  1. I can see and click on the View Full Article button, but then it just leads to the same incomplete article minus the View Full Article button. If this is a membership situation, methinks there should be a notice about that being needed to read the rest of the article rather than having it abruptly end... they had this working in previous years.
  2. If Lopez/Ryan aren't traded after signing a veteran starter, what's the point of trading for Bradley and Abel just to continue to not let them start games in the majors? I get that rotation depth is important, but did we really trade away Duran and Jax for depth instead of MLB-caliber players who can contribute to the team?
  3. I don't think it is average, I'm not sure we have a single high leverage arm in the pen. Looking through our options, last year the only arm pitching in games with leads in the 7th inning and on was Rogers being a primarily 7th/8th inning reliever pitching about 50-50 the team winning or losing. Topa only started pitching in high leverage situations once the trades were made and Sands wasn't particularly good last year. It's a pen made up of a bunch of middle relievers, I don't know how that is better than 14-15 other teams'. They have the potential to reach average if some starting pitching prospects transition to the pen successfully but we can't factor that in. Average would be a windfall for this offense.
  4. I didn't think we'd see another lefty with a real chance of making the team get added. Walks are the main concern, but unlike other relievers we have that's about it, he's still good at getting swings and misses. I like his odds of making the pen, and there's a decent chance he's closer. I trust him more than Banda.
  5. 100% agreed, that's what I said at the time of the trade. Stewart's value was low, but they should have been able to get a lottery ticket like they did for Paddack / Coloumbe.
  6. He's been a manager for 5+ years and 750 games, feels odd to be saying that it's "too early" when he has an extensive track record.
  7. IIRC I don't believe most sources have Abel as a top 100 prospect.
  8. This depth chart doesn't mean anything, Larnach is listed as 4th in line to play LF behind Martin, Roden, and Outman and we know that's not happening.
  9. Not a surprising move, that's probably it for the bullpen additions. Also not exciting, given he was primed for regression with his high walk rate and his FIP implied his defense was saving him runs. Looks like during the playoff run he was pitching in low leverage, and was downright terrible in the World Series. Small sample size of course, but I can see why the Dodgers are moving on from him. One thing I will note is that I appreciate that there are actually multiple rosterable left-handed relievers in the bullpen this year. But still, long term I wouldn't be shocked if Sands is the only reliever in the 2027 pen that is currently slated to make the 2026 roster.
  10. Hard to say it's a bad trade for them if Jax still has value that will be worth trading for. Maybe not ideal for a team that isn't ready to do anything in the playoffs, but if they were ready to throw in the towel on Bradley as a starter, then may as well get two years of one of the better relievers in the game for him. While true, Falvey just left and they likely had Bradley continue prepping to start. That may change down the road, but I doubt they're going to move him to the pen right away now that Falvey is gone.
  11. Best case scenario, a few starter prospects successfully transition to the pen so the 2027 bullpen has a chance to build around something. I don't really care about what the likes of Rogers and Topa do, they aren't long-term pieces and probably won't be back next year.
  12. Great, now the AAA infield is ready to go... just need to fill out the MLB infield next!
  13. He's got nothing to prove at AAA, play him over Outman and see if he can figure out MLB pitching. I get that he wasn't the headliner prospect of the Varland trade, but they need to extract some value out of him. He's another reason why Larnach is superfluous, why trade for Roden if they're not going to play him and soon the top tier OF prospects will come up and make up spots? I would be very happy if he could do in that a 300 PA sample size.
  14. It seemed like several years ago (might be 10+ years?) there were far more funny ads, but now they're either safe / saccharine, pushing gambling and AI, or advertising for a movie and not even showing clips of said movie.
  15. I'd still take the Seahawks, but I think it'd be a close game.
  16. I never liked that pick, Campbell wasn't that good of a tackle at LSU. Their 3rd round rookie LG Wilson is also getting bulldozed. Seattle's front seven is really, really good. Other than that, the difference in this game is Kenneth Walker. Don't know why the Patriots keep on pounding Stevenson when TreVeyeon Henderson had a pretty good year for them, but they stopped using him in the playoffs.
  17. He would still be the GM / would have taken a better GM job elsewhere if this era had been a success. Even the most generous critique of him should top out at "mixed", but Falvey promised "sustained competitiveness" and missing the playoffs 4 of the last 5 years in a mediocre division is not that. He clears the lowest of bars, but why not have high expectations? I want to see this organization operate like the Brewers and Guardians, and instead we are nowhere close to that.
  18. The only way I see this being possible is if they were planning to trade Lopez... otherwise how did they make a realistic bid on him?
  19. Zebby has had an easier time going later into starts than Festa and SWR so I assumed that meant he might be closer to a breakthrough, but after seeing the data that may be a faulty premise. I wouldn't move him to the pen yet, but it should be under consideration.
  20. I'm all for it, may as well try out some prospects at 1B so we might not need to keep signing FA 1Bs to one year deals every season.
  21. Did anyone seriously think the Twins were going to pony up 3/$115M for a position we have enough depth at?
  22. I'd rather not bother throwing DFA / AAAA relievers out there, but they're going to play some of those kinds over the likes of the three you mentioned. I wouldn't be shocked if Kowar and Altavilla are in the opening day bullpen, with maybe Festa as a longman and Adams/Klein get chances later on.
  23. Injuries aside, his major league numbers last year weren't terrible and are good enough to make our major league bullpen... it does look like he has a serious issue with walks, over 6 BB/9 in his last two years at AAA. Yikes.
  24. Except they moved him to the pen after he was at an ERA of 8.00+ and giving up more than 6 BB/9 and averaging 3 innings a starter. He is a long ways from being a possible major league starter, I think he provides more value long-term in the majors in the pen. Bottom line, I don't think they trade for Bradley and Abel if they really believed in the crop of starting pitchers that are nearing the cusp of the majors are going to stay in the rotation long-term. Some of them are going to transition to the bullpen and that's alright. You could have argued the same of Duran when they moved him to the pen after very little time starting at AAA - the theoretical upside of him as a starter was huge but that didn't stop them from putting him in the pen. It was very aggressive to have him pitch at AAA, I would plan on him pitching all of 2026 in AAA and keep him as a starter.
