  1. It's been a slow off-season. We need something to over analyze and critique until the next minor league signing.
  2. Especially when it involves the White Sox. They've indicated they are going into a rebuild, so why give that money to a guy who won't be around when they're competitive again?
  3. As you alluded to, they seem to be able to find guys, but they let them slip through their fingers. Add Cano and Zach Littell to that list. I never understood letting Coulombe get away. When he wasn't on the IR, he pitched well for them. It was a dumb decision at the time, and it has looked worse with age.
  4. I think Keller would be a great get, but a package centered around Wallner is not gonna get it done. Think of what the Twins had to give up for Pablo Lopez. I think it's unlikely Keller is even available. There would be riots in Pittsburgh. I could maybe see Keller being shopped at the trade deadline if he can't work out an extension with the Pirates.
  5. Camargo will eventually get a chance to prove himself. There will be injuries.
  6. This article is spot on. Trading Vasquez would be one of the dumbest things they could do this off-season.
  7. I think this article nicely sums up the situation. I just have two quick comments... 1. I would not consider Brooks Lee untouchable. If the season started today, the Twins would not have a spot for him in the infield, and he will be someone that trade partners would want. 2. I'm sure this has been discussed to death on other threads, but why not have Julien play first, like they did with Arraez? It would hurt to lose his OBP.
  8. Does anyone know what the compensation will be for the Twins? I assume the Twins will get a pick between the first and second round, but I could be mistaken.
  9. I guess that's what it comes down to. Maybe one or both will have a bounce back year, in which case the Cards are getting a good deal, but both are 36. At some point there will be further regression and injuries.
  10. Yeah, I'm not sure what the Cards overall strategy is. But hey, if this is the way they want to go, Dallas Keuchel is still available!
  11. If this is Maeda's last contract, it'll be a nice payday to end his career.
  12. Here's the link.... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/cardinals-expected-to-finalize-deal-with-sonny-gray.html It says the Cardinals are "Expected" to finalize a deal. Who knows what that means.
  13. Yeah, that seems perfectly reasonable. I actually thought he would get more. Maybe the Twins are aiming higher.
  14. Since you brought up the issue of the remotely located Family Value concession stands.....why do they only sell normal sized hot dogs at the lone, hard to find, value concession stand. I don't want the "Big Dog". I just want a normal hot dog.
  15. The Twins lucked out with injuries to their catchers last year. They will need at least 3 halfway decent catchers to start the season. I, for one, do not want to see them having to give at bats to guys like Sandy Leon down the stretch. Bottom line, unless someone is willing to take his entire contract, I don't see how this makes sense for the Twins.
  16. Dallas Keuchel is still available!
  17. So that means someone like Maeda has gotta be around $15 million?
  18. I keep seeing Logan Gilbert 's name thrown around as a trade target on this site, but what evidence is there that Seattle would even consider trading him? Given his talent and team control, he's arguably their most valuable pitcher. They are in win now mode. If they need offense, they're probably more likely to deal one of their more unproven commodities, like Hancock.
  19. Kinda makes you wonder why the Pohlad's ok'd the Correa contract. The problems at the RSNs were not a secret last off-season. They had to know there was at least the possibility that payroll would have to come down.
  20. The silly season has begun. He's been good, but not great. That's a lot of guaranteed money.
  21. How is Dakota Hudson only 29? Just seems like he's been around a while. Yeah, this list doesn't have much to get excited about. Maybe if they can get Cimber or Trevino as cheap competition for bullpen spots.
  22. No one is "untouchable" if the right deal comes along and it can help the club. If the Twins want to add a starter via trade, they are going to have to offer up premium talent, including, possibly, a name off this list.
  23. Having been to the Coliseum, I can honestly say a road trip to Vegas to see the Twins will be a lot more fun. Actually, the Coliseum was a great place before Al Davis ruined it with that renovation in center field. It's hard to shed tears for billionaire owners, but the city of Oakland clearly had no intention of working with the A's to get something done. Tough day for the fans in Oakland.
  24. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/braves-acquire-aaron-bummer-in-six-player-deal.html#comments Soroka, Shuster, Nicky Lopez, Braden Shewmake, Riley Gowens. I know all of those guys have issues, but it seems like a high price to pay for Aaron Bummer. Soroka and Shuster are still young and could figure things out.
