  1. While I agree with this, it is setting up that the only central division team going to the playoffs is the champion, and the Twins do have 3.5 game lead, so there is some room to let things play out, but a couple of months in a long time and if Cleveland passes them in the division and starts pulling away the second half might be a little late to be figuring things out.
  2. hmm, Taylor Rogers was the main piece with 3 other nobody's in the trade to get Hader. The Twins have gotten 73 innings from Pagan, and 22 from Paddack. I have no idea what you even mentioned if it was the Paddock or Pagan trade who cares? My point was as of now it isn't even close on who won, the Padres were able to swap out Rogers for Hader, and the twins have a terrible Pagan and an injured Paddock, how at this point can that be anything but a loss for the Twins? But if Paddock comes back from injury and is good the Twins can still win this trade. and yes congrats Rooker!
  3. They did turn Pagen, Paddock, and 3 others into Josh Hader, and the Twins still have an injured Paddock and Pagen, so at this point the Padres have won this trade in a huge way. Now that can turn around fairly quickly but...
  4. There were people calling for Archer to pitch more? I thought people were saying he shouldn't even be on the team. And to clarify I think people were saying pulling guys early with a low pitch count with little to no runs. But sure lets pretend people were calling for starters to go longer after giving up 5 runs in the second inning.
  5. Still to cold out for the Twins offense?
  6. Agreed, at his worst he is better than Gordon at his best.
  7. Well he has played 4 games and tied for 7th on the team in RBI and is 15h in at bats, so yes he coming back was the right time.
  8. Well I would say that Wade's 2021 season was the best so far(he was 21st in the MVP voting) and Baddoo's 21 season is the second best season. Other than that those two have been terrible and Larnach hasn't been much better. Again, I thought the point was they were let go because the thought was that Larnach and maybe AK were superior to them and as this point those two haven't been competent major league players or just barely. I believe Larnach will be better (thus they did the right thing keeping him over the other two) then either of those two but he needs to get better and a hurry, sending a 26 year old to the minors is not a good sign for his career.
  9. I didn't take it that Baddo or Wade have been great or even good, just that they were let go because of what the Twins thought of Larnach, and as of today that hasn't been great.
  10. He is 26 and needs more time in AAA?Really? I would love to see examples of guys that age 24 and 25 were league average at best then were sent down and later became something more than league average?
  11. I would disagree that he was one of the better starters prior to surgery, he was a good starting pitcher. In his best season (11 starts) he was tied for 27th in WAR (1.6)per ESPN, behind Dylan Bundy. His only season with a WAR above 2 was his rookie year 2016 (2.4) again ESPN. Same numbers at Baseball reference. In his 21 starts in 21 his WAR was .3. IMO he should have started the year in the pen and Ober giving the starting job, that didn't happen, now my opinion is Maeda should be given every chance to start, since I don't believe Ober is a future piece of the Twins starting staff, other than a really good fill in starter.
  12. The have lost a 40 man spot since calling up SWR last year. Not saying that is bad or wrong, just a fact, if he turns out to not be good it would be wasted 40 man.
  13. Kind of funny that the best guy is hurt, 24, in AA, and without a real position, and the next best just got demoted after attempting 0 stolen bases.
  14. and that is why I was calling for Ober to be the long man and Alcala in AAA. Oh well, Ober must have done something real bad to be passed over again.
  15. "It’s unlikely any Minnesota player is going to steal 30 bases this season" It if funny you say any player could reach 30, will the whole team? Since 2018 they have stolen 47, 28, 14, 54, 38. Where are the re-enforcement's coming to steal bases? AK? he is 13 for 23 in the minors and 1 for 2 in the majors? Polanco? coming off injury? and last year was 3 for 6 Lewis? coming off an ACL? Lee? he hasn't successfully stolen a base since he was drafted. Contreras in AAA has 5 and Stevenson as 6, they excite anybody?
  16. Besides Lee, which prospects are there? Wallner? Martin and Lewis are hurt. Erod, maybe but isn't he hurt now as well? Otherwise I don't see any prospects that are even close.
