  1. Moving to AA can be a challenge as Schobel is learning. Off to a slow start but I'm thinking he will make the adjustments and do well. Anyone know why Larnach was pulled after 1 AB last night?
  2. Julien does that same thing, taking too many strikes. Much preferable to swinging at everything. Don't see many minor leaguers that do that and I think it bodes well for E-Rod.
  3. Odd, Larnach pulled after 1 AB tonight with St. Paul. Would he now be coming up with Gallo going on the IL? Probably not but odd......... The other bad news is that he has been mostly dreadful with the Saints for a month after posting great early numbers there.
  4. Is Gallo really having trouble seeing? And is that why he bunted? Rough spot to be put in (I know he pinch ran), batting against 90+ mph pitchers if so.
  5. Today would have been the day to trust Solano with something sharp. He would have swung and missed!
  6. No, I don't think he is the next Dozier. I think Schobel has a chance to be that. Prato hitting .171 at Wichita is a huge red flag to me. Others disagree but I don't think the Twins see him as a future MLB player at this point. He does fit the utility role. For next year, he will behind numerous guys in that area - Martin, Helman and of course, Willi Castro with the Twins. Prove me wrong Mr. Prato!
  7. What wasn't mentioned above is that the throw from the catcher also nailed him on one bounce.
  8. Keuchel and his agent, Scott Boras, were really nice to not opt-out. The Twins will be equally as nice if they decide not to call him up and do exactly what he wants, whether it is releasing him or trading him. It's a win-win for both sides.
  9. Uffda, the DSL Twins are having a rough time at 7-25!! This McCusker guy took over as the main hitter, signed just about the time their former main hitter, Ortega, got called up to Cedar Rapids. Any OF spots open up there Kernels? Urbina, E-Rod and Rosario are there so probably not unless we are moving one of the last two up to Wichita.
  10. Dream - Buxton in CF. Reality - a rotation of Lewis, Polanco, Julien, Buxton at 3B, 2B and DH. Julien would skip the LH's though I don't like it when they "teach" the rookies that they can't hit certain pitchers.
  11. Yoshida, Jung, Henderson are too far ahead for Julien to catch up.
  12. With Lewis and Polanco coming back and Julien now a lock to stay, who exactly are the Twins removing from the roster for this RH bat, as we don't seem to have any inkling that Gallo or Kepler are going to be gone?
  13. My guess is that the Twins told him he is the next man up or they plan to bring him up for a spot start to give everyone an extra day of rest. Or they said, at a minimum, they will bring him up for long relief (not sure he wants that though) at some point, probably in place of Cole Sands when he pitches multiple innings. This is where there is a lot of trust between the Twins and Scott Boras, his agent.
  14. Noah Miller with his 5th homer and a pair of hits (didn't realize he is no longer in our top 20 prospects - with his D at SS and youth, even a little hitting should have him back on this list). Winder - many more games like this and he will pitch himself right off the 40 man roster for next year. ERA is over 6.
  15. Radio announcers just said that Rocco said Polanco will play some 3B with the Saints in his rehab.
  16. He must be a terrible fielder though as Julien and Wallner play in the field as Buxton DH's....
  17. Not sure why everyone does choose to go on pins and needles. That has to hurt!
  18. Wow, E-Rod is up even after the first couple months that he had this year. July has been fantastic but I'm not even sure that totally factored into Law's ratings (or is he doing all of this after last night's games??).
  19. Sure was hoping he would flourish in St. Paul this year. Batting .245 with only 2 homers with the Saints makes me think he is a worse version of Taylor, much worse on the bases. I would rather have Stevenson at this point, even though he's a little older. I'm not even sure he stays on the 40 man roster through the winter at this point. The last two months should point the Twins in the right direction on him.
  20. No. Cruz has no managerial experience. I want Brian Dinkleman, the manager of the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Whether he gets a bunch of top young prospects, or older non-top 20 players(and has players leaving for Wichita and coming from Fort Myers), he has his teams winning every year and most of the players seem to improve there over time. An outside the box candidate maybe but teamed up with a veteran bench coach, that's my choice.
  21. Anyone know why Festa is getting the Raya treatment lately (and it seems some other starters are also throwing less pitches per game now)? 3 great innings, 50 pitches and he is done. Seems like last year he was throwing 5 or 6 innings at this time of year. Equally great job by Bentley and Grace in relief though.
  22. You can say the exact same thing about veterans playing like they did last year. The Twins are a good example - if our stars and big money players hit like they have in the past, we would have a big lead in the Central. And Julien is playing exactly like he did in the minors, both hitting and fielding (SSS so far).
  23. If every player and agent tells the Twins where they should play, this is now the NBA. What's next, demanding they bat 1st in the batting lineup? I'm only fine with the agent demand for 2023 and not beyond. That's my rant. With Buxton at DH, Lewis, Correa, Lee and Kirilloff in the infield, what do you with Julien? Someone good has to play CF. Lewis and Buxton qualify. Martin playing like he did in the Arizona Fall League would as well. Stevenson and Keirsey are long shots. The Twins are so much better with either Lewis or Buxton in CF.
  24. Sometimes we just think we have a logjam and then suddenly we end up with no logs. We traded Steer as Miranda was having a great rookie year plus Lewis was coming back. Suddenly Miranda can't hit for power (shoulder?) and Lewis is on the IL and Steer is tearing up the league. For this year, I want Julien in the lineup 6 days out of 7, even against LH's (don't teach our young guys that they can only hit RH's). 2B or DH are the only two spots right now that Julien can play. He would need some work at 1B to play there and will not be at 3B or LF. For 2024, I just don't see Polanco on the Twins. Even if we move Lewis to CF, we still have Lee (or a Miranda comeback) at 3B, Correa at SS, Julien/Lee/Martin at 2B, with Castro and Farmer backing up everything (or playing until Lee is ready). All of this is based upon a certain someone still playing every day at DH.
