  1. Right, I'd probably want a bit more with both of those guys, but there are definitely deals that could be made. Too bad it's a pipe dream.
  2. I know this won't happen as long as Thibs is here, but I'd call the Lakers, the Celtics, and the Sixers about Butler right now. Be there plan B if they can't land Kawhi Leonard. I think you could get a guy like Kouzma or Jaylen Brown or Saric in a deal for him. Plus, I think pairing one of those guys with KAT and Wig might be better for everyone.
  3. I’m not sure 2019 has to be the concern right now. If the team gets a variety of assets at the deadline, they can be aggressive financially and in the trade market come November.
  4. A hard cap would still fix a lot of this.
  5. I'd start with either having a cap or dont. This Frankenstien hybrid is having the opposite of the intended effect. (Competitive balance) Go the NFL/NHL model or MLB. I'd argue the NHL model would fit basketball really well.
  6. Without Jimmy they are in the lottery, but I would hope to land some talent for him. It's time to aim 2-3 years down the road. Truth is, Wiggins is a negative asset, he can't be moved. Jimmy has one year left and I don't think he stays. And I'm not sure I want to stick 4 years and 130M in him even if he does.
  7. Trade him for Troy Tulowitski anyone? For the record, we're now almost a year into this change from Gibson. It isn't just a half year, this run stretches back to last year. The year of control and the last year of performance should give you some interesting offers. This team needs to sell on players like this, even if you swallow hard while you do it.
  8. I worry about Butler being an injury time bomb. With how bleak the West looks - I'd be shopping him hard right now.
  9. The NBA is so broken. Time to totally blow up their "salary cap" and all the absurd exceptions that come with it. This kind of thing damages their product.
  10. I'd feel better about the line if we had a TE who could help. But I wish our TE could do something helpful on the football field. He's really good at falling down 2 yards in front of the sticks without a fight, but other than that I haven't noticed anything helpful.
  11. So if Lebron comes to the Lakers the smart thing to do would be to sell on Jimmy Butler right now...correct? Not saying it will happen, but that's the smart play now.
  12. There is talent, but they are awfully young and raw. I like the OT from Pitt, but it won't be this year that he's ready to be a factor IMO.
  13. http://www.lawandenvironment.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2015/10/titanic.jpg I'm on it guys!
  14. The OL is a weak group. The plan to start Hill at RT is very worrisome to me. I do think Remmers is a better RG than they likely would've gotten in the draft, but he was paid to play RT. If he's not out there, that's a hole on this offense. I'm worried about the group this year and I hope they look for opportunities to invest in it if there are cuts.
  15. Chief said I'm ignoring evidence about managers. I asked him to post evidence about what makes Molitor a bad manager. I also posted an article suggesting such evidence is nearly impossible to find/quantify. Everyone is welcome to feel like they approve of Molitor or don't. It's like who you choose to like/dislike as a player. Everyone has their preferences. Where it gets silly is when any of you think you have some quantifiable, evidence based reason for it. I might as well start a thread about how "likable" Fernando Rodney is. That's what these threads ultimately break down to. There is no real evidence for anyone's position, just personal preferences.
  16. Everything about this guy is awesome. He has repeated his mold-defying approach at every level. I hope we get to see a lot of him this summer to see if that continues.
  17. Everyone should enjoy Deadpool 2.
  18. Please, post hard evidence. I have yet to see any.....pro or con. As the article I posted shows, it sorta doesn't exist.
  19. Except you are fuming about pushback when there is a "why" suggested. People are saying he is lazy and just doesn't care. That is a "why" answer. People struggle with weight for many reasons, I doubt you'd go down the street pointing at every overweight person and concluding "lazy!"...."doesn't care!" We can be critical and hold him to account without attacking his character. The phrasing is simple: "We need Sano to be less lazy and care about helping us" vs. "We need Sano to address what is holding him back so he can help the team" The former is a personal attack. The latter is totally fair.
  20. The article literally tells us to ignore the time when the team played well under Molitor. And literally ignores how the D-backs played in May. The prior thread brought out such ground-breaking evidence as "He's not Tom Kelly" You know, the guy who couldn't finish .500 for a decade. The truth is - there isn't much evidence. It's all feelings, largely about middle managers. You're entitled to your feelings, but pretending you have anything resembling concrete evidence is a fantasy.
  21. It would make more sense. Let me summarize every future manager thread: I like manager: Every time we play well: "he's awesome! All to his credit" When we don't play well: "Fill in excuse here" I don't like manager: Every time we play well: "yeah but he got lucky, his players are the ones who get credit", When we play poorly: "He sucks, it's his fault" Pretty much exactly what this article produced too. Even managed to do it about another team's manager in the same article! At some point when nobody can come up with a good argument for their position, maybe it's not a topic worth talking about.
  22. After last offseason, wouldn't a 1 year QO be a gimme for Escobar to take? I'm not sure, if the goal is to retain him, that we'd have to go that far.
  23. Perhaps if the arguments sounded more like this....you'd be seeing less push back. Instead it's "He didn't do what his employer needed him too because he clearly didn't care about it" When that last part is added on, that's when you've ventured into much murkier water. Basically from fair criticism to wild speculation. The Twins are concerned, but what their specific concerns are have been kept pretty quiet. Which is how it should be so they avoid giving more fodder to people who want to attack Sano. Last year Sano was an All-Star. He overcame Tommy John surgery ahead of schedule. He overcame the death of a child and played baseball through it. He excelled playing through the minors. If he "didn't care" and was "lazy" - he'd have never made it to the expectations we hold him to. Perhaps you should consider all those factors as well when you are making assumptions about his character because of his struggles.
