 3B….Wallner - RF….Correa - SS….Jeffers - C….France - 1B….Lee - 2B 7 guys above .700 OPS above and Larnach & Correa should both get to & sustain a .700 plus OPS as well. Bader and Castro and Bride will split up the innings that Keaschall should eventually get by mid-July. Bader - Castro - Vazquez - Bride as guys off the bench. To me, this is a better than average line-up that would put up Top 10-14 offense w/o issue. I’m not ignorant to the fact that the offense has been disappointing and lackluster waay toooo often. They have been steadily improving and the last, nearly 5 full months, hold much promise. Starters blended ERA 3.97. Staff overall ERA 3.60. Little better situational hitting and some better health and things should turn!
  12. Alcala was optioned March 30 & he has one more option to be used this year. I do not like wasting bullets of Festa & Matthews in St Paul - between Alcala’s spot and/or pairing one of them with Paddack or SWR in a piggyback approach - worth getting Alcala right at AAA and getting some value from Festa or Matthews right now.
  13. The question was, who would hire Falvey …… don’t understand your comments here. He’s developed pitching depth and the budget was reversed in ‘24 and this ‘25 by ownership. “Other organizations”?
  14. David Festa started 3 games in the Show this April when Lopez went down. He had an ERA of 1.38 over those starts. He accumulated .6 WAR. His strikeout to walk ratio was 3:1. His strikeouts per 9 innings were 10.4. Festa, while not going deep in games, has pitched as well as anyone on the Staff to date. Not sure what you’re watching? Dobnack & Smelzer comparisons make me smile. Matthews started 2024 in A ball. He was in the Majors by August. He wasn’t perfect & I agree he gets a lot of press here in TD. Smelzer & Dobnack though ……..there’s a bit of a difference.
  15. Didn’t see the game today. You gotta be kidding me - a ball your grandmother could have caught but dropped in the outfield is the Manager’s fault? Seriously? When does this practice time come into play? They just played 13 straight days. Since when does the Manager conduct OF practice? It’s not high school. How can you mock Larnach & Bride and point out that they are professionals & never should have let the ball drop and then say ….. however, it’s actually the Manager’s fault it dropped. Makes no sense IMO. I’m not in love with Rocco but I typically stick up for him when logic doesn’t seem to be applied.
  16. Maybe one that hasn’t developed pitching well ………….& is willing to spend some $$ on players with some consistency.
  17. Cleveland has/had Jose Rameriz wreaking havoc on opposing pitchers - routinely! Happening for years.
  18. Eris, refreshing attitude ……. seem to be a logical person here!! It’s not the fans job (at TD nor anywhere) to worry about how the GM or ownership is handling/addressing attendance. I don’t get the “hunt” for things to worry about or complain about? Roster construction - sure. Castro - Wallner - Lewis - Keaschall are 4 of Top 7-9 offensive players, out of 13 position players. You can’t GM nor Manage your way around those circumstances. Eris is right, Bader & France are performing as well as or better than anyone expected - same GM signed them this past offseason. Can’t be accused of screwing everything up as GM and then have these two assumed to be lucky signings - right? Pitching is fine. Alcala is an ongoing problem that should be addressed. Stewart seems to have lost his fastball edge and thus, effectiveness. Starters have been very consistent in keeping Team competitive. 1-2-3-1 runs in recent 4 game losing streak. I get it’s frustrating to have Gasper - Kiersey - Clemens on the 26 man but filling those spots with AAA guys is not sound if they aren’t shining in AAA. McCusker may deserve a look soon but nobody else is tearing it up…….for 12 months everyone wanted Kiersey to get a chance…… decent defense, OK to good base running, but can’t bunt at all & can’t hit at all……pretty sure if they had a better player to move him down they’d act on it - it’s in nobody’s interest to hide talent and lose games. GM could have done better via trade of pitching for a bat in offseason! That’s over, let’s move on “…..& start Sunday with some positives.”
