  1. Sounds like he's going to be out for longer than a month in totality... bad break for him, but it didn't seem like the Twins were going to call him up anytime soon. Rodriguez remains at the top of the totem pole when it comes to most likely to get called up to play OF.
  2. Man, Raya is just not getting it done. And Klein has been rough too, I doubt he is going to be a MLB starter... so it might be time to move him to a relief role. I'd keep Zebby stretched out just because we need rotation depth. Morris is also likely a reliever, and we're at the point where the MLB pen is in dire enough shape that maybe he works into that. It would have been fun to see those Wind Surge and Kernels games!
  3. Well, I was right about the Vikings going DL over Thieneman, but I didn't think Banks was an option. The foot injuries are scary and very repeatable... at least he has very high upside, but that's a lot of risk. Not to mention he probably wasn't going Round 1 so why reach when they could trade down?
  4. For those interested, I'm doing live pick predictions as they happen here. You can see my draft board and my final mock draft is also there. Yeah... I might attend Day 3 of a draft if it visits Minneapolis, but no way am I standing in a crowd for 7 hours like that.
  5. Same thing with Buxton, he only has had 7 RBIs even with 5 HRs. They need to have Martin/Larnach/any other OBP options hit ahead of him just to have somebody on base for when his XBHs come.
  6. Rogers and Topa are very lucky the Mets only have a 1 run lead...
  7. Yup, I was about to make a "didn't you used to be Devin Williams?" joke.
  8. Dang, 3 perfect innings from the bullpen. Didn't expect that.
  9. According to Fangraphs, Royce Lewis has been activated in Abel's spot and Prielipp hasn't been officially moved onto the roster yet.
  10. They earned their way to the majors, why shouldn't the prospects in AAA be allowed to earn their way to the majors likewise? Destroying AAA pitching isn't an indicator of MLB success, but you'll never find out what you have in prospects if you never promote them and give them a chance at the next level. Outman has had more than enough chances and while I haven't given up on Wallner based on his track record, he is actively harming the team with his play so I get why others are calling for him to be demoted.
  11. Roden is now over 500 PAs in his AAA career and has hit .316 with a .924 OPS. I'm not sure what else he could do to earn a promotion, he's ready for another shot in the majors.
  12. They've had to get nearly all of their rotation talent from trades, it's been telling that they needed to acquire several starters at the deadline to fill out the rotation and depth this season... despite the idea that there was supposedly a pitching pipeline in place here. Raya has now had over 100 innings at AAA with an ERA over 6. I'm sure we'll continue to see the "he's young" excuse used, but at some point he's gotta throw strikes. They need someone to eat innings, plain and simple. I highly doubt Rojas is going to be in the major leagues for more than a week, he needs to continue developing in the minors.
  13. Tate is going top 10, and recently it sounds like Tyson is going to go above 18, the odds are he goes top 10 now. Yup... and iDL. And now the Vikings look poised to go RB and iDL this season after they should have last year.
  14. Brutal. Injuries happen to every team, but it stinks that the rotation has lost Lopez and now Abel. Gotta hope he can avoid the surgery and get back to try building off his last two dynamite starts.
  15. He has 1 option, but I wouldn't be shocked if he is IL'd and his rehab stint is his reset.
  16. The defense continues to be brutal, but I don't know what's to be done about it other than getting new players. The Falvine regime failed to draft and develop any hitters that can field and we are reaping the results. How did Lee pass the smell test at AAA with how little range he has? The bullpen is unviable with the pieces they have, expecting Morris and Acton to close out a close game is not fair to them. It's a shame given how good the starters have been. It's frustrating with how unexpectedly well some of these hitters have been. Martin has been awesome, Larnach has been an OBP machine despite being a part-time player, and Bell has been worth every penny of his contract and then some.
  17. Just saw the highlight of Lee trying to steal home... it's incredible how slow he is, especially for a guy who somehow hasn't gotten moved off shortstop yet.
  18. Just wanted to share some of my draft resources with you guys: * My draft board - every year I do live predictions as the picks come in for Round 1, join me on the Google sheets page on draft day. * My Draft Simulator - my very own draft simulator coded from scratch! * Underdog has a new website for creating mock drafts and draft boards that are really slick (and involves no gambling/contests). I recommend you check that out. * Pro Football Network has a special draft simulator that lets you do live drafts with other random people online. Try giving it a shot! And here's my latest mock draft:
  19. Luis Arraez was probably the best chance of beating the strikeout record - his lowest with us was 29, but his 2024 Padres sample size of 524 PAs had only 18 Ks.
  20. To be clear, I was a fan of selling off at the deadline, I just wasn't a fan of the return of the bigger moves. Getting quality talent under cheap team control is enough for me to call it a win, at least the Jax and Duran trades so far. The Varland trade looks like a mistake and I'd undo that trade in a heartbeat even though I like Rojas (and I don't see how they're going to extract value out of Roden outside of trading him). I'm not sure how much factoring in the front office's refusal to fix the bullpen after the trade deadline should be factored in, depends if you grade it in a vacuum or not. The reality is the majority of relievers in the pen right now are not going to be on the team / in the MLB bullpen next year. It's certainly easier [cheaper] to find relievers than starters, but they have to make an actual attempt to sign and develop some.
  21. Yeah, he just returned from an injury and last year he was aggressively promoted to AAA. If he's going to be a starter then I'd think he needs to spend most the season in the minors working on that. He could be an electric reliever if they opt to move him to the pen...
  22. So much for the "Abel can't figure out how to pitch at the MLB Level" narrative... turns out like most players he just needed more time to figure it out. This is why you give young players a chance after they've dominated AAA. Of course it's still early and Abel could regress, but he looks the part. The Duran and Jax trades are sure looking good now... somebody give Pete Maki a raise! And whomever is the hitting coach sure got them to turn around after a dismal start to the year, they're raking against really good pitching. Good stuff!
  23. You might want to update the name of this thread... though I'd love to be facing Scherzer again.
