  1. Can I afford the app? absolutely I saved way more than that by cutting the cord. Am I going to pay that, no chance, My family has gotten along fine the last couple of years without the Twins on TV, and Hulu basically has a game on TV every night. Me and my son check the score and what is happening in the Twins game with free ESPN or MLB app, and that is good enough. It is hard to believe MLB let this happen, but then again they seem make a lot of bad decisions.
  2. You don't need to justify what Rocco did and the reasons behind it, I said it worked and probably was the right thing,
  3. Yes (the manager thought he was so impressive that he didn't think he could get a left handed hitter out), yes. I would have entertained the option, I wouldn't go so far to as to call a 5 inning game against the worst teams in baseball impressive. So to answer your last question, NO the 1 pitch in your hypothetical doesn't up Ryan's start to impressive, it makes it better than a not so good of start to a decent start with a chance to get a win, but in your scenario he now sits at 82 pitches, so if he comes out with zeros in the 6th in a decent amount of pitches, now that is an impressive start, he went 6, worked though a jam or two, set himself and the team up for a win, all while not having his best stuff. That is impressive. But if you and others think that 4 2/3 innings against Baltimore is impressive, great, I just don't.
  4. With the way Ryan has pitched in his short career so far I expect him to be able to finish at least 5 innings, so anything less is not impressive to me. You think a starter going 4 2/3 inning and getting pulled because two guys are on in the 5th is impressive, great, I mean I guess he did pitch more than half the game so there is that.
  5. I understood why they took him out and it worked, doesn't chance my opinion that his start wasn't impressive, that is my point. Until they change the rule on how starting pitchers get wins, anything less than qualifying for a win IMO (unless like I stated above it was predetermined the starter wasn't going to go 5 innings) isn't impressive.
  6. Did you see the game? He wasn't be asked to go back out, he was standing on the mound in the 5th with two outs and two on and he got taken out. And somehow this relates to innings pitched and being stretched out? I was talking about how the writer wrote "he continued to impress" and IMO 4 2/3 innings isn't impressive at all, I mean the Baltimore pitcher pitched 5 innings.
  7. It was a great win, the bullpen came though as well as the offense, Buxton's double was just fun to watch. But can we stop with the "he continued to impress", He didn't even pitch 5 innings any starting pitcher not on a low pitch count or planned to pitch less than 5 innings should be IMO considered a failed start if they don't pitch at least 5 innings. Joe Ryan is way too good of a pitcher and been pitching way too well this year to be taken out because he is in a bit of trouble with two outs and 81 pitches in the 5th inning.
  8. Love me some Ryan and he has been great, but not sure how 4 starts and 23 innings with an ERA of 1.17 is better than than 4 starts 29 innings and a .93 ERA or 4 starts 32 innings and a .84 ERA? Just saying
  9. By himself, I can't imagine he gets the Twins much of anything, He is a 26 year old soft throwing minor league pitcher. Think of what the Twins got from the Padres for 1 year of Rogers.
  10. With Ober, Ryan on the cheap, and Hopefully Winder, and another starter pitching prospect or two, it seems like the right time to sign somebody to a contract this side.
  11. Like your thinking, hopefully the Twins MGMT can come up with a plan to have one of their better pitchers pitching in the big leagues (as long as he deserves it) instead of wasting pitches in the minors.
  12. I am not saying what Rocco should have done, just asking the question is it Rocco's MO to give rookies a chance in late in a tight game? Or is it his MO to not play a guy he is resting unless it is absolutely the last choice?
  13. Winder is 25 years old, not too concerned about his development other than can he get major league hitters out, so far so good, now keep putting him out there to get guys out. What are the odds they send him down and he is going 6 to 7 innings in AAA, gets called up and is expected and/or allowed to pitch more than 4 or 5? I am going with not good, and he is already doing that now, why change what is working with him.
  14. Seeing that he pitched 5.1 innings in one game and 4 in the other, he seems as stretched out as Bundy, Archer and Paddack already and has pitched less than 10 pitches less than Ober. I just don't see the logic of demoting a guy that seems to be a better pitcher than half of the other bullpen guys to the minors, to pretend he will be allowed to pitch 7 inning games this year. So I guess agree to disagree
  15. In 2020 he only walked twice in 130 at bats, and 13 in 254 in 2021, and twice this year in 37 at bats, he could work on that.
  16. In his last 110 games he has put up 7.8 WAR with 30 doubles, 38 homers, .336 OBP, .651 OPS, .990 OPS (If I did the math correct, but it should be close), so when healthy he is one of the best players on the planet. Lets hope he stay healthy.
  17. The only way this makes sense is to have Ober and Ryan pitch like a normal starting pitcher and eventually Gray, than piggy back Bundy with Paddack, and Archer with Winder. (or however with those 4) I see no chance Duran gets a starting job this year, after basically not pitching last year, they can keep his workload down by pitching 1 or 2 innings at time and giving him the needed rest.
  18. And he can't do this while pitching in MN? I mean he kind of has with two of his appearances being 4 and 5.1 innings. His 5.1 inning is longer than 2 of Ober's 3 starts, longer than both of Paddack's, long than 1 of Ryans, longer than 2 of Bundy's and tied with the other, and longer than all three of Archers. To me this is on Rocco to figure out how to get one of his better pitchers innings and keep him stretched out, not send him to the minors and have lesser pitchers on the major league roster.
  19. He has pitched in 3 games, the same as Ryan, Ober, Bundy and Archer. He has pitched in 1 less inning than Archer. His ERA is better than every relief pitcher not name Smith, Pagan and Coulombe. So the Twins pitching is so good it can demote one of its better pitchers and one that can pitch multiple innings for an inferior pitcher? IMO until Archer proves he can go more than 4 innings Winder should be lined up to piggy back his starts. Or just take Paddack's spot. Winder is 25 years old and should be pitching in the majors until it shows he can't, Also no AAA pitcher has started more than 3 games and only Smeltzer has pitched more innings (starting), so is he really going to get more work in St. Paul?
  20. It would be hard to argue about his results so far, lets see how the starting pitchers hold up when asked to push their pitch count up.
  21. Why does WInder go down, he has the 5th most inning pitched and an ERA 3.48, what good does that do sending him down?
  22. Acuna 20, Albies 20, Tatis 20, Vlad jr just a few recent players.
  23. Sorry, I guess I didn't know a floor was two fold, wash out and or reliever. As of now they have developed Ober, Maybe Winder, maybe Alcala and Maybe Duran, yes there seems to be a good looking group coming but lets cross our fingers they mostly work out. I have a hard time giving them credit for developing Ryan (it was a great trade) and then giving them a pass on Strotman at this point.
  24. I agree, I mean after he grooved the fastball to the first batter and got his no hitter and perfect game out of the way. It didn't happen all the time but sure felt like it. Hated him retiring at age 33, I remember at one time he had one of the highest percentage chance to get to 300 wins as just about anybody.
  25. His floor appears to be a reliever? You mean in A ball reliever? I think his floor is out of baseball in a few years, that is not what I am hoping, but it is way better to assume a 19 year old that can't throw strikes is never going to amount to anything, man even a 19 year that can throw strikes you can assume won't make it. With that said it is great to get a guy with a really live arm, there is no down side, he isn't close to needed to be added to the 40 I assume, so he can spend a few years trying to figure it out and if not he gone.
