  1. Jeffers is traded for a bullpen guy that has a player option after each season for 4 million , I don't see the logic in that and I hope our front office isn't crazy enough to do that trade ... While we are short handed in the catching department , I'm not sure if an extension is wise for jeffers , I just haven't seen enough consistency year to year ... Baseball has changed and they now use two catchers for the season ( if healthy ) to split the equal share of catching for the season ... Believe it or not their has been alot of great catchers that squatted 140 games a season and hit too , you have to be mentally prepared to do that though ...
  2. Good logic doc , While lots of others don't think Vazquez defense is above average , I do , so I guess i must be watching the games with rose colored glasses because i see him doing everything right ... I'll take Vazquez's defense , smarts and durability over jeffers any day ... It's falvey and the pohlads who signed off on signing him for 10 million a year and fans should get over that , we needed a solid catcher and they signed one ... Is Vazquez worth the money , nobody is worth the money that these players are getting , in my day there wasn't so many prima donnas as today , we played because we loved the game ... Last twins player that I have seen play for the love of the game is luis ( major leaguer ) arraez ...
  3. I was on the road all day so I checked into trade rumors and saw the twins made a trade ... I chuckled ... Once a promising prospect , still improving on defense but hitting has gone south of the mendoza line , hope in a year he can get it together with a change of scenery ...
  4. I hear ya , I should have mentioned larnach adjusted better , started hitting off speed pitchers and cut down his strikeouts ... Wallner is who he is , hits the ball extremely hard and far when he connects , but strikeout are way to high , needs discipline in the box ... I'll take larnach over wallner to have a longer career , I'm not always right ...
  5. Martin went through his rookie season better than a few others , with some more experience and regular playing time he could even improve , I to agree his power is not his strength and isn't needed if he hits singles , 35 or more doubles , 10 triples , and steals 30 or more bases he might end up being a leadoff hitter someday ... if Martin can find a groove to get on base in front of players that do have power to drive in , that would be acceptable to me ... runs and rbi's matter more to me than the Twins players that hit to many solo homeruns , I like homeruns , but I like a clutch 3 run homerun better when the pressure is on for a game changer ... We don't exactly know what we have in Martin , some players adapt slower to the major leagues than others , the others that adapt fast are superstars and martin isnt a superstar, need more time to evaluate him ... SWR made better strides this year than anyone ever could imagine , he's going to have to build up more stamina and make adjustments to the hitters , some say he ran out of gas , some say other teams adjusted to him in the last couple of months , whatever the case may be he has work to do ... The coaches also have work to do , you've heard me say that once a player gets to the big leagues , it a level harder to play than AAA , a talented player comes up so the coaches should take that talent and coach them to be a better talent , they are coached in the minors but once in the majors it seems the coaches don't make the necessary steps to coach the highly talented to a faster, better way of fundamental baseball and then they end up as a AAAA PLAYER ...
  6. I see Jax had no rating last year from 2023 , but now has a rating after the 2024 season , I find that odd because he was very good in 2023 also ... I also would switch larnach with wallner , larnach improved his hitting and should continue to get better , wallner got off to a terrible start in 2024 but put together a good not great season in 2024 ... It's a interesting essay to say the least , and if a team wanted a really good shortstop , Correa would fetch a good return from a high revenue team able to take the salary off our books , I've seen it before , Boston would be my guess needing a shortstop and right handed bat , we'll see ...
  7. Some skepticism on Ryan coming back fully healthy ... Remember he pitches with the arm that got injured which is his bread and butter and hopefully my skepticism was is all for nothing ... Good luck in spring training and for the season Joe ...
  8. The situation we are in is crippling the front office , they either go with what they have for 2025 and a payroll of 140 million ... Fans should at least try and get answers at twins fest as we corner falvey with questions ... I'm not going because I stated I'm not spending money on the twins until I see a contender and not a pretender , hope our fabulous writers will be there drilling falvey ( seth or nick would be my favorite to accomplish this ) ....
