    For me it had more to do with the lack of quality of backup catchers around the league rather than over-valuing Jackson because he's a Twin.

    Huh, strange move. You'd think Wallner would be the choice since they don't seem to want to call up ERod or Jenkins yet. I guess that implies Roden isn't hurt? If he is, feels like they need another OF.

    Not sure if trading 2 top 20 prospects and a few top 50 ones will come back to haunt us. And both of those top 20 prospects got traded for guys with another year of control, with the way Kremer is pitching then getting another year of him for something like $7M is a bargain, lockout pending of course. And this is coming from someone who wasn't pushing for this team to make trades for the reasons you have mentioned. These trades don't feel like they have the risk of the Jorge Lopez and Tyler Mahle trades of the past.

    That's shocking, given the number of marginal catchers getting traded at the deadline to be backups I figured he would get snapped up.

    That was an A+ AB from Culpepper... this is why you give your top prospects a shot. Never know what can happen!

    Kinda annoying how Shelton keeps his starters in so consistently more than Rocco did that it does backfire sometimes. The bullpen is good enough to salvage a game like this... just wish we could find a happy medium. Of course, it doesn't help when the hitters can't score any runs.

    He came out and didn't return with what was reported as a wrist injury, didn't see the play and hard to know the severity. If it's anything more than a 1/2 week injury, I wouldn't be shocked if they IR him and stash him there for the rest of the season, that happens with borderline guys like him.

    But his past two years in the majors has him at .255/.308 for a .754 OPS as a decent defensive catcher, methinks he would be an improvement on many backup catchers in the league.

    You know Rocco would have yanked him several hitters earlier (not that it would have changed much).

    They tested out ABS in the minor leagues for a couple seasons before implementing in the major leagues, makes sense to me over a rare special game.

    Nice to see all the top hitting prospects doing well in the span of a day! Yup, I think we see why the Tigers were willing to let Go go for basically nothing.

    Possible, but it was widely known that the Vikings really liked JJM - the betting odds were heavy on Vikings taking him, I checked in my 2024 mock draft documents and found that every single one of my favorite draftniks had us taking him, there is footage of Sean McVay on the phone with the Vikings talking about trading up on draft night and he refers to our pick as "Kevin's guy". They also traded 4th and 5th rounders away to move up one spot to get him just in case the Broncos were going to leap us. I could see them seeing Penix as the backup in case as they decided not to spend multiple 1sts to move up (which was heavily speculated, going up to 5 or 6), but all signs indicated JJM was the pick even if Penix was on the board. It's only in hindsight now that he's flaming out that we are questioning whether KOC really wanted him. In the scenario we take Maye, does anyone dare claim that KOC didn't want him and he was solely a KAM pick? There are people on other sites making that argument and it confounds me - KOC was driving the selection of the QB in 2024.

    Jenkins has a considerably better K% and BB% than Sabato, he's just not hitting for power quite yet. I don't think he's "demanding" a spot at this point, but I think he's getting close. With an almost 30% K rate... Right, that will decrease his trade value, but still, I think one of those teams would bite at the opportunity to buy low on a top 100 prospect. And he'd be part of a trade package.

    ERod is finally back at AAA after missing about 3 months, but even when the rust is knocked off, he was striking out at a 29.4% clip there. He's gonna look like Fedko if called up now. There's no chance of DFA'ing him and getting him back next year if they don't want him on the 26 man roster, so they will either have to start playing him in the majors or include him as part of a trade package in an offseason trade. Personally, I would move him while teams still consider him a top 100 prospect. There have been opportunities to call him up previously and get a look at him (they were burning an option year regardless) and the Twins passed... and in the midst of trying to tread water, I don't think they're going to give him a chance in the next few weeks. Maybe we see him cameo in September.

    Given he went 3 innings last time and 4 innings yesterday, seems like they are working on him as a starter. Just getting a bit late in the season to be ramping up...

    He's 32 now, was a 28 year old rookie for us. Didn't look very good in his first few outings, then got moved. Another lesson on being patient on young guys with plus stuff...
