  1. Kyle Gibson is not "young" Did people forget KC swept us but a few days ago?
  2. Yes, when a team seems to be pushing a prospect as trade bait, it always gives me pause.
  3. Those are all fair points and why I am not advocating "sell Gibson at all costs for the best return" - there are guys on this team I would say that about, but not him. I would shop Gibson hard, but I'm content to keep him. What I'm not content with is the mentality that we have to keep him. The flexibility you talk about, coupled with young starters we have that should be in the rotation next year, are why I'm willing to explore this aggressively.
  4. Gibson has never maintained effectiveness for more than 1 year to this point. Maybe he's a different guy, but my post was about how large the risk is in investing in him. If you get low-balled....keep him. That's absolutely an option. This team has pitching in AAA that should be in the rotation next year and payroll flexibility. If someone wants to boost their rotation and pays the price, I'd be listening.
  5. Would you take that if you were Gibson?
  6. Great post! I'd just have Wrigley much further down my personal list.
  7. I'm just going to say that this is a poor argument. I hope an explanation isn't necessary.
  8. I don't know how to properly introduce this. But....wow. Well done by Cohen....that was horrifying and hilarious at the same time.
  9. If Gibson was a normally aged pitcher at the end of his team control I'd probably agree with you. But an extension to a 32 year old is a major gamble right from the outset, regardless of who they are. So, sure, there is value in keeping him, but I wouldn't let that stop me from aggressively shopping him.
  10. Depends on the return. You don't have to deal him, but you should shop him. Getting blinded by immediate returns/value over long-term value is just as good a way to make mistakes as the reverse.
  11. Hopefully tonight's start gave the Yankees reasons to call the Twins about Gibson.
  12. No one wants to trade Gibson because they are a "hater", that's preposterous. Seriously. He's 31 at the end of the year, 32 by the end of his team control. He's not a long-term asset, so it's worthwhile to see what long-term assets he might yield in a trade.
  13. Every time I click in here it seems like Kiriloff has a multi-hit game. Promote the man.
  14. I think we can all agree we've seen enough of Bobby Wilson. Garver has some questionable skills back there...but at this point let's give him a long run as the number 1 catcher.
  15. The win is being gift wrapped in November. People don't vote on policy, they vote on emotions and pocketbooks and the left has plenty on both issues to win with. Now how will they screw it up asks the cynic in me....
  16. I agree about embracing policy that is further left....just wrap it in centric messaging.
  17. Peralta is currently in their playoff rotation. You might as well ask them for Lorenzo Cain or Yelich. It's that unrealistic. It's ok not to be enamored with their guys, but if that's your bar for Dozier you just aren't being realistic.
  18. What about Gibson for Gray and a high end spec? That would intrigue me a lot.
  19. I appreciate Jeff Flake's moral stance and Bob Corker's willingness to fight back and resign over his frustrations, but at this point those kind of people are yelling into an abyss. The right's disassociation with truth is really scary.
  20. Twitter mobbing at it's "best"
  21. This is really well said. I'd add one thing.....shame and withdrawal do not seem to be feasible outcomes. I highly doubt the right-wing would react in any other way but escalation. They clearly have no shame anymore.
  22. That isn't realistic.
  23. Doubts are totally legit. Most trade returns aren't going to be amazing and they make take awhile to manifest. We might get nothing for selling in the end. Key word is might. If we do nothing and hold on to these players we are guaranteed to get nothing.
  24. How about another Escobar? If we even land one player like that it'd be nice. There will be plenty to root for the last few months, including the return of Buxton and Sano. Hopefully we'll see some Gordon, Wade, Romero, Gonsalves, or others. There will always be reasons to be a fan, but this season is lost. Sell and get as many lottery tickets as you can for guys like Lynn, Reed, Rodney, Duke, etc. Sell for the best offer on Esco and Dozier. Explore if someone will knock your socks off for Gibson. We don't have to get a mind-blowing return for it to benefit our fandom going forward. I doubt anyone here was jumping up and down about getting Escobar, but we whooped the White Sox in that trade and it has helped lead to more wins for our team. Let's hope we can land a few more guys to help for yearsto come.
