  1. I get the frustration with numerous SS drafted high and no real results that meet expectations!! SS are traditionally/logically good athletes and thus good hitters coming up from youth - amateur - college baseball. Nothing new here. Gary Sheffield & Henry Aaron are a couple former SS off top of my head. Drafting these types of guys is not unusual. Not getting ANY of them to pan out in recent memory AT SS is certainly frustrating.
  2. It’s a MINOR league contract…….it’s not some huge strategic move to worry about. He’s passing along experience to young guys in St. Paul and available due to injuries if absolutely necessary. Can’t “hurt” anything. Not exciting - not a marketing move, just something that all organizations do at positions of need.
  3. Not a “slam dunk” & a lot of “ifs” ……. describes Twins and about 24 other clubs. If Lee is a 1.25 WAR guy I’d be ecstatic! Lewis just performing to expectations (not some lofty MVP thoughts) gets the Team to competitive. Wallner needs to hit .230 and the rest of his stats will fall in line. A bat of some sort via FA along with a couple support relievers from FA market would reduce the “ifs” needed……fingers crossed.
  4. Kriedler and Fitzgerald were redundant. Am assuming that Kriedler is still on the 40-Man. To me, this is a minor depth move in case of injury with Bell/Clemens. He may not still be on the roster by the time April rolls around.
  5. You get down on someone for not being astute and giving credit for Keaschall’s rise as a Rookie and Jenkin’s accomplishments in MiLB BUT then you say Wallner is above average and an ideal DH………come on, the guy’s been sent down for weeks and weeks over past 3 seasons and or hurt……. he’s got fabulous power but on a day to day basis he’s barely mediocre. A .200 BA with 20 plus HR and less than 40 RBI with an extremely high K rate is not what any Team is looking for in a DH. If he were from Kenosha instead of Forrest Lake he’d have about 5 supporters here. I don’t think Wallner is without potential but he sure as hell better start showing it or he’ll be gone……..can’t hit great for 4 games, 4/5 times during the season and suck the rest of the time ……..not an affective contributor with that profile. He’s the antithesis of clutch.
  6. His previous Team didn’t protect him - right? Can’t be that good. Had you heard of him prior to the Rule 5 claim? Don’t see this as something to be too concerned about
  7. 2025: Wallner regressed! Larnach was not platooned properly and was exposed v. LH pitching. Lewis was bad or underperformed 80% of the games he played. Lee was disappointing in his first true full season. Those 4 guys could/should all play considerably better…… not big stars but acceptably……..that with our rotation and good baseball by Jeffers/Buxton/Bell/Keaschall and the Team has a real shot at being competitive. Need a shot in the arm in PEN & at SS via Free Agency.
  8. Lee - Larnach - Bell are all guys found on good rosters around baseball ……. just not guys expected to carry the heavy load of offense and a bit less defense. They are good 8, 9, 10 guys at least. Your point is well taken, Team needs more offensive help!!
  9. Larnach v. Eddie, to me, is laughable. Larnach hits v. RH pitching, period. Larnach wasn’t platooned properly in ‘25 & his numbers took a hit…….. Eddie try’s to walk……and often, takes strike 3.
  10. Low expectations for Lee (realistic) - Wallner & Lewis need to get back to their expectations of production, not stars, but can not suck. Julien can’t make the Team unless he hits .400 in Spring Training…….. so he’s gone. Trade deadline “tear down” was just exchanging established relievers for upside, highly touted youth……….. Abel - Bradley - Rojas. Had to rid organization of Correa’s ups & downs at the plate and physically…… can’t pay $33M for that level of performance!! Stewart was hurt a handful of days after landing with Dodgers and Coulombe was a pending FA, along with Paddack ……….Bader & Castro were to be FA’s as well. The only deadline moves that stung were Duran - Jax - Varland, that’s it - the rest is just mob rule bitching. Those 3 relievers are SIGNIFICANT!!! Adding Abel - Bradley - Rojas will “hopefully” be significant in a positive way. If organization spends another $15-$20M on 3 guys (SS & 2 Relievers) Team could actually approach 90 wins, IMO.
  11. Generally agree on all. More bluntly put, Julien is gone - Outman has one foot off the DFA cliff - Clemens is holing on to Outman’s belt.
  12. Eddie Julien or Eduardo Julien comes off the list……… Playing “Keaschall at 1B so Julien can get some playing time……….” that can’t happen. I’d love Keaschall to play 1B regularly (at least before acquiring Bell) but not so Eddie has a spot - to me, he’s washed! Lee, for me, should be a solid 2B option OR the roaming back-up at 3B, SS, & 2B. Needs are for a competent SS, and for one of the minor league OF to step up by end of May …….. preferably, Gonzalez. Lee & Kriedler or Fitzgerald at SS is not inspiring!! IF, if Wallner hits - Larnach is himself v. RH pitching as DH, the Team will be fine. Lewis, obviously, has to hit .260 plus and stay healthy and he’s a bonus over last 2 seasons.