  9. The team is young and yes that is most of them , are they major leagues or not , yes you need 3 years and 1500 PA ... arraez was an exception to the rule , I knew his first years he was a major leagues ....
  10. Sorry to say this list so far is way out of wack , but its only numbers ... Correa on yesterday's list ... Matthews on today's list ahead of SWR ... There isn't much we know about our young players because they really haven't been in the league long enough to evaluate what they are capable of ( need 3 years to determine what type of player they will be ) ....
  11. Thanks Seth , When I seen the post I got excited we might have an on field player development coach , I did see on trade rumors later that it was more FO personal ...
  12. I'm not concerned with starting pitching unless there are injuries , bullpen the same , we will have depth but how good will the depth be ??? If they don't make anymore moves I'm Allright with it because most of the best players are signed or out of our price range ... I'm fine with the younger players given the opportunity to show if they can stick in the majors , got to give the rookies more of a chance then they did last year ... We've been used to it for years , Calvin years and pohlad years , we played from our development , lately or since our new target field we've gone away from that so it seems ... Build a core from within and bring back our identity ...
  13. I hope he does more than player development , another coach at third base is needed too , so hopefully he can contribute as a third base coach as well and provide player development on the running game and tell the players how many outs there are ... I agree this is a good move and if he ends up as third base coach it will be a great move ... Welcome back to the twins again adrianza ...
  14. I'm surprised that we are even discussing jeffers after this write up ... Cody goes on to say early that he is a solid catcher , then alittle later he says jeffere hasn't solidified a catchers role and towards the end he says jeffers is not good on either side of the ball ... Jeffer is average at best ... We have no depth at catcher but I still wouldn't give an extension , but maybe a trade deadline trade could bring back a nice package with a 1 21/2 years remaining ...
  15. I agree we need catchers for depth in our system ... The fans see the need for depth at the catching position , that means the front office won't give the fans what they want and trade for him ... He could fall in our laps as a waiver acquisition though ...
  16. Not even close , another 4th place finish , detroit and Kansas city have some very good young player and are going to be the team's to beat , Cleveland might faulter some and we finish third , that's my best analysis ...
  17. The 3 teams that made the playoffs from the central division may have not done much , but at least they tweaked their roster on areas of concern , the off season isn't over and I'm sure they will address other needs ... I just have no confidence in the FO to get anything done because up till now they haven't done anything ... with a mandated payroll they still haven't traded the players that could bring the payroll to the owners liking ... If you wanted to trade players for salary relief and possibly have alittle leftover to add back a mid tier player at a mlb contract , wouldn't you try to get them traded so your not handcuffed in doing nothing this late in the off season ... From what some TD readers say , we aren't going to get much back for them anyways , so why is it so hard to make a trade ... Fo office keeps the fans in the dark with no communication and no optimism going into twins fest ... Is that when they will answer our questions is at twins fest , is the payroll going to be 130 or 140 and we arent trading anyone away ???
  18. This is something I did not know, Enjoyed the read ...
  19. I was always rooting for him to get a win but it just never happened ... He made it to the show so he was alot better than those that never had that chance , so he can be proud of being a major league pitcher ...
  20. They are both young , 21 and 20 .... There is time to be patient and let the players develop as they mature ... ,
  21. Love the twins almanac .... Love to jog the memories in the off season , especially since there is nothing else positive about the twins to report on ...
  22. The only good thing in the central is the white Sox will keep the twins from finishing last in the division ... The twins have holes to fill year after year and never seem to acquire the right player for those holes ... Pitching has been strong the past few seasons , defense and offense has struggled with inconsistency ... What's more frozen in Minnesota than the weather is the pathetic pitiful twins franchise ... Rocco is also a frozen stubborn manager ...
  23. I would have to agree that there has been no mention of the twins having a meeting , not by FO or the athletic or trade rumors ... I'm surprised that a few other teams didn't get one ( Atlanta , Boston or Philadelphia , they still may ) ... It's been the 7 you have mentioned , when sasaki was mentioned as a possible posting , in another article I stated Sasaki would sign on the west coast and I'm still sticking to it ...
