  1. I guess we should be thankful every ill-formed thought he has is making it's way to Twitter.
  2. Kinda fits with the theme the last few pages - every one of them should look in the mirror. They are making every GM in the league look wise for passing on investing in them.
  3. 2009 hurts too, but I put 1998 higher on the "hurt" list. They felt like they were playing on a completely different level than anyone else in the NFL. They were doing things never before seen in football. Everything felt like they were the dominant force. They were good in 2009, but never felt that good to me.
  4. Well said. And the counterpoint to this would be to suggest that Dozier is too much of the focus. Well, this is the player demanding to hit in the lineup where he wants. The one who is seen as the offensive leader and clubhouse leader. If that's your position on the team, then expect more responsibility being thrown at your feet too. Especially when you couple how vocal he's been complaining about the FO. He was more subtle about it this year, but nonetheless silly about his complaints. If Dozier doesn't like his buddies being traded, maybe he should try to be less of a blackhole for half a season.
  5. The biggest obstacle to growth is consumer spending power. The vast majority of consumers continue to see a shrinking amount of spending power while corporate welfare runs amok.
  6. 1998 was a special year, I think that one will always sting.
  7. Let's just break down the absurdities here: Rodgers was well out of the pocket, making him a runner. He no longer gets the already cushy rules of being in the pocket. And why you ask? Because QBs have abused leniency in the past when defenders hold up and they don't respect the intent. Second - Barr did not hit with his head. He did not hit Rodgers in the head. He did not hit Rodgers in the knees. He hit him in the waist and followed through with his tackle. Perfectly clean. Third - QBs don't get to hold the ball until the last possible second and then complain about being hit after they throw. You don't want to be hit? There is a rule that allows you to throw the ball away penalty free. Use it or don't complain. I love the game...but rules like this will be the slow bleed that destroys it.
  8. I like the high upside targets, I think that was a brilliant tactic. But you can't finish second on players you want in free agency this year. And this is where all those dollars and bodies you invested into the development system need to pay dividends.
  9. You can't. This rule is stupid. Seriously stupid.
  10. I don't want to see Buxton again this year. DL him the rest of the year and work on him getting stronger and more durable.
  11. The individual, average tax-payer is also carrying a ridiculous percentage of the overall incoming dollars. The Republicans are pushing this to the brink.
  12. Yup, this! I do find it funny how many people are outright contradicting themselves in this thread versus the one about Hanley Ramirez. I value chemistry in a clubhouse. What I don't put much stock in is sour grapes, after-the-fact reflections. Too many raw emotions to treat as accurate.
  13. If even 2 of these guys become the next Eddie Escobar, not a single person on this board is going to be sad about passing up on an 8% chance to get stomped by Houston.
  14. This thread makes me long for that March tradition of "Mauer buys new sunglasses to help with concussions" article we've all come to love the last 20 years.
  15. Sorry, my post came off accusatory, this is a good recap. It's just sorta meh in terms of impact.
  16. This sounds like sour grapes. And I don't think it reflects well on Dozier.
  17. They inherited few movable players of value....why would we expect anything else of the trade results than "meh"?
  18. April 22nd was the last time we were actually at .500. Good luck to Dozier, I think his contract this offseason might be his last, so I hope he has a chance to cash in.
  19. Part of his struggles at the plate may be due to the frequency of his DL stints. I recall his injury earlier this year being blamed for his struggles quite a bit. I don't think the two issues are unrelated.
  20. I'd like to see them act on their words too. Saying them alone probably isn't enough in most cases, but I absolutely want to give them the chance to redeem themselves and contribute to good in the world. I'm not sure many of the mob members would agree with us, however.
  21. This is a movement that I'd like to see succeed. But to do that, like with many other topics being discussed right now on this board, you need to make sure you're doing it in a credible, positive way. One instance like this can wash out the opportunity for progress in 100 justified cases for protest.
  22. I don't know what the alternative is. Part of the issue is the prevalence of toxicity in the social media platforms regardless of the mob. I don't know if there is a fix for that. I think the mob with Hader was appropriately restrained, but I guess your question leads me to another. What is it we want to accomplish? For those that offend, if we deem a mob necessary, what should happen to them? It seems contrition is insufficient. I guess for me, Part of the problem with endorsing the mob is that mobs rarely share common goals for outcomes other than the worst we can imagine.
