  1. Agreed! Yes, injuries have played the primary role in never being able to gain momentum when they were trying to get on a role but the fundamentals! Their have been so many games where we blew it with bone headed plays on the field. Also so many games we had on hand and the bullpen would completely blow it. In order to be able to take 8 out of 10 games or 15 out of 20 you have to be sharp and making the right plays. Throwing to the cutoff man. Getting the ball in. Throwing strikes. Fundamentals killed this team from the beginning. I put a lot of that on the coaching staff personally
  2. Almost everything stated here makes very little sense. Maybe Santana doesn’t get hurt with the twins. But he did and you could probably reason that he would have no matter what team he played for. So, he would have never pitched a playoff game in 09 or 10 even if the twins were able to sign him. Which in turn worked out terrible for the Mets having that contract on the books when he was unable to play. Then, it’s been stated that Berrios wants to go to the market to make a splash. So why in the world would you think he could’ve been signed for 12-15M? Maybe 3 years ago. Maybe. Haven’t we been trying to extend him and Buxton for years now? I wanna say when Kepler and polanco signed their deals Buxton and Berrios were brought extensions as well. Berrios has obviously been eyeing FA for some time now so I don’t think that 12-15M number was ever relevant. These two pitchers and situations are polar opposites in every degree
  3. Because his value is at its peak. The twins and Berrios seem miles apart. We’re not actively trying to trade him. As the reports said they’re asking price is sky high. You’re looking to be blown away. An offer you can’t refuse.
  4. Absolutely! If they can get a premiere SS I’m game. My gripe is with the starry eyed perspective of getting a SS destined for third or the corner OF prospect. If we can pry Abrams I’m ecstatic! Or a true pure CF. Other than that we need top flight pitching prospects! Stat!
  5. I say no to all of these. If we’re trading Berrios we need at least 2 high ranking pitchers back. Why are we wanting corner infielders and outfielders? Our problem is pitching and we’re trading our best. We should be getting back 3 SP’s if not more. Yeah, it’s nice to get other teams top prospects but we have way more than enough outfielders for sure. Did we not just see the Cruz trade? Unless it’s a Buxton type outfield prospect we should not be the least interested.
  6. Ding ding ding! Couldn’t agree more. This had to happen. Also, this should be the first in a long line! We need to load the system with pitching so we’re not calling up the Derrick laws of the organization. If we’re gonna develop a lights out bullpen we need electric stuff flowing out of AAA. Maybe these 2 are both back of the rotation filler and that’s fine. But we need an overflow of young “stuff” guys to take the role on or we will be relegated to mediocrity in building a bullpen.
  7. Agreed. At this point let’s give up on the Sano experiment. Let’s give Rooker the rest of the DH ab’s the rest of the season and see how he fares. Now that the trades have begun let’s get some more call ups and see what we have in the kids! Agreed though, I value Arraez as maybe the most exciting player on this team when Buxton is out. Which to this point has been pretty much his whole career
  8. Great trade for both teams! It had to be done and for Cruz as a rental we got some quality pieces to next years puzzle. 2 guys who have a legit shot at the rotation next year! Let’s keep shopping!!!
  9. Yes! This is what I’m saying! People enamored by Megill should remember and think about this comp! I’m not saying he doesn’t turn into a good SP. I’m just saying that his track record shows nothing of him being a dominant top of the rotation starter. If I’m getting him as the headliner with a few down the road lottery tickets that seems like a recipe for disaster if I’m trading my best top of the rotation pitcher at max value
  10. I guess I’m not a scout but it’s a small sample size and for Berrios I’m just not impressed yet with the return. Maybe he becomes the best pitcher in mlb. But his track record makes me wonder and I’m not sure I pull that deal at this time.
  11. I’m not sure it does but if my package is Allen, Dominguez and Megill or even add Mauricio in there for good measure. If that’s the package for Berrios I’m keeping Berrios for next year. If they keep him you know they’ll get offers for him over the winter and next year. It’s just that he’s more valuable right now. So if his value is at its height and that’s the package I’m getting I’m saying no and taking my chances. That’s what I’m saying. This package is very underwhelming
  12. True, but are we really getting excited over an Allen, Dominguez, Megill trade for Berrios? I’m not. I’d take Berrios in ‘22 and let him walk for the comp pick in that scenario.