  13. Giving up on guys too soon happens and has been happening forever in baseball. Holding on to hope and trying to fix guys or let them “develop” is equally as common. Cubs traded Lou Brock as an example. However, at some point decisions need to be made on guys that have played 3-6 years past high school because every year there’s an influx of new bodies. Talent evaluators - coaches - competition within the Team’s organization, these all play into the process of weeding out guys that are not or not likely to produce going forward. Can’t just hang on to everyone so nobody can ever say you made a mistake……..not realistic.
  14. What suggests effin’ Roden is any better or projects to be any better than Outman? To me, both were fliers by the organization. Outman for the inevitably injured Stewart & Roden as a sweetener in the trade focussed on Rojas. Gonzalez seems to be the only realistic option from above for MLB in 2026.
  15. Expecting the Organization, any Organization, to air every thought or strategy via the media is also a big mistake. What Ken Rosenthal or anyone else reports or thinks is just for entertainment sake. Everything & everyone is for sale at the right price - Team, Player or Prospect.
  16. GONZALEZ - Jenkins - Rodriguez all have potential to start contributing with big club by sometime in June. Almost certain, one will be up by then. That’s exciting. Martin looked good at the end of ‘25. The experiment with Larnach facing LH pitching should be over and his numbers will elevate primarily as DH. Need to have a back-up plan for Lee!! He could potentially play 2B daily or more likely 2B - 3B - SS as the depth piece going forward. To me, he is the. biggest potential to be the weak link both defensively and at the plate.
  17. Draft right - assume attrition amongst high draft picks and highly publicized prospects. Also, Guys like Matthews - Festa - Ober, from much lower round draft pick slots can be developed! There’s no magic in grinding through established players that contribute (Ryan - Larnach - Lopez) to get more “highly touted prospects” ………. prospects are always just that, a hopeful future…….nothing guaranteed. The trading to restock has been done in summer of ‘25. The competing for a Division Totle should start with current Club and a couple FA relievers and maybe trade for a bat. Core is in place - guys (Lewis - Lee - Jeffers - Marrin) that were prospects need to perform!
  18. Exactly! Bored & looking at other Team’s Minor League transactions is no way to gauge any sort of future success. It’s just a way to twist other Team’s busy work into a rationalized way to bitch about the FO in Mpls. Senseless, IMO. The Twin’s Minor League system is ranked in Top 5, I believe? Last deadline the Team made moves that got them the highest rated Catcher in MiLB - Abel - Bradley - Rojas & 3-4 outfielders that may or may not turn out to be anything, etc. Plenty of activity with players that are much closer to benefitting the Club. These moves seem much more worth our time, IMO. Watching other Divisional rivals MiLB moves is like listening to the police scanner.
  19. Completely agreed on SWR, I don’t get the disdain either. Per this article, it appears Ober was ineffective with guys on base in ‘25 - seems to me that his physical ailments had more of an effect when he pitched out of the stretch. The stats back that up. Hopeful for a healthy bounce back season. Also agreed, need starter depth! Trading guys out of “fan like boredom” is not the way to run an organization. Trading guys at “peak value” to accumulate more prospects when some “neutral sources” see the TWINS system as Top 5 in the game……. it makes no sense. Don’t need more guys in Minors that we all HOPE will work out. Winning trades on paper do nothing for teams - guys playing well win games. Being sensitive about Prielipp going into the PEN because his innings need to be monitored - his skills need to be sharpened doesn’t make sense. PEN needs talent! Santana started out in bullpen & he worked out OK …….. the PEN is not a path from which a guy can’t return from, regarding being a starter some day. This applies to Raya - Morris as well. Personally, Matthews is the Team’s back end guy in ‘26. Festa & Abel back up Ober & Bradley for the 4&5 slots.
  20. Would some Team trade an effective starting pitcher like SWR or Ober for Matt Wallner? Maybe? Vientos is the same streaky type hitter but he doesn’t have a position nor Wallner’s upside…………redundant here but Team can’t seriously pursue this.
  21. I can’t take this seriousl! A poor defender coming off a sub .300 OBP season after a “good year” with his .322 OBP in ‘24. The sense is Twins need to send a starting pitcher for this level of player…….some say SWR or Ober wouldn’t be enough….. how is that possible??? Hell, play Clemens at 3B and you get 20 HR pace, when he plays & a poor defender at 3B…….not serious here with Clemens but Vientos is hardly the answer for a team trying to improve. I don’t get the take at all other than he plays in a big market so people recognize his name AND the Met’s are trying to shop him.
  22. If there were one or two potential prospects in the Twin’s system at 1B, I would agree. To me, the cupboard’s bare at 1B. Professionally polished hitters with some upside, that also have a good glove (Walker), is never a bad move on a short (2 yrs) deal. …… Bell is a 1 year deal. Acquire options!! Can always trade and move on if youth rises to proper level for MLB success.
  23. Team spent $154M in ‘23 and nearly $140M prior, in ‘22 ………… if they just stayed level at $154M (even with Correa’s salary included) they would have been competitive in ‘24 & ‘25.
  24. The ASTROS said “no” at the time. Walker goes wherever those who have him under contract deem he should be. His alternative is to retire. I don’t hate the idea either. Seems Bell or Larnach gets traded somewhere where if they would acquire Walker.
