Time to demolish Target Field's center field wall and bring back Metrodome tarp. And stacks of foam cushions behind it.

We made a short drive to Scranton once to see friends staying at the hotel atop the huge bluff beyond left field at the RailRiders' ballpark. Beautiful view -- and much taller than the Green Monster.

You're in Scranton? You definitely see lots of future Yankees. (I lived in Allentown for a few years and saw lots of future Phillies. Not quite the same thing.) A thorough blasting of Cortes and Cole is significantly different from the efforts of previous Twins teams. There's genuine fire alongside the talent, even if it faded tonight. Agreed that better starting pitching will help significantly.

Not in agreement on fetal position. Also confident that this Twins team will not cower to the Yankees on the return trip or in a possible division series. Perhaps contrary to most of you, and I get it. Good to see Buxton en fuego.

When's the last time the Twins beat the Yankees by seven runs?
  6. BH67
38 and 110 over the last twenty years... The Twins have won THAT many?
  7. BH67
Yes, it's time. By the way, I looked through the minor league standings yesterday and discovered that all the following are presently true: Wichita has allowed the fewest runs of any Texas League team. Cedar Rapids has allowed the fewest runs of any Midwest League team. Fort Myers has allowed the fewest runs of any Florida State League team. I'm infrequent to this site, so I'm sure this has been talked about a lot here. Such an "alignment of the planets" causes dangerous giddiness to emerge in me about the Twins' future. I welcome a bucket of ice water if necessary.

"The delicious irony of trading the expensive contract of aging third baseman Josh Donaldson, only to sign the All-Star shortstop coveted by the Yankees with the newly-freed funds, is a breathtakingly brazen and exquisite move almost too delightful to put into words. " Falvine is fine with me for just this reason.

Todd Rundgren currently blaring here just before first pitch...because I just want to bang on the drum all day..

    What is your favorite color?
  11. BH67
Hey! The Purple are only three plays away from 4-0!

    Buxton finishes 2021 with a 1.005 OPS.

Sawx just took a 7-5 lead at Washington on a Devers HR in the top of the 9th and will host the Bombers in the wild card game if they hang on (both 92 wins, Boston won the season series 10-9).

Only if Colome gives up 4 in the bottom of the 9th. So yeah, maybe. No, Alcala stays in.

Yankees just won in the bottom of the 9th. Red Sox tied at Washington in the 8th. Jays rooting for the Nats. Seattle about to go golfing.

A fond farewell is in order to the Cleveland Indians today.
  17. BH67
Alex Colome in a Twins uniform ends this afternoon. Hopefully.
  18. BH67
Maalox Colome in fine form, again.

'Tis a sad thing indeed that a.Minnesota professional sports fan can find joy only in the performance of an Iowa-based affiliate this weekend. Lynx excepted as usual, of course.

I celebrated Twins Mathematical Elimination Day yesterday. I'll do the same for the Vikings on Sunday.

I was most impressed today with the Twins' resilience. The 9th inning could easily have led to a letdown, but they fought through it. 9-and-4 in the last two weeks shows plenty of fight left in them -- and maybe with nothing at stake they go to the Bronx and Fenway without intimidation.

Martin and Lewis will hopefully reveal a less turbulent brilliance together than that other namesake partnership (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_and_Lewis)..

5 and 2 against the Astros and White Sox. Bring on the Ya...oops, got carried away.

The point was made that the Twins need to show that they can develop their considerable talent. Can they? Will they? I'm not knowledgeable enough on advanced baseball metrics as many of you. I am a frustrated Minnesota sports fan who sees former Twins make the All-Star team and draws potentially specious conclusions about the farm system. I also live in metro Houston, where the Astros continue to grow great talent to the majors notwithstanding their recent cheating. And so, I'll wait and see, but with diminished expectations...my roots are Minnesotan, after all.
