  1. They stated before the game Mejia was on a 70-80 pitch limit. They pulled him at 79 pitches. Can't blame him for that.
  2. You gotta give credit to the Twins, they always bounce back after hard losses. But there's an ocean of difference between the Yankees and Tigers...
  3. It's great to see Kepler with the big hit. His bat hasn't caught fire like the rest of the club's through August-Sept, maybe it can be his time to shine the following couple weeks.
  4. Polanco may not have a great OPS or hit for a ton of power, but he's been a great clutch hitter the past few weeks. He's done a fine (though not great) job of holding the #3 spot, which is not something I ever expected after seeing him torpedo through July. Plus he's hitting .332+ and .945+ OPS since August 1st.
  5. It is, but Gibson has been good lately, except for his last outing. And also the fact that the offense scores 10+ runs his past 4 or so parts.
  6. I don't think them pulling Mejia was a bad idea (they weren't going to go over his pitch count), but it stinks to see him yanked after doing so well. He's pretty clearly our 4th best starter right now (behind Gibson and ahead of Colon).
  7. Oh yes, bringing in Graham (the rule 5 rookie) to face A-Rod with the bases loaded and a small lead. That was a great idea. How could you not see a grand slam coming?! That one was the epitome of Molitor's terrible bullpen decisions.
  8. Duffey in a one run game? That's a gutsy move by Molly, I have a feeling it will work. But we'll see...
  9. Hildy is coming out a few betters too late. Yanks made the right move getting Robertson in to finish the 6th, Molly yet again hangs with a pitcher too long and gets burned.
  10. Oh boy, here we go. If we give away the lead here, I'm not sure we'll be able to beat that bullpen of theirs.
  11. My speculation yesterday was correct, Gee's the next man up in extra innings. Let's hope he can hold 'em...
  12. The Twins are paying the Angels something around $4M to help carry Nolasco's contract, right? Well, I guess we're paying him to stink elsewhere! What a shrewd move by Antony!
  13. We traded him to the Mariners for a pitcher named Stephen Pryor, but he never made it to the majors and quickly DFA'd. Yeah, I had to look that one up. Don't remember that at all.
  14. Will it be Hidly to the rescue again?
  15. Don't forget that Cleveland will likely still be competing with the Astros for the #1 seed, so they when they face us they'll still have their reasons to win. Unless they just win out the rest of the schedule... don't have to worry about Houston then.
  16. Somewhere, Royals fans are furious for that 0-2 hit.
  17. Yup, just another terrible decision to bunt. Polanco is hot, let him hit!
  18. Alright, Gibson, you've given up a run, now time to recover and get back to notching outs. Old Gibby would implode at this point in the game, so let's see what happens this time.
  19. I'm glad to see all that clamoring I did for Busenitz and Hildenberger back in May-June is paying off. Both are pitching spectacularly and they've been a huge boon to this bullpen. They're two names you can jot down on 2018's bullpen and hopefully not have to worry about those spots. I do wish Duffey and Pressly could get things figured out, as they've both had stretches of dominance followed by stretches of ineptitude.
  20. My thoughts: It stinks for Berrios to have another rough outing, but they just gotta keep throwing him out there. He'll get better and better as he goes on, but it's not going to be smooth sailing the whole time. The back end of the bullpen has been pretty brutal. I thought Perkins' problems would end up being his lack of velocity and inability to get Ks but apparently his problem is the inability to throw a strike - 3 walks and 3 HBPs in 5 innings. Maybe he has the stuff to hang on in the MLB but he needed a lot more than 7.1 innings in the minors before he was ready. He didn't pitch for 18 months and all he gets is 7.1 warmup innings before he's fed to the sharks?! Duffey has been downright terrible in his last 4 outings, giving up 8 earned runs plus more inherited runs. He needs to figure things out quick because his pitching isn't cutting it.
  21. Ugh. Molly finally used the LOOGY right and Boshers failed.
  22. Even when the Twins offense isn't putting across runs, they seem to consistently run the pitch count up. It's impressive to see the opposing pitcher pulled in the middle of the 6th inning after giving up just 1 run and 3 hits/2 walks.
  23. Wow, Buxton did a great job creating a run there!
