  1. The unwritten rules seem to be mostly driven by the old, white, male fan base and the older, white players in the league. Mostly, not all. Younger fans seem to agree that this form of "tradition" needs to go away. With younger players it doesn't seem as clear.
  2. Welcome to the root of the absurdity! How dare you play baseball in a baseball game! Molitor didn't seem particularly convicted in his assessment of the situation, I'm not sure if this is on him or not. If it is - stupid. If it's player driven - stupid.
  3. We might just be saying the same thing in different ways. I think the ruling emboldened people on this sort of behavior, but I also think we're doing this kind of thing in a lot of ways to each other. So it isn't really new, particularly on social media. This is just that same behavior becoming direct.
  4. Is it the ruling that caused this or is it just another symptom of how divided we are? Actions like this seem petty. Serve her a dynamite meal, thank her for coming, and ask her to reconsider the agenda she serves and the harm it causes people and wish her well. Decency and compassion are more powerful than bitterness and petty behavior.
  5. I would imagine they still want him starting, they'll just space him out a bit more over the next few months and we'll see him back after the deadline. I'm just speculating though.
  6. Not until Ron Coomer had a week or two of at-bats though.
  7. I would bet this has to do with limiting his innings. I would consider this the first sign of their intentions this year - it's sell time. We're playing for the future now.
  8. This is all irrelevant. Is truth unimportant to you?
  9. They don't need the Democrats. They literally cannot obstruct the Republicans from doing what they want. Tomorrow every Republican could vote for a plan and it would become law. They have failed to even unite their own party, much less bring on the other party. President Trump and Jeff Sessions implemented the family separation policy. They spent a week unable to keep their story straight about it. Trump spent two days blaming Congress and declaring he "couldn't do anything about it". He then did something about it. He did so after it became clear Congress would fail to deliver a law. These are all facts. Not opinions. Here's the opinion: He wants a wall to stump on in November. He also wanted to be tough on immigration and Sessions wnated to win his favor with a hard line stance. It resulted in family separation, which was a new practice at the border. When the outrage grew, President Trump pretended he was impotent to solve the problem to try and force Congress to compromise on Immigration - he'd get his wall and if the Dems didn't cave they would blame it on them. Except all of that failed miserably in their face. But make no mistake - Trump wanted his wall out of the deal and he was willing to pretend he had nothing to do with the separations, and could do nothing about them, until he got it. That's how he leveraged those kids. Maybe he actually cares about them, I don't know. What I do know is he cared more about politics and leverage.
  10. I've been reassured though? http://memeshappen.com/media/created/2017/09/People-ask-how-things-are-Everything-is-fineVCab9.jpg I think the idea behind outlawing the shift is to try and allow pull hitters to exist again. Major changes are coming though, it's inevitable.
  11. The left did not use these kids. President Trump did. He was trying to leverage outrage into a political win for himself and completely miscalculated the blow back. Let me state this again for you because you clearly aren't hearing it from your news sources: The Republicans don't need the Democrats to help them. If they are so compassionate and so pro-immigrant - they could fix this issue today. Today. Without a whiff of Democrat help. So why don't they? Why is the President literally telling his party to stop trying?
  12. Do you want them to come here legally? I ask because Trump's personal sycophants at Fox are dismissive of the children because they aren't "ours". Trump has asserted the people coming here are rapists and gang members. So I ask - do you want them here legally? Because my impression of the President you love and the side of the political aisle you align with are using immigration as a wedge issue. To stoke the emotions and create a "bad guy". You know - "They're taking our jerbs!" kind of thing. I don't get the impression that immigrants are anything other than a scapegoat/foil. Am I wrong?
  13. Remember those character issues?
  14. You don't think the Trump appeal on immigration is also based on emotion?
  15. Even more impressive that he did that when he was 18 and not even a Twin yet!
  16. Yeah the BoSox announcers suggested Gibson threw up and in on JD because he owns Gibby. So they retaliated.
  17. You should realize as a fellow Arizonan that the wall is basically a big red herring right? It's not even possible, much less a deterrent.
  18. Well, if that was the case, why don't we send military escorts to help them? Or spend all that border wall money on giving people a safe path here? Or maybe all this "trying to help" is bull****. You should probably stop running that lie out there.
  19. Is it possible the Marlins wait until the offseason? Could you take a gamble on Lucroy instead? He's still a good defensive catcher and he has demonstrated an offensive game in the past.
  20. I'm ready to talk extension with him. Worst case scenario you have a versatile player that is very valuable to a team. What would he take? 4 years and 40M? 4/60? The more I think about it the less confident I am in my guesses.
  21. Damn that Thorpe start is nice. I think by this time next year we look at Thorpe and Graterol as our best future rotation pieces. Or at least the ones with the most upside.
