  1. And/or Severino, though his K rate is disturbing. As if the Saints need any more talent. Those higher ticket prices may be worth it.
  2. This is the area I see the Twins trading for at the deadline. And it usually doesn't cost more than a minor leaguer who the Twins can't protect anyway on the 40 man roster over the winter because they have too many guys, for a 4th best reliever.
  3. I think Schobel is ready to be moved up to Wichita, along with Rosario probably. And Wichita needs all the help they can get.
  4. I've criticized Rocco for pinch hitting way too early this year so today I give him credit for a lot of good moves at the right time. Deciding to pinch hit Jeffers and clear the bench with Buxton was the right call and he managed the pitching to get our three best bullpen guys in the game in the 8th, 9th and 10th innings. And good things can happen if you just put the bat on the ball. Need more of that.
  5. Exactly who are you bringing up from Wichita? Who is Sanchez blocking (Winder is a reliever now)? Festa is reported to have good stuff but has struggled with one bad inning in many games this year. He needs more time in Wichita. We traded away Haijar and Povich (bad trades but I would have done them at the time) who would be at that level. Enlow is already pitching for the Saints. Sanchez purpose is to be ready for an emergency start for the Twins. He gets added to the 40 man roster, pitches, and then gets DFA'd and probably returns to St. Paul. We can't do that with guys like Enlow as they will get claimed by another team.
  6. Those Saints can really hit. Stevenson, Miranda and Wallner combine for 7 hits in the top 3 spots in the order.
  7. Ortega did go to St. Paul and pitched 2 innings tonight. Yes, Julien is really bad at 2B. Such a good bat (not tonight) but he better practice 1B. Otherwise, he is a DH only. He costs the team numerous runs with his D at 2B. Arraez looks like a gold glover compared to him.
  8. 2 busts but picking 27th is not a guarantee with Sabato. Cavaco was one of the biggest mistakes this FO made. TBD - Miller was 36th and is still very young. Fringe MLB - Rooker, 23 career HR's so far. Trade chip - Petty for Gray looks good now as we got two years from Sonny. Would like to find out soon - Larnach and Wallner and I wish we would find out now, replacing Gallo and Kepler. Great picks - Lewis and Lee, the only top 12 picks. Double digit picks that make it to the majors do offset the Sabato, Cavaco and Rooker picks with Ober, Varland and Julien.
  9. Emma Rodriguez - 2025. Very slow start this year, with some people saying he's not going to make it to MLB. Seems to me I've heard his defense may eventually be more suited for LF/RF but maybe Seth or someone more knowledgeable can shed some light. He will be on the 40 man though this winter.
  10. Some good games from Enlow with the Saints, Lee with the Wind Surge, and E-rod, Miller and Urbina with the Kernels. All three of these Kernels have picked it up after slow starts while Rosario is slumping a little this week.
  11. Gordon vs. Taylor - Taylor is better at bunting, stealing bases, defense (by far). Gordon may be better at hitting, if 2022 wasn't a one year aberration. If Buxton can't play CF, I would rather have Taylor than Gordon.
  12. Which is why many are saying, get rid of Gallo and Kepler and let's sink or swim with Larnach and Wallner (slight drop off defensively but, as reported elsewhere on TD, Kepler's defense is nothing special this year).
  13. Lewis and Kirilloff certainly can play LF. Rocco has said they want Lewis at 3B for the rest of the year (though a Correa injury could change that to SS). Polanco and Julien, no. Julien tried 3B and LF in the minors and the Twins have totally abandoned that thought. He is bad at 2B and worse at 3B and LF. With the Saints, Julien is not playing 1B so I don't think that is going to happen this year (and we do get worse at two positions defensively by taking Kirilloff from there). Buxton must hit as the DH or he is ultimately taking a good bat out of the lineup in Julien, when Polanco returns.
  14. Lewis is the best option in CF. One option you didn't mention Doc is Stevenson. He is having a fantastic year with the Saints. His first shot at MLB didn't go well but is he ready now, or is he really a AAAA player? Celestino and Martin will both be on the 40 man roster in 2024 so there will be pressure to perform to stay there, especially for Celestino. Keirsey will pass through the Rule 5 draft as he is older. Same for Helmin. Other than Celestino, all of these guys are great base stealers with Stevenson and Keirsey already with 26 and 24 steals this year, respectively.
  15. Cardenas would be more likely to move up than Cossetti. He has a .406 OBP and I believe his D is pretty good.
  16. Williams is nothing more than an emergency catcher (only caught 3 games all this year). The Twins really don't want to carry 3 catchers on the 40 man roster long-term in 2023. That is why they keep signing vets to play in St. Paul and, as Blyleven said above, they signed another vet catcher as soon as Wolters got injured. I believe the Twins are liking Camargo more and more but he's actually playing too well (and is too young) to risk bringing him up short-term and then DFA'ing him. They want to put off this decision of adding him to the 40 man until this winter. My opinion is that they would bring up Kolavsvary if one of our catchers got hurt for a short period. If it was the rest of the year, then Camargo would be the choice.
  17. Lewis continues to dominate, up one level. And Rosario seems to always have the early, key RBI's. He's not doing his damage in garbage time. Both very impressive this year. Time to make room for Kiersey in St. Paul (and for Rosario to move up). Get rid of Kepler, call up Wallner or Larnach and give Kiersey their spot with the Saints. Ortega gets the call to Cedar Rapids as everyone was predicting.
  18. I'm thinking Headrick is headed back down to St. Paul after this performance. Is it for Maeda or do we need another pitcher for a couple days as our starters appear to be stressed out knowing they can't allow a run or they are losing.
  19. Jorel Ortega called up to Cedar Rapids as many predicted. Schobel not going up to Wichita, at least not yet. Cavaco, a complete bust, goes to the development list. Maybe Ortega plays 1B for awhile.
  20. Good to see some of our prospects who have had poor seasons have a great week. If those young guys at Cedar Rapids keep it up like this, that will be a dominant team........and they already won the first half of the league. And Regi Grace is really having a dominant season in the bullpen at two levels this season. Maybe he moves another level and makes the Twins consider putting him on the 40 man roster this winter.
  21. Not really much different than the rest of the games for the Saints this month as they are averaging more than 7.5 runs/game.
  22. If MAT is really injured and ends up on the IL from yesterday's HBP, who do the Twins bring up, Celestino or Stevenson (of note is that Buxton couldn't even make it out to CF for the 9th inning yesterday in an emergency situation as we inserted a pitcher into the batting lineup, losing our DH) . I'm thinking the callup has to be able to play a decent CF. The 40 man roster may dictate the move even though Stevenson looks much more ready to help out right now.
  23. CES was only 6 for 24 (3 hits in 1 game) with 7 SO"s and one RBI for the series. Good job pitching to him this week.