  17. Buxton's last four years his OPS+ has been 115,125,171,135, when playing, Correa'a lifetime OPS+ is 128, Polanco's is 111, but besides his down 2020 it has been above 110 each year. AK has shown nothing in the majors that he is a core type player, I blame the injury but regardless besides 35 games in St. Paul last year it is a long way from 2018 season and should be considered a core player (at least not this year) Vazquez is a good catcher but right now is basically the best he has ever been and isn't a core offensive player. Larnach is a power guy? He has 36 total homers in the 5 seasons since joining the organization. Like I said before the core of this offense starts and ends with Buxton, Correa, and Polanco. Hopefully Miranda gets back on track to play second fiddle to those and AK gets healthy for the first time, and the rest are platooned correctly and get hot enough times to help win games. As for Nick Gordon, I hope I am wrong, but those hoping he someone turns into the hitter he was last year, good luck with that I don't see it happening, he should be nothing more than a defensive specialist last man off the bench for a playoff team, not somebody to be counted on. I find it interesting that some people want Castro cut (who by the way is younger than Gordon and done more in the majors than Gordon) but think Gordon can turn it around?
  18. The Core should be Buxton, Correa and Polanco, and so far that core is bad, the next group Miranda, Kepler, bad. Gallo has been decent as have the catchers and Solano. That is not a good offense, but when the core heats up (or plays) the rest won't look so bad.
  19. I don't think Larnach should be send down, but I am a realist. Before hitting a 3 run homer last night, he was 5 for his last 41 with 1 XBH. This was after starting 7 for 16 with 2 XBH. While that is better than Gordon it is terrible. Hopefully hitting a ground ball to first with guys on 2nd and 3rd and his homer off a 35 year old basically career minor league pitcher jumps starts his season again. This stretch isn't much different than the stretch last year where he hit .127 with 3 XBH that got him sent down. I want him to succeed but if there was a decent younger prospect I would be calling for him, Can Lee play LF?
  20. The problem with this is he is 25 years old (and 167 days) and if he spends the majority of the season in AAA he isn't much of a prospect anymore or somebody that should be counted on anything more than depth. (Regardless if it is his injury or lack of hitting keeping him down). The problem like I said elsewhere is this FO doesn't develop prospects, so we all end up talking about 25,26,and 27 (28 in Ober's case) year olds like they are going to figure it out and be above average players, when in reality unless said player is a catcher or relief pitcher they generally are who they are at that age or instead of getting better they are on the downside.
  21. Agreed, it is strange that we (i have done it) calling for Ober to be in the rotation instead of Varland. Maeda is only 7 years older than Ober, Varland who I still think is a bit on the older side for a prospect is only 25. IMO I don't think the Twins see Ober as a future full time rotation guy, nor should they with his age and injury history.
  22. The problem for this team and the front office is their complete lack at developing any prospects besides relief pitchers. It would be nice to have 1 OF prospect ready to step up and put pressure on Gordon, Miranda and Larnach to deliver. It is early and time for Larnach to get better (His time in the majors doesn't really show he is much better than what he is doing now, but there is always hope) It isn't a huge surprise that Miranda is struggling this year and should be given sometime to get back to being good, but again there is basically nothing in the minors to send him down for a couple of weeks to get his confidence back. Gordon fooled quite a few people last year (weren't some calling for him to be a starter?), he is 27 and is nothing more than a utility player simple as that. Ultimately if Buxton and Correa hit like the stars they are, the rest probably won't really matter..
  23. Hate to be negative but outside a few in the starting staff, Wallner and Julien this team doesn't look like a team I would run over to St. Paul and watch.
  24. On the surface there isn't much here besides Lee and Festa.
  25. It is only two games so this is not a complaint, just an observation but if the starters don't get a bit more efficient (they are running up their pitch count in games where they aren't giving up runs) and/or Rocco doesn't start allowing a relief pitcher to pitch more than 1 inning, we could be heading down a very familiar path. I expect them to get better but I also expect them to give up some runs as well.