  19. PLAYER - PLAYER - PLAYER if you haven’t learned techniques and refined them by age 25 you’re just not very good! You can’t coach results. You can coach strategy - placement - & yes, technique, but the player has to put in the reps and perfect/master. Coaches don’t make plays. There’s a reason that many, many successful coaches (numerous sports) say “………..good players make good coaches”! Eddie has zero instincts and that’s tough to overcome at his age - not impossible but pretty tough.
  20. Still just with the minimum amount of runs to have any expectation of winning the game. Can anybody bunt on the entire Club? In ‘23 they scored quite a few runs with Safety Squeeze - not sure if anyone can execute that play anymore? Author stated Ober has a 2.00 ERA after his first start - impressive!! A real pitcher, with command - not great stuff but he has a nice approach and generally very good control. Pen came though in the end …….Stewart might have to get the mysterious Judge Smails injury to be able to go to IL & get his act together…….got to be better! Big hit for Larnach today - Buxton/Jeffers/Bader all with two hits …… better today at the plate…….a ways to go!! Jax great job! Sands hung tough and worked his way through some bad luck. Duran’s got it going!!
  21. Alcala to AAA - Festa, Morris, Matthews or preferably PADDACK to the Pen for duty twice a week for a couple innings at a time and max effort. One as 5th starter. Gotta get better results this way than Alcala on the roller coaster of effectiveness. …..5 hits and 3 runs OR 2 walks & 2 strikeouts …..hard to watch & harder to support keeping him on current staff!
  22. What solutions does trading Buxton, finally (seemingly) healthy at $15M/year, bring? Correa - OK ……..big spread between $15M & $37M. I keep both and make a big swing with trading Duran & one of the Top AAA starters (or like guys) for a real bat - not a Brooks Lee or Austin Martin - somebody else’s “maybe” prospect ……i.e., high draft picks with potential - a real, proven MLB bat.
  23. McCusker can’t be a lesser option than Kiersey - Clemons - etc. ……..why not! Frankly, tired about hearing of Emma’s talent and his OK play and waaay toooo frequent injury issues. Move on to McCusker. Alcala and Varland both have good (stuff) velocity and they are both clueless - emotional - lack command. The rest of the PEN is just fine. Our pitching is NOT the issue! Scoring 1 - 2 - 3 - 1 runs over the last 4 games is a slice of what’s been happening all season - no run production!! Can’t score 11 in a couple games against no talent pitching and think that anything is solved. Going out of last season - through the winter - and now through 1st 20% of the Season - the Offense is not potent enough!! Lewis - Wallner - Keaschall will all help (Castro a bit) a bunch when removing our bottom 3-4 guys on the 26 man but they needed to add a real bat (with NOW potential, not a prospect with credentials) in the offseason. Disgusted with the inability to get more than 6-7 hits per game, often the norm. They can still be at .500 without wholesale changes by mid-June and I really expect that result. The manager doesn’t step into the batter’s box and if a guy that’s in the SHOW needs to be motivated daily to have the right approach at the plate, the players need to be changed out and Manager as well to start a fresh culture. Still 2 months plus away from that approach. Team is FOR SALE so change will be non-existent until that actually takes place, IMO.
  24. I don’t think there are many/any organizations that can deal with 4 of Top 13 position players being out………Wallner - Lewis - Keaschall - Castro are in Team’s Top 8 guys. Miranda is gone & Kiersey & Clemons & Gasper will be gone soon………Julien is potentially secure BUT Bride/Castro combination & certainly Keaschall will probably displace him w/o a significant consistency of offensive output kicking in soon. France (IMO to date) is like a higher performing Carlos Santana of 2024 (under appreciated)……… offensively. 118 OPS+ - .352 OBP - leads Team with 18 RBI Hit the ball hard for outs in a handful of games I’ve seen over last couple weeks. He seems to be capable of hitting .250 & .320 OBP with a bunch of doubles. He’s heading toward 85RBI assuming some regression.
  25. Have you missed the perpetual injuries he’s had…….hip - knee - hip - knee - knee - etc. - etc……… it’s not that wild.
