  1. Yeah, those are the three I thought of too. I hope we can get these kids back in baseball in 2021 and get things back to normal.
  2. Just read this on MLB.com: Minor league prospects who are not on the 60 man roster cannot be traded, and that on top of the other reasons is likely why few if any trades happen this year.
  3. Balazovic being off the roster is the only head scratcher for me. Jake Reed was bad last year and the FO has never seemed to think of him as more than just a guy. The rest of the younger players are likely too far off in case they are needed to play.
  4. I'm not sure if it's going to be worth trading for anyone this year. Many prospects won't be playing, the playoff run will be short, and I just don't know if it will be worth it. I expect few trades to happen.
  5. It's gonna be weird not having any games against the AL East or West... but hey, the schedule really couldn't be any easier! We will only play one division winner and only 2 90+ win teams. No Yankees or Astros!
  6. You can see my list here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/37846-who-will-be-on-the-20-man-taxi-squad/?do=findComment&comment=969643 After looking through these, I would subtract a couple pitchers and add Tovar as another SS and a veteran catcher (either Telis or Graterol).
  7. The Rich Hill signing is looking very smart with all this happening... Berrios-Odo-Hill-Maeda is a pretty strong rotation, and no longer will we have to worry about Homer Bailey being our #3 starter. I don't forsee many or any trades happening midseason this year, so this rotation will have to do. Who knows if Odorizzi will make much when he hits FA in 2021 with so many question marks around MLB right now, so he probably should have declined the qualifying offer... but there was no way to anticipate all this (better FA market, COVID, and impending lockout).
  8. If only this could have happened during 2012 or 2013, a season where we didn't have a chance...
  9. Nice list! Sabato and Rooker look like near identical prospects to me... I'd put Jeffers at #6 over Enlow and Thorpe. I think Jeffers is a stud, and Enlow's upside isn't amazing and Thorpe might end up as a decent reliever. Just wondering aloud, where would Jaylin Davis and Lewin Diaz rank if they weren't traded? I know they'd likely be outside of the top 10. Though with the way Falvine is drafting hitters so frequently, it's easy to forget they aren't in the system any longer.
  10. I dunno, he hasn't even played enough baseball in the minors to likely get any attention in the Rule 5 draft. He's got a long way to go and as you said, he's likely not one of this team's top 20 prospects.
  11. How long has Thorpe been showing up on these prospect lists, 7 years now? I hope he can finally graduate and stay as a big leaguer. Jeffers at #6 just feels right. I thought he should have been higher on these lists last season.
  12. Looks like this was a quality value pick, for whatever that's worth at this point in the draft. I will be interested to see where Sabato & the others land in the Twins top prospects lists.
  13. I agree with the "you don't draft for current needs" argument, but my concerns are twofold: 1) 1B/DH only players are not very valuable compared to basically ever other position in baseball and 2) the pipeline for 1B/DH prospects is already filled up quite well, with Rooker, Kiriloff, and Wallner all potentially filling the same role. It feels like we drafted the exact same guy 3 years ago in Rooker, and he hasn't gotten a cup of coffee yet... I'd rather take the risky route and draft the top-end pitchers. Yes, I know the bust rate is very high, but we all know the Twins aren't going to find an ace in free agency and likely not through a rate... heck, our current ace was a 1st round pick. Hopefully they will target pitchers in rounds 2-5 and into undrafted FA - the more, the merrier.
  14. So another college hitter, this time in the vein of Brent Rooker... eh. The Falvine regime sure loves their strong hitters, especially when measuring exit velocity.
  15. According to MLB.com, the Red Sox just took their 139th ranked prospect at #17, Nick Yorke.
  16. Whew... I forgot the draft was today. I better read up on some prospects, so I can pretend to be upset when they take a guy I've never heard of. On a more serious note, I am hoping they go BPA - Best Pitcher Available. The farm is well-stocked for most positions around the diamond, so let's try and get an ace. I'd prefer a college arm since the wait will be shorter, of course, but any pitcher will do.
  17. How would that work? I don't have the digital version, and I only use my own homemade solutions, so I'm unsure if I would be able to help you there.
  18. We’ve assumed Romero was given a 4th option, but I don’t know if it was ever confirmed. Nobody should be giving up on Duran as a starter yet...
  19. Too early to kick Hill out of the rotation, gotta give him some more starts. How often do injuries happen here? Is there an injury slider? I wonder if pitchers are going to be more durable in this simulation (and you probably can't send guys to the DL for very minor reasons!).
  20. If he's going to be on the team, he should be getting everyday ABs... but I suppose you're not expecting Buxton to start the year on the DL?
  21. Maeda looked great today. I think he's going to do a great job being a #3 starter this season.
  22. You can get away with a light hitting player like Revere or Arraez when you have a lineup that legitimately just set the new record for HRs and they added another 30+ HR guy. I have no problem if Arraez collects singles and walks if the others will be busy hitting him in. And, as the article mentioned, Revere hit a lot of groundballs, and Arraez hit more line drives, so I think Arraez's performance can be more sustainable if that keeps up.
  23. It’s more about the concept of replacement level - Jeffers is more valuable because of the scarcity of competent hitting catchers. But it’s not the best way to compare two guys offensively who play different positions,
  24. Don't see any reason not to give the job to Dobnak at this point. I wonder if we may see Colina in the bullpen later in the season...
  25. Celestino struggled at Cedar Rapids most of the year... so to expect him to contribute in the big leagues anytime soon would be rather foolish, at least if you're expecting him to do anything at the plate. He'd be fine as a defensive replacement, but nothing else. I'd be fine calling him up for a cup of coffee since we'll be using an option year on him no matter what, but he's not going to be a substitute for a reserve outfielder this season.
