  1. This. I have no desire to continue down this road of mediocrity with the same mediocre players. This lineup needs a big shake up.
  2. I’m thinking this is what regression to the mean looks like for the Twins offense.
  3. Unfortunately that bit of great humor is going to be largely unrecognized.
  4. I’m not aware of anyone making that comparison. If they are it’s misguided.
  5. Two relievers and a fourth starter. All with multiple years of control. But you can only obtain them by trading some of the following: Martin, Bell, Mendez, Gonzalez, Rosario and Jeffers or any other non high end prospect.
  6. The answer to the question is no, I don’t think Tom Pohlad will trade Joe Ryan, unfortunately.
  7. I would rather have Keaschall get those at bats. He would be close in production and the experience valuable for his development.
  8. Royce is in the weird spot once promising players sometimes fall to. His current value is low enough that the chance he figure it out is more valuable than the marginal player we would receive in trade. I would hang on to him and hope. If the Twins have a chance to add a real masher for first base in the off- season you could send him to St Paul.
  9. Hard (very hard) pass.
  10. They are AAA players. No more complicated than that.
  11. 100 times this. Some objectivity would go a long way in this discussion. The Twins can use an upgrade at every lineup spot but CF and catcher, and Jeffers has to be traded. We have some nice prospects that are close - some will make it, others will not. We need the additional talent only trading some guys can bring.
  12. Taj is a stud and he still has another level to unlock with a little greater command
  13. Yep. If people are struggling with the concept they just need to watch Zebby pitch
  14. I think you are misunderstanding me. I have been advocating for selling at the deadline as I believe our next good or better players are on the farm right now or could be acquired at the deadline. I’m simply saying the average fan underestimates the rate of attrition with prospects. That’s why you need a lot of them.
  15. Hmmmm….i do. I read the minor league reports every day so I do enjoy following prospects just with the knowledge that most of them fail. Interestingly I actually think, with a couple shrewd trades that the Twins can be really good soon
  16. Completely agree. Every great player was a prospect. And every great player loses it at some point.
  17. Brian Cashman was asked what role analytics plays in the Yankees decision making. Im paraphrasing but he said it’s the foundation for forming their team. After that adjustments are made based on what they see is happening on the field. This approach feels different than the Twins, especially under Falvey.
  18. That term has been around a long time. It has nothing to do with analytics. There were very knowledgeable baseball people making decisions long before analytics.
  19. Correct. I’m not singling out Houston as I love a good fielding SS. His odds are definitely higher but he still has a long way to go. My point is just the general belief by fans that you can count on any prospect.
  20. It’s silly to think he was tanking. Joe gives up the long ball, always has. Bad day at the office.
  21. Yes I understand that. My point is fans get so far ahead of themselves with prospects and then can’t understand why their Knight in Shining Armor doesn’t get out of AA. It seems most fans don’t understand the vast majority of prospects fail. 6-8% of players that enter professional baseball make it to the bigs yet I’m reading that Marek Houston is a lock to be our SS of the future. It doesn’t jibe with reality.
