  1. It's exactly what I expected, but it's still a huge disappointment. If you think that things are going to improve the rest of the season, with what we've got...your rose colored glasses need an update.
  2. None of those deals moves the needle very much, and I'd actually be surprised if this FO does ANYTHING today. If they do, it won't be anything too spectacular.
  3. Deals are getting done...and so far, we don't seem to be pulling the trigger on anything. Sewald is gone. Canha is gone. Candelario is gone. Only 24 hours left to plug some holes.
  4. Saw that the Mets and Padres are supposedly interested in Larnach. I'd have no interest in Pham. Maybe Raley, but it depends on the deal. I have no idea what the Pads might be offering.
  5. Some of both would be fine, if they're the right moves. Not crazy about Keuchel going into the rota, if Gray or Maeda are moved. No doubt we need a righty bat and maybe another BP arm. Would love to see them somehow get Hader here, but that's probably not gonna happen. I hope that Kirilloff going on the IL doesn't make the FO keep Gallo around to play 1b...he needs to go. Like NOW! Only a couple days left to see what they're going to do. I still believe they won't do much of anything.
  6. There need to be some changes made, but I don't think much is going to happen by Tues afternoon at 5pm. I think we'll pretty much stand pat. I think Gallo is still here, I doubt we'll add a righty bat, and we'll probably add a middling RP from somewhere. I just can't see this FO making many moves, even though they've done that in the past. I think this year is different. I sure hope I'm wrong.
  7. I'm not even going to pretend that I understand all the defensive metrics/analytics...and for that matter, the offensive ones either. I'm way too old to figure that stuff out. Old dog, new tricks etc. Gallo certainly isn't a Gold Glover in the OF any longer. I can't believe he ever was. First base would be his best position. There's a fine line between playing a guy that hits, but doesn't have a good glove...and Gallo doesn't fit the profile. The reality is...he shouldn't be playing period! If you want a guy who maybe hits 25-30 HR's and drives in 50-60 runs...while hitting a robust .180, then you must be crazy. I don't want him in the lineup at all. If he's still on this roster on Tues night, then the FO should be taken out behind the wood shed. Since Buxton can't/won't play CF, then MAT has to...weak bat and all. He's GG caliber. Castro can do it, but he's risky out there at best. The FO has to clean up this roster. Fix the glut of outfielders, and PLEASE DFA Gallo!
  8. It would be nice to get him, but we need a lot more than Hader.
  9. Yep, the NY Post is reporting that they're waiting for Mad Max to waive his no-trade. No mention of what the Mets are getting back for him, if the deal goes thru.
  10. Depends on if he's really available, and what we'd have to give up for him.
  11. Duran definitely wasn't sharp last night, but that was a helluva pitch that Witt hit for the homer. Tough way to lose though.
  12. Saw something this morning about the Marlins interested in trading for Tim Anderson.
  13. Hader is still pretty filthy, and I sure wouldn't mind him here...but not for Raya in the deal.
  14. I know what you're saying, Brock...and you're right. They've made a lot of moves the last few years, and at times it seems like they're making moves just to make moves. I'm probably wrong and they'll make a bunch of them by next week at the last minute. For some reason, I don't see it happening. I think this year might be different.
  15. I'd honestly be surprised if they do much of anything. I think the FO is going to pretty much stand pat and ride out this season. As much as some of us would like him gone, I can see them keeping Gallo, not trading Kepler, Larnach, or Wallner...and maybe only adding another middling arm to the pen. If they add a righty bat, I have no idea who they'd be interested in, or go after. It just looks like nothing is going to happen. We'll know in a few days.
  16. I'm not opposed to Larnach being traded, but I'd much rather dump Gallo and trade Kepler. Everyone knows Larnach struggles with off speed stuff, but there aren't many young(er) players that don't. He's been up and down many times, and I don't think he's really had enough time up here to develop. Maybe he never gets it...maybe he does. I'd take him over Gallo in a heartbeat. I'd give Larnach and Wallner shots at the two corners and move on from Kepler.
  17. Easy guys...this is our 5 tool superstar! He's got a hammer, screwdriver, pliers, wrench, and a hacksaw. All in a nice little plastic toolbox!
  18. I just read that Bob Nightengale from USA Today is saying that the Pads will trade Snell and Hader. Who knows what's going to happen? Anything is possible in the next 4-5 days.
  19. Spot on. They're not going to do much of anything. Certainly nothing significant. Maybe a couple minor deals.
  20. No idea what to make of this trade yet, but I wish Lopez the best. I hope he and his family are ok.
  21. Kind of a nothing-burger deal. They must have really wanted to get rid of Lopez. I hope that the FO has better trades on the burner than this one.
  22. Probably some posturing going on by Preller, but it's possible he's going to keep them. He'll likely get some real good offers for both of them. I'd love to see Snell or Hader here, but that's a pipe dream.
