  1. We may not have done much that inning, but Boyd threw 20 pitches to 4 batters. At that rate we won't get through the 5th inning.
  2. This got a chuckle out of me. On a more serious note, when are they going to create a real Robocop? Detroit could use one.
  3. Ooh, a Brian Dinkelman sighting!
  4. I expect to see this in a museum one day. It'll be the new "modern" art.
  5. Buxton's gotta be on pace to break the all-time diving catches record right now.
  6. Not a fan of these Ram commercials. Kinda makes my ears bleed.
  7. Our first non-divisional game isn't until April 24th... it would be nice to have a series with a non AL-Central team in the first three weeks.
  8. I haven't heard anything, but I'd have to assume he'll hit the 15 day DL with the way things are going. After he's healthy, that's when the Twins will decide to option him or not.
  9. Breslow was added to the 40 man roster and May was placed on the 60 day DL. With Gimenez joining the team, I'll assume that Perkins will also hit the 60 day DL to open a spot for him. But that hasn't happened yet.
  10. My thoughts: I actually like the 13 pitcher decision. Duffey belongs in the bullpen, and I like Mejia in the rotation. The rotation is bad enough so that they'll need 8 relievers. Hate the Park decision. Everyone knows he deserves that DH spot. He better be back soon. Grossman as DH and Santana as 4OF is a bad setup. Not convinced Adrianza will replace DanSan when healthy. This looks like another 90+ loss season. With the news about friction between the new regime and molly, it's incredibly clear molitor needs to go. Not a big fan of falvey/Levine so far, but I'm more concerned about how they draft and develop players. It's gonna be a long season.
  11. And to add to this, they have nobody capable of filling the closer role behind him. I don't want to see Belisle or Breslow in save situations and I don't think Molly is ready to trust Pressly or any of the other younglings. Feels a lot like the Jepsen situation last season. Just because he pitched really well last year doesn't guarantee the fact that he will this time around...
  12. To be fair, O'Rourke's hurt and will start the season on the DL. Not a fan of keeping Tonkin around either.
  13. This bullpen is probably going to fall like a house of cards. It all depends on the development of guys like Chargois, Melotakis, Reed, Jay, and others in AA and AAA who could make an impact on 2017 and 2018. If a chunk of them can figure things out, then I'm not too worried about the future of the bullpen. But if the guys come up to the majors and look like 2016 Berrios, 2016 Pat Light, or Spring Training 2017 Chargois (having no ability to throw strikes or have any command/control), then I'm worried.
  14. The only thing I don't want to see is Dozier leading off. I got tired of seeing countless solo HRs while he could have hit runners in. I know his OBP is good, but I'd rather see him in the 2-4 spots.
  15. I'm not buying the "Jay will become a starter later" story that some here are believing in. After he reaches the majors as a reliever, when's he going to get the time to ramp up all those innings in order to be a starter? After reading the prospect previews here about Jay, I can see that the writing was on the wall - this guy is most likely going to end up as a reliever, so let's put him on the right path. Maybe he can be a dominating closer one day. Maybe this can prevent him from getting TJ surgery at some point? Probably not, but our 1st rounders seem to be susceptible to that injury... Also if it's true that Perkins is topping out at 78 mph right now, that's not good. I know he wants to work his butt off and earn that $6.5M he's getting for 2017, but he's probably toast. You just don't come back from that injury the same.
  16. Ugh, I really felt May was going to win that #5 spot and finally prove himself as a starter. I really hope he can come back strong next season... this news really put a damper on my day. Hopefully we'll see Berrios and Mejia replacing him. I can't stand to see guys like Vogelsong or other AAAA filler getting starts.
  17. Breslow is 36, Belisle is 36, and Vogelsong is 39, and they could all make the team. That's not okay. We need guys like Chargois, Rogers, and Duffey in the bullpen, not late 30s guys at the ends of their careers. I like Belisle and I think he'll be fine, but Vogelsong has never pitched in the AL and his last two seasons have been poor. Breslow is trying out a new throwing style and hasn't been good since 2013. They're fine AAA filler but I don't want them pitching in the majors unless half the bullpen is injured.
  18. I'm gonna be honest, I never knew I joined this site in the same year that it started up. I actually thought it was 3-5 years old already... now I know!
  19. That bugged me too until I learned that it was confirmed that Mejia reached his innings limit.
  20. I was commenting more on the fact that several on this thread have suggested that there were too many "old" outfielders in the minors. I know these guys aren't going to crowd out the major league roster.
  21. The Twins just signed OFs Quintin Berry and Josh Romanski. The outfield in spring training is going to be very crowded...
  22. Yeah, we didn't get much for Abad, but he went on to pitch terribly for the Red Sox (6.39 ERA w/ 5.44 FIP). So they sold high at the right time but the 'prospect' we got hasn't been very good.
  23. I think Rogers is a lock. He pitched really well last season and he might take another step forward. My bullpen would be: Kintzler Belisle Pressly Rogers O'Rourke Chargois Duffey Maybe O'Rourke is redundant with Rogers on the roster, but I really like O'Rourke, but Molly has to use him as a LOOGY. If he's not willing, then I would keep Haley. I also think Chargois had a very good August-September and he should take another step forward. I hope he can take over the closer role by the end of the season, but we'll see. Boshers is fine depth, but Rogers and O'Rourke are better. Pat Light looked lost in the majors and he should spend most of 2017 in AAA. Michael Tonkin just isn't that good and Molly only used him in low-leverage situations. I'd be fine losing him on waivers. I'm swapping May's and Duffey's roles, but if management thinks Duffey can still be a starter, then Haley or Tonkin can take his spot.
