  1. As a former community college first baseman I believe there is a difference between being a good defensive first baseman and catching and scooping balls thrown to them. Yes their is foot work involved around the base but being a professional baseball player should be able to catch a throw and with a little practice learn how to scoop based on where the throws are coming from.
  2. I am not saying you are wrong, but this would be one of the dumbest things in baseball I have ever seen, bring up your youngish super stud and this requires one of the worst players in the major leagues this year to play more? If Farmer gets more playing time because Lewis is healthy, the FO should be fired immediately, because if there is so much playing time for Farmer, at least give it to Lee to let him start figuring out MLB pitching. (He can't be any worse than Farmer)
  3. Oh I agree they were not going to DFA Santana, I was just saying there were only 4 possible scenarios. Leave Lewis in AAA (not going to happen), Demote Miranda(wasn't likely with the way he has been playing), Demote Julien or DFA Santana. Makes no sense to talk about Farmer since he is basically the last player on the 26 with some positional flexibility and Miranda (3B/1B/DH) and Julien (2B/DH) don't have really have that.
  4. It is the only option that makes sense, how does cutting a backup player help the Twins lineup or defense? How does cutting or demoting an outfielder help out? I mean the only other real option was cutting Santana.
  5. I am not saying he had a bad game, but any game where your ERA is 6.23 you go less than half the game should never be considered a really good game. It was a great win, a great series win and overall a great week for the good guys. Now if a few of the Twins like Kepler and Buxton would start helping the lineup again and with Lewis back this could be a super fun ride.
  6. I get the hate for Donaldson, he only played 28 of 60 games in 2020 but did produce a .842 OPS, in 21 he played 135 games and produced a .827 OPS, yes both of those are lowered than we hoped. and in a year and a half had a WAR of 3.7 and had OPS+ of 132 and 127. Bundy for example was allowed to pitch 140 innings with a negative WAR. How much was Pineda paid to produce 4.6 WAR over 4 years?
  7. same height as the ball 4 for Perez just more inside.
  8. Have you seen the article where people think paying Kepler 20 million next year is a good idea, and while he has been good, he has hasn't been as good as Vlad.
  9. Who would I give up? probably more than most. I would offer then their choice of Wallner/Larnach/AK, Gonzalez, and a young pitcher in someplace in the 30ish ranking. But before doing that I would look to see if anybody has any interest in Santana and take whatever was offered, look to trade Farmer again for whatever somebody is willing to offer. I bring up Lee to take Farmers position. Would the Twins do what I suggested, nope, would the Twins do anything to get Vlad, mostly likely not. Doing what I suggested cleans up the 40 man a bit, gets rid of one of the lefties that might hold Jenkins or Erod back, gives the team a chance to get Lee acquainted to the majors by setting him up with good matchups, and could get reduce "some" of the payroll that Santana and Farmer are taking up (I assume the Twins would more than likely have to cover some of their salary. And possibly might take some pressure off of Lewis by having another guy to help carry the load. IMO going into to next year every outfielder on the 40 man has fairly big question marks (Buxton injury, Kepler FA) if they can reduce some of those question marks and open spots up for others all the better.
  10. Well they gifted him a double last night on a play that should have absolutely been an error.
  11. Who do you think he is Judge or Trout? His career average is .272, he is hitting .270, He has never hit more than 26 homers and he is just under that pace, His career OPS is .819 and it currently is .809. His career OPS+ is 125 and it is 132. Career OBP is .352 and currently .356
  12. There is a huge difference between hate and being realistic. If I believed the Twins were going back to a 150 million plus payroll I would say they would offer him a QO, but I don't see how 20 million fits next year's payroll if it is about the same as this year, with AK, Larnach, Martin, and others still being here as part time platoon type players. At some point those vaunted prospects have to set up and take a job, like Jeffers has. I mean every prospect can't be a platoon type player.
  13. Guys on the wrong side of 25 have to put up good to great numbers or their baseball careers in MLB will be over. I put the stats up last year, Keirsey wasn't a top 5 CF in AA last year and was generally 3 to 5 years older than the guys above him. For the Twins to seriously think he is a solution more than a fill in guy he has to be putting up video games numbers like Stevenson did last year and that wasn't enough for him. But I get Twins fans have emotional hope that guys that aren't highly thought of in the minors are going to step in a do really well, when in reality that is much, much harder said than done. (I mean Keirsey has never been the prospect that Martin, Wallner, Larnach, AK, Miranda or Julien were and it hasn't been easy for any of them) It wasn't that long ago that Chris Williams and/or Prato were going to help the Twins turn things around.
  14. IMO expecting a 27 year old player that spent the last two years in AA to be even be replacement level offensively is setting a very high bar. Another unproven left handed bat is probably not what is ailing the Twins right now. I am fine with him being a defensive player, I much rather see EROD. I do wish and hope for the best for him and he does deserve a shot in the majors.
  15. I kind of get the hype of Keirsey, but can anybody explain the difference between him and Stevenson last year? They seem like similar players except Stevenson got some time in the majors at age 24. I really like the first 4 guys a future cornerstone type players, and it seems like many of the next 16 will be big league players of some sort. Thanks for the work put into getting this info.
  16. On the Nats, is fastball was between 99 and 101 and his splitter 93-95 (mostly at 95), might be I would think both would be getting the same numbers, but who knows.
  17. That homer was off a splitter than moved right into Meneses swing, and the single was just good hitting, Duran looked fine and was hitting 101 on the Nats broadcast.
  18. So far turned into a pretty darn good bullpen game.
  19. Did they just say that Max is 3/19 on right handed pitchers 95 plus?
  20. Larnach looked better against the lefty than Farmer, just saying 😜