  13. I just don’t see a trade scenario where the Twins get true immediate value for next year. Out of all the teams that could conceivably be in on Berrios the Mets are probably at the bottom. It’s nice to have them in the bidding war but really you’re hoping the Jays, dodgers and Padres get into a bidding war for him. That’s the ideal scenario I think
  14. On baseball trade values I just threw in your guys you stated on here and a few others and it’s still miles apart. Could you hope you catch lightning in a bottle with this group? Sure! But unless you put Rocker in there as a ptbnl there’s really no one in their system that says it’s a no brainer. Unless magically we get Syndergaard already signed to a super team friendly deal included in there. I’m not keen on trading with the Mets unless they literally offer the whole system dang near haha
  15. We’ve all known it since the rumblings years ago about extensions not being done with Berrios. This guy is betting big on himself and that’s fine. This guy needs to be traded and we need to get some legit prospects for him. His value will never be higher than in the next week. Let’s stop thinking he’s staying and let’s take the haul and hope we hit on 50% of the prospects we get back
  16. I’d take the dodgers trade. With San Diego I’d replace Hassell with Gore. I don’t care how he’s pitching right now. He’s a stud and that’s who you want. If I can’t have Gore then I want Abrams. The twins absolutely do not need another outfielder. Especially one who’s so far away at this point. If I’m having to trade Berrios and Rogers I don’t want an outfielder as the centerpiece. You’ve either got to have a potential elite SP or the potential elite SS. If we get the SS Royce Lewis goes to centerfield. If we get the SP Lewis still goes to CF. Cause let’s be honest. That’s his destiny. Unless Buxton signs the long term deal in which case Lewis is still playing half the season there anyways
  17. Cruz is a fit here! Why in the world would we target Deichmann? We don’t need more outfielders we need pitchers. What about Puk? Seems like he’s faded as well. Another good reclamation change of scenery guy with electric stuff. If nothing else he slides to the bullpen as a shutdown guy. A good fit in a Cruz only trade I believe! It’s one of those rare win win scenarios
  18. Personally I love Arraez and think we need him on this team. If I had to part with anyone and let’s assume Donaldson is staying I probably part with Polanco to keep Arraez in the infield. At this point I don’t think you part with a 24yo with his hitting and OBP skills. He should be part of this team going forward. As for Miranda. He can be groomed for 3rd. Arraez should be at the keystone every night with Gordon as the utility.
  19. I posted in another thread the trade simulator and if I remember correctly a Berrios and Rogers package would line up with a package of Pearson, Woods-Richardson or Manoah and a couple low level lottery tickets. That’s a pretty good haul. I believe Berrios alone nets at least Pearson and Kloffenstein. That’s the real value for value. Hard to say no to that if we’re looking for impact pitching
  20. Exactly!!! Let’s remember what was In place before the Falvine era. Terry Ryan and a bunch of guys still flying off the late 80’s and early 90’s way of doing things as the league was undergoing a massive shift. I remember a quote from a front office guy from another team saying the twins were far behind in the analytics/modern way of baseball scouting and development. It showed!!! I’m surprised they’ve changed the culture as fast as they have. I think we forget how bad the twenty teens were. A Pohlad fired a Ryan and a Gardenhire. Guys who were immortals in the day.
  21. It’s a tough call. I think Berrios is going to test FA no matter what from the sounds of where extension talks have run. So I think the twins will have to massively overpay him for an extension. If that’s the case you ask one question. If Pearson or Gore are on the table would you prefer 6-7 years of either one of them? Or would you like 6-8 years of Berrios at $25-$30M? Also, if we take the latter we’re talking about a smaller pitcher who’s never really had an ACE season venturing into his 30’s at the back end of that contract. Personally I’d take my chances on trying to overachieve next year with an eye toward 2023 and beyond with what hopefully amounts to a stud pitcher rather than holding the bag after 2022 and hoping to stay competitive past that. If we sell high on these guys now and get back some really good pieces there’s no reason we can’t surprise teams next year and have a really solid team going forward. There’s pieces in place. This team is not like the ‘11-‘15 clubs that were destined for 100 losses every year. This is a crossroads for sure!
  22. Absolutely!!! Heck, why don’t we take one of each. Gavin Williams with the first round pick and then a prepster who falls or has good upside with their next pick. Seems legit to me!
  23. The Twins need to start drafting pitchers in the first 2 rounds period! Kohl Stewart was the right choice when he was drafted. You don’t win the lottery if you never buy a ticket.
  24. We need pitchers!!!! College pitchers preferably who can be up in 2-3 years. Load the system like KC and Detroit have done. Enough outfielders. Enough with drafting 1st basemen with average power. If we’re simply gonna draft outfielders to supply the rest of the league with our over supply how about we skip that step and let them draft them. We need to take that mentality to pitching. How about we supply the league with our over supply of pitching? We need to be drafting pitchers!!!! Rant over. Haha
  25. Pearson and Woods-Richardson for Berrios, Cruz and a throw in.
