  1. Who is his competition? Is Moreland playing well again this year?
  2. I feel like the Twins swung at at least four ball fours.
  3. No matter which way you look at it, the relief pitching was a Bummer.
  4. Ah, too bad they couldn't win that one. Berrios going today, get the series win. If the Twins can win 60% of their games down the stretch (winning 3 of 5 from the White Sox on the road, for example), they will finish at 86 or 87 wins, which should be enough or close to enough for to nab the wild card.
  5. 8Ks by Gibson. Wriggles out of a big jam and then mows them down. Could have pitched the 8th inning. Nice work!
  6. Angels down 5-1 to Texas after a Beltre Earl Weaver 3-run homer.
  7. Buxton had a little bit of a Chase Utley chop swing with a charge of power on that homer. He's en fuego.
  8. Mauer over the last 9 games: 8 starts (sat vs Boyd), 18-36 (and 2 walks) with 7 multi-hit games. I've also see him swing at the first pitch at least twice. Raised his average from 277 to 290. It's unlikely, but it sure would be nice to see him get up to 300 by the end of the season.
  9. Two weeks later, let' check in: Buxton: 240, two triples (and an inside the park home run), check. Mauer: 290 - check. Mejia and Gibson - not check. Hopefully Gibson pitches well on Tuesday. A lot of people calling for his head. I'm not ready to yet. Hopefully Mejia still gets back and makes a few more starts down the stretch. I think that Mejia has had nearly as much trouble with pitch counts and putting hitters away as Gibson has. Few Colón starts - not check. But that's ok, because he's pitched pretty well. He's now locked into the rotation, so let's hope he keeps doing at least pretty well. Would certainly love to see him win five more games down the stretch to get his all time country win total. Bullpen tryouts: check. Hildenberger, Busenitz, and Gee have all been quite good. Belisle also looking decent as a closer option. Hopefully we will see Curtiss. Wins - check. 10-4 in this stretch so far, picking up 3.5 games in the WC race to pull into a tie for #2 (while only picking up a game on Cleveland and NY). And now Garver is up. Still hoping to see a Gosalves start or two this season. Two weeks in, they've knocked off almost all of my wish list in fine fashion. Thanks, boys. Here's to them keeping rolling!
  10. Works out to just over 21mph. For reference, with no comment, Usain Bolt maxed out at 27mph.
  11. Since the All-Star Game, Buxton's slash line is .351/.406/.596/1.003.
  12. I predict Gibson-Gonsalves for the DH on Monday, and Slegers on Tuesday on regular rest. Hoping to see Garver get a start behind the plate, maybe even today for Berrios?
  13. The best part about this is when Mr. Rogers pauses..."and then there is THIS one."
  14. I've been waiting for the triples to come, but I'll take an inside the parker too. Fastest inside the park homerun in the statcast era, and Buxton's fastest triple ever. Over 21mph. I was wondering if there had ever been a cycle with an inside the park homerun...and the broadcasters said it happened 8 times.
  15. There are 8 teams currently within 3 games of the second wild card spot.
  16. It's official...this year better than last year.
  17. Could use one of those 8th inning 3-run homers here.
  18. I just watched the 8-4-2 putout single with men on first and second two times. I can't for the life of me figure out how that happened.
  19. So far the Twins have tried three different varieties... Bases loaded no one out First and second no one out Third base no one out Result: zero runs
  20. I'm not sure why he didn't come out for the 6th, but it didn't really help...
  21. First and second, none out, the minimum they had to do was get enough pitches to make Carrasco not come out for the 6th. That's what really hurt about then Polanco pick off.
