    That may be possible, they could end up asking Larnach to try to play some first base, who knows? The thought of Miranda on this roster and in the lineup when I go to the game in Kansas City Saturday after seeing Royce hit that grand slam in person last Friday at Target Field makes me wanna vomit. ?

    Last year they played guys in completely different positions due to necessity, they had pretty run out of outfielders so that's why guys like Refsnyder and Gordon who were infielders received a lot of time in the Outfield. That isn't how you want players to learn, but in a lost season where they were out of it by June 1, they didn't have anytime to lose.

    Again, their issue, as Dick and LaTroy mentioned on the broadcast today, is they don't want Royce to learn a new position at the Major League level.

    With the way the Twins have been hammered with injuries, he may be back by next week so it's not an "nonspecific fact that ignores all context". He got his first opportunity due to injury so it isn't unfathomable that will be the reason for the next. Their issue, as they mentioned on the broadcast today, is they don't want Royce to learn a new position at the Major League level. So if they gave him a week or two playing 3rd (or somewhere else) he will have a little more experience for the next call up.

    Sometimes players coming off the IL are as impactful as a trade. Let's hope that's the case with some of these guys coming back in the next week or so.

    With the way the team has been fighting injuries, I will guess someone else will go down before the end of the month and he will be back. Although I think Miranda should have been sent down instead of Lewis.

    First base is kind of the hole right now, Sano isn't a great long term option, Kirilloff has his struggles, Miranda is still learning and has his own struggles and should be sent down to St. Paul. If I am the Twins I get Royce some action at 3rd and consider playing Urshela at 1st (which is painful to say because his defense has been so good at 3rd so far this year.)

    Royce will be back sooner rather than later.

    They could throw in another top 15 prospect as well, Miranda was #3 and Sands #14 going into the season.

    I want to point out their issue hasn't been starting pitching this season, their rotation has been among the best in MLB in ERA.

    Miranda and Sands would be a deal I would support.

    Arraez is one of the best contact hitters and one of the better utility players in baseball, Winder has only played a handful of games and Miranda is still growing. That is an awful lot to give up for control for another year for a 29 year old pitcher who's been all over the place with consistency in his career. The Twins could get the 2021 version which was good winning 13 games or the 2020 version with a 5.60 ERA. At this point they'd be foolish to blow up the roster.

    I'm okay with them being cautious with him. It's a long season, and if him missing a game a week keeps him from missing 2 months that is a long term win.

    That would be a horrible trade.

    Miranda should be sent down for sure, he is hitting a Sano-like .096 right now. Watching him struggle right now is painful. If Urshela wasn't playing such superb defense at 3rd I would guess he would be an option for 1st and Lewis plays 3rd.

    Plenty of winnable games on the schedule for sure and winning each series will keep their momentum going.

    I specifically remember 1 & 2, and how annoying both of those were at the moment when they were clear missed calls.

    There were times when Ryan was visibly flustered by not getting a call, the difference in one pitch called differently, like in the first inning for example, could be the difference in a pitcher throwing 12 pitchers or 20+. But the Twins swinging so early in counts didn't help either, they need to learn to be more patient and work the count. But it's behind us and hopefully they'll get back on track tonight with a W.

    And you are absolutely correct. Arraez ability to make contact when the Twins need it could come up big down the stretch. I'm not sure why someone would trade one of the hardest guys in baseball to strike out in a day where strike outs are the norm.

    The home plate ump was so inconsistent, calls that were balls for Joe Ryan were strikes for Verlander. I will be so happy when they start using a digital strike zone.

    Anytime you're in the same company with Arraez in the plate discipline category you're doing pretty good.

    Sometimes a player just needs a different environment, and with LaMonte I think that was the case.

    Depending on how well Lewis plays and how soon Correa comes back, Gordon may end up being the odd man out....

    The thought of Sano being the best option is a horrifying thought. ?
