  1. Helman would have made a lot more sense. Maybe Sanchez/Leon is dinged up and we need a backup for a couple nights?? I'm expecting more moves in the next few days.
  2. No on Wallner, not this year. Seems to start slow at each level and then improve. If he starts to excel at AAA, we can expect a slow start with the Twins as well. There will certainly be those who will want him sent back down to the minors after a week. The key will be to not move in reverse like Sano did at the end of his time with the Twins.
  3. Just being on the IL has made Jeffers, Garlick and Larnach look SO much better. Jeffers at least gets a hit once in awhile, Garlick can hit lefties and Larnach can mean we don't have to suffer through Jake Cave (though I like how he tries hard).
  4. I was curious how our minor league teams rank in SB as the Twins are dead last. St. Paul - 99 SB, caught 23 times. 13th out of 20 teams. Wichita - 141-40, 3rd out of 10 teams. Cedar Rapids - 125-40, 6th out of 12 teams. Fort Myers - 157-64, 3rd in steals but caught stealing the most times (they are trying). Individually - St. Paul - Helman 20-3, Contreras 16-2, Lewis 12-2, Cave 10-0, and Palacios 10-8 (wow, he gets caught stealing a lot). Wichita - Kiersey 34-4, Martin 27-4, Julien 14-6, Helman 10-0. Cedar Rapids - Holland 21-4, Soularie 18-5, Garry 12-3, Gray 12-5, Prato 12-4, Perez 11-1. Fort Myers - Perez 32-5, Baez 19-2, Miller 19-7, Ozoria 17-3, Rucker 13-7, E.Rodriguez 11-5, Cardenas 10-5 (great for a catcher!) Looks like our best base stealers are Helman, Lewis, Kiersey, Martin, Holland, Perez and E. Rodriguez. Other than Rodriguez, everyone else seems to be border line for making it to the majors unless Martin turns it around. Now, the Twins certainly could have and still could bring up Helman in place of Beckham. Beckham rarely plays, does not hit major league pitching like he does AAA, seems to be a liability in the field and is not fast. Helman plays many positions and believe is good defensively, obviously can steal, is hitting decently at AAA, and bats RH, which we need right now.
  5. Royce Lewis too low. Strotman too high, shouldn't be on the list. Mooney seems high as I think Headrick has done better and should be in the top 30. Guys on the 40 man (and not the Twins) but dropping - Balazovic, Henriquez, Enlow, Strotman. Can't see Henriquez and Strotman making it through the winter on the 40 man roster. A bunch of guys on here who need to be added to the 40 man or potentially be lost - Wallner, SWR, Urbina (wow, he is a long way from making the majors but is playing well...kind of like Baddoo), Canterino, Varland, Julien, Palacios, Mooney, Legumina, Cruz, Helman. My prediction is everyone on the list through Palacios will be added to the 40 man (except Urbina) but not the last 4 guys. None of the traded guys (Steer, ECS, Haijar, Povich) made the top 100. Steer is the #7 prospect for the Reds.
  6. Why not Sisk to add a 2nd lefty. He is pitching much better than Moran in St. Paul. Whip is 1.10 vs. 1.63.
  7. Great game for Gossett! Isola comes back from injury and continues hitting. If he projects at least average as a catcher, the Twins may have to pray that he isn't taken in the Rule 5 draft. I just don't see the Twins adding him to the 40 man roster.
  8. Anyone know - are they drafting high schoolers who are taking 3-4 years to get through the minors or are they drafting college players who spend very little time in the minors?
  9. Wow, it has been Cedar Rapids year. One hit and win the game. Move pitchers up, trade pitchers, it doesn't matter. The new guys pitch just as well as the old. I wonder who their pitching coach is.
  10. Remember, you were all for sending Miranda to the minors (and never bringing him back) and/or trading him with his horrible start on a SSS with the Twins. It takes some players more time than others to master the next level. And, of course, some don't make it. There is a happy medium where we give guys some time to grow.
  11. Henriquez, Hamilton, Contreras, Strotman would all be candidates. None of these will be on the 40 man this winter anyway.
  12. Pitchers - Enlow, Cruz, Laweryson, Rijo HItters - Martin, Sabato, Winkel, Holland
  13. Simply not true on the majority of his starts this year. Just moved up to St. Paul at age 21.
  14. In another thread, we have people saying that Rice University overuses their pitchers and causes future arm injuries (Canterino). Here, we are saying that underusing pitchers will make them sign elsewhere. I believe players and agents will avoid places where they are overused like at Rice and I don't believe this philosophy will keep pitchers away from the Twins.
  15. I think Bundy and Archer have done what the Twins expected and maybe hoped. They have been the most consistent starters to take the ball every 6th day. The Twins have there own internal salary cap and need the 5 inning, 2 times through the batting order starting pitcher to be a cheaper, younger, better, throw 6 innings sometimes pitcher like a healthy Winder and Ober would be. At least, you can't have two starters who consistently throw 4 or 5 innings in a game (and we need Gray, Mahle and Ryan to more consistently go 6 innings).
  16. Steven Cruz has quietly started throwing strikes. The flame thrower seems to be mowing down the opposition every time I see him in the box scores lately for Wichita.
  17. He is not our 3rd best pitcher (we only traded an A level player for him). Duran, Lopez, Jax and Theilbar are all better than Fulmer.
  18. Noticed that as well. Other things from that game - Derek Rodriguez was great but the other 3, all guys talked about at some point as potentially helping out the Twins, Henriquez, Schulfer and Moran, were horid. And that was to get all the Twins top 4 minor league teams to sweep the night. Damn Yankees! Rortvedt batted cleanup for the Yankees but went hitless, dropping his average to .177. Maybe he will never hit well enough to catch in the majors.
  19. Unless he is working on something in St. Paul, he has not been pitching well since he was sent down.
  20. "Expect at least one 2022 draft pick to be promoted to Cedar Rapids on Tuesday." Now, there is a tease! Has to be Prielipp, right? Do they even have a spot for Schobel with Lee already there.............unless it's musical chairs with Julien going to AAA and Martin playing OF at AA, with Javier going to AA to play the infield.
  21. Max - constantly hitting ground balls to the right side of the infield does not work. You either have to hit a bunch of balls to the left side and, when they shift back, return to pulling the ball OR practice bunting so much that you get on first most times. There isn't anyone near third base. It's an easy single, which is much better than 0 for 29.
  22. My guess is that this was his bullpen throwing day (didn't actually look when he started this week) between starts and they decided to just throw him in for an inning of relief instead. Seems to happen with a few guys in the minors on Sundays, possibly because of the Monday off day and how the rotation falls the next week.
  23. I'm not ready for Julien to be promoted to the majors but I AM ready for him to go to St. Paul. What does he have left to prove in Wichita?
