  1. He stole a base??? 3-tool Sano gonna wreck the league
  2. Can't wait to see some highlights of him launching bombs into the stratosphere
  3. Offense has looked solid which is a silver lining but the starters performance as well as bullpen injuries paint a bleak picture for our pitching. Injuries happen but the unfulfilled need for a proven #2/playoff starter to replace Gray becomes more apparent everyday. That was something everyone knew was a hole day 1 of the offseason and nothing was done to address it.
  4. I know spring training results don't mean much but man I can't help but feel anxious about our starting pitching. The FO has bet heavily on Ryan and Ober being good to great. If they both remain as back half starters we are in deep trouble
  5. Similar to just about everybody I wanted Varland making Disco's starts as well. The depth for rotation arms being thinned already though is not good. Maybe Snell or Montgomery will wait themselves into the Twins price range?? (Im dreaming)
  6. This is quite the winding scenario you've concocted, i'll try to give my 2 cents. There is no option between the 10 and 60 day list for pitchers, if he is placed on the 60 he cannot be put back on the 26 man roster until that time has elapsed. I am pretty sure he can still pitch in the minors before then though. That being said, they will not place him on the 60 day unless he actually has an injury that requires it. To do that in order to try and finesse more starts for Varland would piss Desclafani off and the organization could get in trouble with the league. Bottom line is that Disco will get every opportunity to start at the expense of Varland unless there are injuries or he sucks bad enough for long enough, which will certainly be longer than we would like.
  7. Can Royce just be the designated bases loaded hitter? Who says no
  8. Exactly, Disco was slotted into our rotation. There was no way Varland or SWR were breaking camp over him. if we are giving that to a "throw-in" then that looks really bad on the front office.
  9. Just wish the risky starter they traded for had a little higher of ceiling than Disco. Braves are only paying 10.5M of Sales salary and he's looking great so far. Sale did have to waive his no trade but he might have for us too, not like we aren't contenders with a clear path for him to start full time
  10. That feels like they must have known he had elbow soreness when they completed the trade then. Hard to believe he gained it and lost it in the 2 weeks since pitchers reported
  11. Yes I agree, hopefully the ramp makes it all the way to the top
  12. Desclafani's spring training ramp up has been delayed, seems like this almost always ends up getting worse or leading to TJ. https://www.threads.net/@strib_bobby/post/C3-b_koL0lT/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D
  13. Correa has too good of a track record for last year to be the new normal, his post-tear playoff performance also showed a lot of the improvement we were hoping for. Of all the players who need to have bounce back years, I am most confident in him.
  14. Really hoping he can regain his form. My main qualm with these bottom of the barrel acquisitions is we always give them far too much rope if they aren't performing. If SWR or Varland are doing well in AAA and we end up getting the 2023 Desclafani, they better not hesitate.
  15. And I am trying to parse the context, this $11M is also a number you are just "throwing around" to fit your narrative. They could use 200 players but for every one they are putting on the roster they are also taking one off. They are only paying both the salaries in the case where one of the players is injured. The people covering those holes are usually making minimum and swapping players with options is a negligible effect. I would argue that $11M is significantly lower
  16. I honestly would like to understand that $11M more since it makes up the difference between us, is it the replacements they add to the 26 man for injured players during the season? The people filling those roles are typically close to the minimum so would be hard to see that equaling $11M, although I'm sure it would be a few million
  17. Ah okay so with the projected pre arb numbers we are at... $117M. That makes the cut 26.42% still closer to 30 than the 20 you stated. Of course we can't add in future numbers we don't know about yet, they also might even offload players if we aren't competitive.
  18. Current payroll is down from $159M to $112M, attached source is Spotrac. This represents a 29.56% cut
  19. I don't think their revenues are very uncertain at all actually. They will be getting a VERY large sum of money for broadcast rights next year. We literally just went through their spin on this over the past 3 months and you're still giving them that talking point? We are in agreement on the twins being cheap, I'm just going to argue against it instead of defend it. Until they open their books (never, because then we'd all know the ride they are taking us on) they should not get an ounce of defense in spending money.
  20. Not sure where your numbers are coming from but here are the Spotrac ones. We are currently at $112M this year and were at $159M last year. We are currently at 19th in the MLB
  21. So doing the math, there is a net increase on the books of $22M next year. That would still put us over $20M under LAST years salary. What is the purpose of this article?
  22. I think the depth we have is solid but I am very worried about the top end. We are seriously banking on Ober and Ryan being able to take a step forward. If they don't or even god forbid regress, which is well within the realm of possibility, we will be in a very bad spot. This is a gamble the FO seems to be fine taking and they should be judged accordingly based on the result
  23. Hopefully they don't force you to buy the special package to bring your dog, would like to use my Twinsfest voucher for that game
  24. A lot of people (even myself for a little bit) gave the team every benefit of the doubt when it came to the TV contract/payroll slash excuse. If payroll still ends up with an almost $40M cut by opening day despite the new contract (which seems like a $10M cut at most??) we should all be rightfully angry. Our competitive window is now, there are no more excuses
  25. We could sign Montgomery and still be $15M under last years budget, the fact he is rarely discussed as an option on this site is wild. Are we all really that resigned to our ownership being cheap asses? I don't want to part with ANY of our young guys when the only reason we would need to is because of ownership's greed
