  1. Team had multiple chances to seize the game and failed. Feels like a doomed script.
  2. How can you flag him for that? Total BS.
  3. Great start. We tried....let me see if I got this right: "hand....off" inside the ten? That's legal?
  4. LaTroy seems like a genuinely great dude. I hope he has a lot of success with this overwhelming project on his hnds.
  5. I sometimes think Falvey is his own worst enemy. He might have good people instincts. He'd make a good assistant GM....but in the big chair? Setting out team guidelines for style of play, analytics, etc? I think that's the issue.
  6. I think the better answer is that B-Flo and the defense saved the season by looking like we expected them to.
  7. Came to say this. Eldridge is on the table or the phone gets hung up.
  8. I'm glad we stood pat. Keep your 10 picks....the roster is going to need them next year over some rental in a mid season now.
  9. Good moves by the Jets. CBs have short shelf lives as elite players, to get that haul for Sauce is great for the Jets. Danny Dimes turns back into a pumpkin and those picks could be mighty nice. Quinnen Williams is a beast, but they need to reload that entire roster. They have three good young lineman, a stud WR, and a boatload of nothing. They need those picks to rebuild.
  10. Also...that Falvey video only confirms that he hired Baldelli 2.0. Don't expect much to change.
  11. What blackmail on the Pohlads does Falvey have to keep getting promotions AND throwing the owners under the bus at the same time? At this point I expect Falvey to announce at his next press conference that he collaborated with the Pohlads to be their sole beneficiary of their wealth the next time one of them dies.
  12. I honestly don't see the pressure rate showing up on screen. He feels like "second guy there" pressures. I can't recall a single time he blew up a pocket. He should be a guy they had doing those linebacker twists with and blowing it up....but it was Pace and Cashman. And the night and day difference with the run D seems related as well. I have the same conclusion - Flores doesn't love what he's doing out there. He got his binky back in Gink and was all too happy to sit Turner.
  13. I wish on some plays there was no check/second play. Just "we're running this...hell or high water"
  14. Or it was based on the fact that once Van Ginkel came back he's not worth having on the field. If he wasn't a bust, he'd be forcing his way on there. Jalen Redmond is forcing his way on the field. Eric Wilson is forcing his way on the field. These are guys with no investment of any real significance that are earning their playing time. Flores snatched Turner off the field the moment Gink was available. One guy came back and Turner went from 75% to less than 25%. Guys you spend a first round pick on (and trade multiple picks to move up to get) and can't get on the field even a quarter of the time are absolutely a bust. Part time third rounder? Sure, not a bust. What they paid for Turner? We're in bust territory.
  15. 14 out of 64 is less than 25% of snaps.
  16. My man....Turner didn't play. Some of those tackles were special teams.
  17. I have no idea why my brain blacked out on Murphy...n9t Bynum. Derp on my end.
  18. Great game! My quick thoughts: Defense: 1) This is the front and the interior pressure we expected with this team. The rest of the defense comes together when they can get after people like they did today. 2) Turner was basically benched. We are in bust territory. 3) Murphy was getting picked on all day. 4) This team probably takes 10 points off the board if they wrapped up and finished plays more often. The sheer number of times the Lions pulled off miracle escapes is a bit alarming. But pressure solves all ills! Offense: 1) For ****'s sake run the ball with 4 minutes on the clock, inside the five, and a two score lead assured. Stop being so cute. 2) JJ made some nice throws, played like a winner today. 3) But holy cow was his accuracy off today. Threw behind Nailor who had plenty of room to run on the pick. Overthrew JJ by 5 yards with a missile from five feet away. Almost missed Addison on what could have been a TD. The overturned throw to JJ was wide open if he doesn't basically dirt that ball. KOC is right - he HAS to work on his footwork. 4) There was a lot of pressure today but I chalk that up to KOC. I thought the OL played a really, really good game overall.
  19. Thank you! I hope you stick around and add more "insider" type knowledge to the site. It's a different dimension that I think could add a lot to the conversations here. So I'll ask one more in that spirit if you don't mind: What did you see "good" managers do to help with personalities? Or what did "bad" managers do to sour the clubhouse? Maybe you didn't have both experiences but heard from other players?
  20. Is there anyone here at TD that has concluded differently?
  21. Only the players who we offer more money to than the other teams in the league. /thread
  22. It's nice to see this perspective. Some of that may be confirmation bias on my part because this reinforces what I've been saying for awhile: fans overrate the role of manager in baseball. It's mostly a matter of managing personalities and we have very little insight into that to make any real judgements. I would be curious @Alex Boxwell - what did you see as being impactful in the development of players? What people in professional organizations were instrumental in that?
  23. Reading that in words just ****ing hurts. Our entire system is so broken.
  24. I think it's fair to not hold it against him. I guess I think it's also fair to not feel real inspired by it either.
  25. As pointed out...they do come from the Madden tree. And we fished in the same pond we already fished in. Will he be different as a manager from Rocco? Sure. Maybe. I personally think managers are mostly irrelevant in today's game (and probably were most of baseball history), but I don't see any reason on the face of this to believe this hire ushers in a new culture. A new style. A new plan of attack. I'm not expecting this decision to move mountains or sell tickets. But I was hoping to see an indicator that the wind direction was changing. Someone like Hunter at least brings a totally different type of person to the job. Punto's rep as a player would've had me thinking that way. Even someone from the Counsell tree, a college coach big swing (SF style), or a grizzled minor league coach with development chops: they all might have given me some reason to hope. This guy just doesn't. I hope I'm wrong.
