  1. If this is him not looking good, I'd hate to see him when he is on. Buxton pulls ahead of Mauer in the home run chase. Can Mauer answer?
  2. 10Ks vs Salazar on Tuesday, now 6 vs Carrasco through 3 today. Plus 0 for 3 with the bases loaded. Only bright side is Carrasco is at 69 pitches through 3. Keep working the count and he will be out of there by the sixth (along with Gibson).
  3. Thank you for the clarification and the prognostication.
  4. The worst part is, it isn't even a five-run lead anymore. What's a team to do?
  5. This games wasn't alls well or Enns well.
  6. Boshers has now given up 5 homers to right handers in the equivalent of 17.2 innings this year. Of course, the 15 foot hit by Santana didn't help. What are the chances of Santana beating out an infield single anyway?
  7. This could be the first game for the Twins that this guy Enns.
  8. That was definitely a home run that he robbed there. Way to find the wall first and time his leap. Especially nice because Encarnacion stood admiring if for about 3 seconds before leaving the batters box.
  9. On the strikeout pitch to Mauer, the catcher set up inside, and then moved outside at the last minute. Wonder if Kepler was signaling for the inside pitch from second when he saw the set up,
  10. If Busenitz gets through this inning, I think the team can inch back into this in the bottom of 6.
  11. That was a helluva game. Would have been a great win, wound up being a tough loss. I'm not criticizing Sano, who got two hits on the night, nor the offense....which got 11 runs and came storming back from a 5-0 deficit. Just one game, folks. Another game tomorrow, plus 45 more. That wasn't "the season" or anything like it. Twins are 6-1 in their last seven, can win a series in Detroit with the #1 pitcher going, and then get to host the division leaders starting Tuesday. Keep the bats rolling tomorrow, and look for Ervin to step up.
  12. On I95 heading towards Cape Cod, listening to the Yankees broadcast of the Yankees-Red Sox game. The Yankees announcers are really bad. And everything in the game is a plug for a sponsor; the national anthem, the lineups, the battery, the first pitch, the first visit to the mound. I was waiting to hear "and there is the first cup adjustment, brought to you by Under Armour. Now, let's go Twins, make it 7 in a row. I think Sano gets his homer swing back tonight.
  13. Well, if we took every reliever and threw out their worst four outings, it would be interesting to compare. I think Belisle would come out looking pretty good. Another way to do it: throw out the best and worst four outings. That would get us closer to his median, expected outing, I suppose. You could do that with all relievers and then compare them, and you might get something worth looking at. I'm not going to do it, though.
  14. Welcome aboard the Verlander train! There's plenty of room, as it's not really rolling yet, and let's be honest, will likely never leave the station. But maybe, just maybe, the Twins will leave Detroit on Sunday with 2 or 3 wins AND Verlander in tow, who will be lined up to pitch for the Twins against Cleveland in the series opener on Tuesday night?
  15. It would burn an option year and start his clock. I don't think they'd add anyone to the 40 or bring anyone like Romero or Gonsalves up before September for that reason. (Garver might fit this description as well.)
  16. I think Brusdar Graterol is such an awesome name he doesn't need a nickname. Um...Tim "Herman" Melville? Clark "Kent" "Muppets" Beeker?
  17. There is a good pun in there somewhere, but I can't seem to put my finger on it.
  18. If the Twins win all of them, they could even be in first place.
  19. Nice report. Great AAA start for Gonsalves. Three notes: -Video footage of Lewis stealing home? -Given your track record, we may need to ban you from doing minor league reports, Seth -The "Red Wings Report" needs to be the "Plates Dish" on Thursday's, obviously
  20. The correct call last night was "A smash to Sano....steps on third....fires across...that Enns the threat!"
  21. Well, let's see, six games into these last 55...Buxton hitting 333 over that stretch, Dozier has hit 3 home runs, Hildenberger, Gee and Busenitz have all done great, and they've won 5 of 6 (with comebacks from down 5, 4, and 3 runs) to knock 3.5 games off the division lead, and 3 games off of the wild card lead. Oh, and we are definitely seeing a lot more of Colón. That includes a game in which we had Adrianza at first and Escobar/Gimenez in the 3-4 spots vs Cole Hamels. Pretty good attempt to knock out the whole damn punch list in quick order. Now we need Mauer to continue to have his line drives start to fall in, and Gibson to put up a good start tonight in Detroit to build on his little mini-streak he has going. Remember that if that homer he gave up to Mazara last Saturday (on a pretty decent pitch) is a few feet shorter, his outing looks a helluva lot better. I also see a lot of laughter in the dugout...at Colón's at bats, at Enns' hit, pranking the coaches. This team is coming together.
  22. And you forgot the most important part...the team (including the bullpen) got a chip on their shoulder after the management "sold."
