  1. Now, which of these guys also add defense or speed to their hitting? Rodriguez is definitely the best at both. Cardenas is probably the next best defensively. Other guys who steal bases - Helman clearly up there and then Julien. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems we don't develop enough players who are great defenders and can hit some.
  2. I hope you are right and the ankle/back/knee/etc are all fine next year. He has put a lot of miles on his body as he played all the time in previous years.
  3. Except Polanco's issue defensively last year, as well just playing, was an injured back. That and age don't usually disappear every other year. Hope I'm wrong but I think Polanco is someone who will battle injuries throughout the rest of his career.
  4. Pagan's "good" numbers at the end of last year were mostly in mop-up type situations. His numbers with two strikes on the batter had to be horrible. Do I think his problems could be mental? Yes. Do I think he has or will fix that? No. Three bad years so three strikes and he should be out.
  5. Rooker claimed by the A's. He does great in AAA but not the majors. I didn't want the Twins to get him back.

  7. If the Twins didn't add Sisk and Helman in September to check them out against mlb teams, that told me they weren't going to add them now. They will hope to keep them with the Saints. Sisk is more at risk of being selected in the Rule 5 just because he is a pitcher but I still don't think he will be.
  8. Same with Canterino if we are okay with him earning major league service time (someone correct me if I'm wrong about that). If adding Legumina costs Pagan a 40 man spot, I'm all for it. Contreras will be run through waivers at some time. Garlick too. To me, filling the 40 man means we plan to do some trading.
  9. If we want an older, slow guy, sign me up for a great hitter like Jose Abreu. I like Haniger but really would rather spend money on Nimmo. Abreu's RH bat balances our lineup more and gives us some insurance at 1B if Kirilloff doesn't fully recover.
  10. Enlow is already on the 40 man and is not Rule 5 eligible. If he is taken off the 40 man, he would be subject to a waiver claim. If the Twins kept him on the 40 man the 40 man all of 2022, I don't see them waiving him now. The Rule 5 draft is mostly about pitching so I add Headrick (Twins lack much quality in LH starting pitching after trading two away last summer) along with Julien and Canterino to the 40 man.
  11. Look at all the catchers on this list! We may not have great talent in the upper minors at this position but we certainly have some great people!!
  12. Yes, Camargo is out best catcher in the minors. This article is odd. There is zero chance that Bechtold and Banuelos get added to the 40 man. Nobody is taking them in the Rule 5 draft. Bechtold really isn't a catcher at all, rarely catching more than a couple games a week. Banuelos can't hit at all. Isola is a good hitter but also plays other positions more than catching. Other than Camargo, we are looking at Winkel and Cardenas as our best catching prospects, but they are years away from the majors. Camargo is the one that could get added to the 40 man.
  13. They rarely take AAA players in the AFL. I'm thinking the Twins wanted him here and thus didn't move him to AAA in September. Isola - I agree with jmlease. He catches so few games in the minors and in the AFL, that I don't even consider him anything more than an emergency catcher. If he's a 1B, his hitting has to be on Julien's level or he's just another good body in the minors, not worthy of getting to MLB.
  14. How exactly do you as a fan "know" when a pitcher has recovered from an injury?
  15. I am the lone ranger on the David Festa bandwagon, my personal Twins minor league pitcher of the year. He competed at two levels this year and had by far the best numbers of any pitcher with significant innings. I believe he is hitting 98 mph and he has been healthy. In his playoff game, he went 7 innings with something like 10 K's and 1 hit allowed (and that game doesn't get included in of the stats when the year's minor league stats are posted). He's my pick.
  16. With teams wanting as many pitchers as possible on them, you can see why the Twins and others play their minor league players in many different positions. That advantage goes to Martin. Julien will be stuck at 2B IMO. His batting will have to be what gets him to the Twins and his fielding has to be at least okay. I love Julien's AB's, the way you explained them. I think they absolutely wear out pitching staffs and set the table for the middle of the lineup.
  17. Enlow - he returned from TJ surgery in 2022 and won't end up on the 60 day IL in 2023. If you are predicting another one, he is no longer in the Twins plans at that point. As for 2022, he probably did what the Twins expected, which is why I think he will stay on the 40 man into next year. I do agree with you, he must produce in 2023 or someone will take his 40 man roster spot.
  18. Since we are spending, keep Correa and add Judge. Now, that would be a lineup!
  19. As much as I bash Kepler's hitting, especially grounding into the shift, he is A+ in RF and deserves the gold glove.
  20. Great comment. We drafted six SS's last year and another in the 1st round the year before. Doesn't mean that the Twins plans change but nothing points to signing a SS for ten years at $300 million. And like you say, the GM's with similar internal salary caps are not doing this. Just look at Donaldson - his four-year contract felt like an anchor after two years and we had to give up players for the Yankees to take him.
  21. Exactly! I want Rodon, Nimmo, Abreu and spend a few million on another catcher. That means we have to get rid of some salary elsewhere. Urshela will not be with the Twins in 2024. He had a good year and this is the peak of his trade value IMO. Miranda needs to be at 3B as we can't just DH him because of Buxton. If he has a poor first half in 2023, he is worth nothing.
  22. Isola certainly getting the short end of the stick with his playing time in the AFL.
  23. That is one way to force the starters to go longer in games.
  24. FYI - the rules will not allow a team to carry 14 pitchers.
  25. Wow, I had the impression that Correa had the best arm strength. I believe Arraez is underrated at 2B and that is where he will end up. Celestino - just needs to use his arm strength wisely and hit cutoffs more often. Maybe we should be trying him out as a pitcher.................
