    A few people have called for Holland to be called up. I don't see it unless it would be in the Kiersey role. I can't ever recall a AAA batter who bats 9th consistently getting called up. The Twins (and every other team) want the future MLB guys getting more AB's in the minors (and Kiersey always batted at the top on the lineup).

    100% incorrect. I was on a youth baseball board 10-15 years ago. We didn't have any pitch limits. Of the 40 or so managers, about 4 would their best pitcher throw 150 pitches in a game. They ranged from 8 years old to 15. When asked why they had their pitcher throw so many pitches, they would say things like, "there's no rule against it," "I threw that much when I was their age," or "I don't have other kids who can throw strikes." Really, they were playing to win. Cal Ripken baseball changed their rules during that time and put different pitch limits for each age to stop managers like these from abusing the young pitchers arms.

    How many live former pitchers are saying, "If that coach didn't ask me to pitch when my arm was hurting or throwing 150 pitches every game when I was young, could I have had a long major league career..............."

    Don't rush Wallner back. Give him time to be ready. A couple of players seemed to have rushed back, like Austin Martin who got reinjured in his first game back.

    I was just looking at the OPS for our minor league hitters the past 15 days (top and bottom players - 20 AB minimum): Saints - McCusker 1.213, Gasper 1.114, Winkel .524, Miranda .510 Wind Surge - Ortega .987, Cossetti .940, Ross .639, Rucker .610 Kernels - Ferrer 1.205, Gonzalez 1.114, Salas 1.042, De Andrade .587, Maitan .357 Mussels - Thomason .976, Mercedes .487 Cossetti surprised me. He's doing better lately.

    Didn't think about the business side of things. Thanks for the info. If you think SWR, Festa and Matthews are all very closely rated (which I think the Twins do), I can certainly see using all 3 at times during the year. The real bonus is they can go to AAA and work on things they aren't so good at. Tough to do that in games in MLB. Plus, the Twins spread out their starts or skip a start at AAA, giving these young guys less innings for the year and a better chance to pitch well in September and October.

    I think the Twins don't view much gap between SWR, Festa and Matthews as there current 5th through 7th starters. The Twins also like to give these young guys a break or skip a start to keep the total annual innings pitched down and sending SWR can allow for this. Festa just skipped a start (read it was due to arm fatigue) but he is scheduled to pitch in AAA on Friday. Finally, many teams like give these projected future starters several chances to come up and then work on things in AAA. I'm thinking that (and the Twins think they are very close to each other in talent) is the reason it's Matthews over Festa.

    That is too bad. Camargo can be replaced BUT we don't have anyone to replace him. Gasper with average defense would look good there. Gasper's defense everywhere in the field gets him less chances at AB's in the majors, resulting in less chances to show what he can do with the bat, and gets him sent to the minors.

    I played SS and any collision was always the outfielders fault with no noise. But that was in high school and the radio announcers said there was a pretty good crowd making noise at the park today. I don't know how more of these don't happen in MLB. I will say, if I had the chance at SS, I would have immediately dove to the ground and let the outfielder go over the top of me once I heard the OF (as Correa did right at the end), I just don't think Correa had time to do that.

    Fitzgerald would make sense to call up and then DFA in a week or two (he is playing great at AAA but I don't know much about his D). At his age, he probably passes through back to AAA. If the Twins call up him and McCusker, how do you make room on the 40 man roster (Tonkin and Gasper - may be a decision between calling up Gasper or DFA'ing him?) I also assume McCusker wouldn't be DFA'd.

    At a minimum, most will have to admit that this is the Paddack that the Twins found reason to keep. Even if he regresses, I'm not calling the front office bad for this decision and seeing what he has this year. Wow Paddack, keep this up!

    My biggest concern is that he has played 1 game at SS this year. With his batting history, he would have to be a gold glove SS to make it the majors. If he's not even playing there, he will never see the majors as his bat isn't going to lead the way.

    Anyone know why Emma Rodriguez is batting 7th for the Saints? I've seen a healthy top prospect bat lower than 4th in a lineup, no matter how their season is going.

    Michael Helman DFA'd by the Cardinals and claimed by the Pirates. And Eddie Rosario signs a minor league deal with the Brewers.

    Listened on the radio today and it just feels like the Twins are going to find a way to win lately. I'm thinking the Twins send down SWR and bring up a reliever as an extra warm body for tomorrow (tonkin?). Then, he gets sent down to bring up Matthews for Sunday.

    The timing sure points to a Zebby Matthews start on Sunday for the Twins. Interesting 26 man roster move though.

    "Matt Wallner will be back before too long, and it’s probably fair to assume he will pick up where he left off: mashing baseballs." Not so sure about that. It may be like spring training again for him. And most years in the upper minors or with the Twins, those first 50 or so plate appearances he's searching for the right swing. Hope I'm wrong.

    Love your enthusiasm and positivity. I agree with you on Jenkins and Rodriguez. We already have Lee and Keaschall. I love to see how McCusker is hitting but I don't bring him up to give him a try. I only bring him up if we think he can be a good player. Holland - I totally disagree. When he was healthy, he spent numerous games on the bench and batted near the bottom of the lineup last year (while batting Helman near the top of the order and then trading him). Those are two telling signs of what the Twins think of him as those players usually don't get a chance in the majors. Pitching prospects are great. Position players we are good other than these weaknesses - 1B, catcher and SS. I used to get excited about guys like Noah Miller but now wait until they show something at AA. Therefore, I'm not counting on Culpepper or Debarge just yet, and Amick (the no homers is a bad sign even though he has a great batting average).

    There is clearly a current top 5 in the bullpen for us right now. Stewart and Topa are next. Alcala is mop up or emergency only as we can't send him down with risking losing him.

    Great start. SSS. But this is his 4th year at high A ball and he is already Rule 5 eligible.

    Any word on the DeBarge injury? He got hit by a pitch this week and hasn't played since. Too bad because he was playing well.
