  1. This is what I see as well and reminds me again that he still has less than 500 games total in all levels of pro ball in 6 years. Very little of it uninterrupted by injury. He just now has 100 games at third. A lot of what we see is coachable and technique related and a lot is just experience and reps. I'm of the mind that I want to see him there for a healthy full season but I'm also afraid he might just not be a major league 3rd baseman. I don't have a lot of memories of his time at short but 55 errors in just over 300 games (.955 field %) is unfortunately very similar to what we are seeing at third now. The Padres might be one to emulate here. Former (well paid) SS Tatis is platinum glove in right, Uber SS prospect Merrill is a stud in center. Even Profar came up as a SS. Lewis is probably a darn good left fielder at the end of the day and Boras is well aware that if he is winning gold gloves and raking he gets his money anyway. The longer he stays at third, if he in fact cannot play there long term, only lowers the value and risks injury. Having legitimate dudes to fill in behind him helps. The next 12 months will tell us a lot.
  2. For those that read past headlines, that's not what those articles say. It's circular reporting, remember playing the telephone game?
  3. No reason why they wouldn't put claims in for the very best candidates. The depth of the roster would keep them from claiming a ton of folks. I'm putting a claim on Scherzer but not many other starters, preferring the cost and fit of relievers. I'm still at a stud starter or nothing. Very interesting strategy considering these rules are relatively new. They almost certainly affect deadline values as Falvey and others scout of the Rangers would have seen this as a good possibility. Where? Who has this rumor? Show me one report, even non-credible, that the Pohlads nixed a trade over money. Stop with this crap. I'm begging for one bit of actual journalism or editorial standards to pass onto this site. Didn't even bother to hot-link something that didn't say what you inferred. Terrible. Stop it. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if your Twinkies can't add $2m waiver claim for an obvious roster improvement, the news is so, so much worse than even your most Minnesota woe is me cry fest could imagine.
  4. E-rod to the 60 day? He played two rehab games in early July but that's it since June 5th.
  5. I always thought his problem was too many strikes? Too many bad strikes.
  6. It will catch up to them eventually.
  7. Still mad I missed Zebby in Wichita. Barely made it out for one Morris start, like him too. He's got some moxie.
  8. I'm sure they would have done something with it. I have a Rapsodo for golf of my very own-its was like $500 or something. The tech is much cheaper and they would have to have it in some form. I'm just not sure they would have aggressively pursued it though and would have been behind the 8 ball.
  9. And that's not including whatever they did behind the scenes in training facilities and technology that was not there when they took over.
  10. Now that there's been a couple injuries I can say it. Whatever they are doing with the internal guys to add the velo doesn't seem to be adding injuries at a high degree. Most of the injuries are the guys we knew were injury risks already in Preilipp, Stewart, Paddack. It gives me some degree of comfort with someone like Raya as well. I haven't looked into other teams Tommy John rates in the minors but the college arm type probably has something to do with the health component as well. Course, I just messed it all up. Arms are fickle things.
  11. No, but you don't win any trophies without a 90ish win season first. Game theory dictates drawing the most winnable tickets.
  12. Truly, the best fix for what ails the pitching staff is for this offense to come alive.
  13. Every time you purposely misrepresent someone's opinion you call undue attention to your lack of critical thinking skills. No wonder talks never advanced.
  14. Member when everyone was confused why it seemed like they were trying to sell him for Flaherty? Good timing for the surgery, just after the deadline. He's been hurt for a while.
  15. Wondering how much Keaschall injury affected the deadline. We may not have known, but other teams did.
  16. Just another excuse for inserting the "self-imposed" modifier for no reason. Extension? Crazy talk. He will either be a really nice trade chip at the deadline or a nice piece of a championship roster. He's not going to get 10m AND steal playing time from Lee, Julien, Keaschall et al.
  17. My big dummy is sad about Joe. He would be more sad to get kicked offline.
  18. I dunno either, that's why I asked.
