  1. 47 pitches through four innings for Sonny Gray. Wonderful.
  2. Encouraging to see 5-6-7 in the order delivering so well tonight. The Twins will need many of those games after the All-Star break.
  3. Entering tonight: PA necessary for a Twin to qualify for the batting title: 229.4 Buxton: 228 It's weird seeing him go in and out of the AB/HR leaderboard at MLB stats as a result.
  4. Given their venue for the evening, here's hoping the Twins rock and roll.
  5. 1. Welcome to the SEC. 2. No matter the logical soundness of your bafflement, please refer to Point 1. ?
  6. Wes would be assured of a trip there at least every other year before the weather became insanely hot. And I expected someone to point out the geographical incongruence, so thank you...and I love a good BBQ preference debate. ?
  7. Apparently Wes needs routine visits to Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa during the baseball season. Yes, it's THAT good.
  8. Only one run allowed in the last 26 innings. That trend would be nice to continue "at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario"* next week. (*Cleveland announcer Tom Hamilton's standard phrase at the first pitch of a Guardians home game.)
  9. It's a one-hit wonder tonight. More, please.
  10. I imagine tonight's version of Chris Archer with Joe Ryan and Sonny Gray in the regular Twins rotation and smile blissfully. Then I wake up.
  11. Max Kepler has a .562 OPS so far in June. Perhaps clean-up is not the appropriate spot in the order right now?
  12. Gary Sanchez is halfway toward hitting for the cycle. OK, a triple ain't gonna happen. But the above stat in itself is stunning.
  13. Piranha Luis scores the first and drives in the second. I think I'd be happier with 8 of him (and either Joe Ryan or Sonny Gray) than any other possible roster permutation. I'm sure someone has pointed it out, but the Astros no-hit the Yankees today in the Bronx. With 15 K's to boot.
  14. Two introductory thoughts: 1. I suppose that seeing four hitters in the first five with OPS exceeding .820 should make me feel warm and fuzzy. Nope. 2. Did the Twins learn anything from German Marquez's mastery last night that, in combination with nine other shutouts, MIGHT be reflective of a pattern that MIGHT be at the root of their hitting problems and thus require team-wide adjustment? Anyway, time for me to solve the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle online. Back later...
  15. If the Twins lose 1-0, mark this game as the archetype for why they failed to make the playoffs. Bold prediction for a game this early in the season, but warranted.
  16. We now return you to your regularly scheduled sleeping pill (I chose the wrong drug after Byron's strikeout before...my apologies).
  17. The 2022 Twins are on pace to shatter the MLB record for highest standard deviation in runs per game in a season.
  18. Just about time for the nightly fan game of "What Will Rocco Do?".
  19. Luis Arraez keeps getting down with the OBP.
  20. I realize that a key contributor is missing, but this team hitting four home runs off Gerrit Cole in less than two innings and also getting one hit through five innings against German Marquez has got to break the space-time continuum, doesn't it?
  21. Four innings complete in less than 55 minutes. Party like it's 1919.
  22. I'm guessing that the attention of most Rockies fans is diverted this evening, especially if a certain cup is obtained.
  23. That Twins team won the World Series (1987). And it was actually 22.
  24. I once attended a Twins-Yankees game at the Metrodome in which Don Mattingly recorded 21 put-outs. CJ Cron is starting well toward that mark.
