  1. Removing erroneous content placed here. It happens...
  2. With Kepler, Sanchez, Kirilloff and Urshela doing the deed?
  3. Indeed. I edited my previous post in utter shame over that late recognition.
  4. What've you got that I ain't got? Whoops, my bad...I'm probably the only person who thought of the obscure '80s rock band before thinking of Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder. Pardon me.
  5. Impingement, pure and simple.
  6. I'll take one over nothing. By the way, given your location, I haven't heard anything from Fearless Leader in a long while. How's he doing?
  7. I'm sure it's a run-of-the-mill impingement, nothing more.
  8. Having the winning run on 2nd with nobody out and Buxton, Correa, Kepler and Sanchez up should result in the run scoring. Not even putting a ball in play is beyond disheartening. This offense is either in feast or famine mode, and that more than anything will impair any hopes for October. Nonetheless, there are significant overdoses of ipecac among the commentariat here. Minnesotans aplenty go this route due to the frequent, colossal ineptitude of Minnesota's professional and major-revenue collegiate teams over the last half century. If past performance ensures a future result, however, then I'm using the 1987 and 1991 Twins as my baseline, and not the latest reference tweeted by a Star Tribune sports columnist. It's baseball. It's not my raison d'être.
  9. The only time I remember in which a first-place team was genuinely trying to catch a second-place team occurred on September 7-10, 1978 at Fenway Park. And it was amplified in importance because of the opposing teams. I'm enjoying this experiment so far...
  10. Can someone please tell me when to start panicking?
  11. I completely understand adhering to the statistics when deciding whether to attempt base stealing. But the enthusiasm for baseball I developed decades ago when seeing Lou Brock or Rickey Henderson swipe bases was irreplaceable. Older me likes WAR and OPS+, but younger me needed the pizzazz to become a fan. Perhaps this matters to today's "younger me's" as well...
  12. Imagine what the comments would sound like here by now if Falvine hadn't snagged Correa and Gray during the offseason.
  13. From Bloom County, my favorite comic strip of all time, where Berke Breathed penned the trenchant line: "Government is the last refuge of the nincompoop."
  14. Paranoia (n.): An obsession with your nearest division rival before the first day of summer.
  15. The Yankees are now 15-1 in June. The Twins scored 19 runs against them in three games. Everyone else has combined for 18 runs in the other 13 games. Toronto had won 8 straight when the shorthanded Twins arrived to take two of three. A pessimist would jump on the 3-7 stretch against Detroit and Kansas City that preceded this. I prefer to notice their resilience under considerable adversity. They're undaunted. Enjoy this summer.
  16. Just saw the score. Who kicked the three field goals?
  17. No doubt I'll see this again on September 20 when the Twins hold a two-game lead.
  18. The Twins are playing at a .623 clip over their past 53 games despite numerous injuries and wildly inconsistent hitting and relief pitching. That's a pretty durable accomplishment, so keep that reality in mind over the next two weeks no matter what happens during a much shorter game span against a competitive division rival.
  19. For solid relief pitching, the Twins need to go to the portal. In this case, a time portal, set to 1991 and Carl Willis. Hey, a guy can dream...
  20. Now to Phoenix, followed by eight games in ten days against Cleveland. The first taste of the pennant race is upon us.
  21. I'm sure Randy Bush is delighted. He wouldn't bequeath his number to just anyone. Seriously, if Buxton stays healthy I envision a summer of him and Aaron Judge that could echo faintly that of McGwire and Sosa in 1998.
  22. I'm imagining the following primary lineup: Arraez, Buxton, Correa, Kepler, Polanco, Miranda, Sanchez, Urshela, Lewis. Not possible due to Royce's ACL tear, but that is pretty tantalizing to consider.
  23. How many grand slams have the Twins hit this year? I read some place that the most they've had in a season is 8. 3-7 vs. the Tigers and Royals, followed by 5-3 against the top three in the AL East. Whatever works... Also, of all MLB players currently eligible for the batting title, 23 of the top 25 in OPS have at least 20 extra-base hits so far this season -- the exceptions are Giancarlo Stanton (16) and Luis Arraez (8).
  24. Welcome to ABC Primetime. The Summer of Arraez, Buxton and Correa will be fantastic.
