  1. He'll be up sooner than later. My only real concern is they don't have Maeda and/or Mahle on a short enough leash if they're struggling. I've got reasonable confidence in the other three for now. If they were willing to stick it out with Pagan all year after that mess, I gotta think there's no way they don't let those two try and fight through it even if it looks obvious to everyone else they got nothing in the tank.
  2. They are truly embarrassing themselves with the pagan thing at this point. I'm at a complete loss. You'd think the Minnesota twins would jump at the chance to save a few million it defies explanation
  3. There is a quote in the recent athletic article about him saying he vents his frustrations to his wife. What do you think they're talking about? He grouses about his bosses at his job like everybody else does!
  4. But it does make a statement of confidence to the players which I'm sure is not nothing to them. Ober has a deserved chip on his shoulder now. Why create the unnecessary animosity with the players. Let the most deserving guys get the roster spots stop playing games
  5. Coloumbe was clearly deserving of pagan's spot after the spring they both had. Pagan continues to live rent free in the minds of falvine. Actually they are paying him 3.5 million for the privilege. And why not dobnak in long relief instead of sands?
  6. Misspoke - he was 16 when they signed him in 2016, but 19 by the time they traded him from Elizabethton. He was a bit young for his level then, but really nothing that jumps out at you from his time with the Twins. Looks like he put it all together with the Giants, and good on them for spotting him. Why they would give him up for a now injured and about to be 30 utility player that can't hit... Giants haven't had a great year transactionally.
  7. https://www.mlb.com/news/prelander-berroa-impresses-in-cactus-league-opener Anyone remember this guy? Twins gave him away in the Sam Dyson trade. He was only 19 in Elizabethton at the time, so still a ways away, but he'd look good in Ft. Myers right about now! Giants subsequently gave him away just recently for Donnie Walton, which is considerably less defensible...
  8. I think I remember Keith Law saying at one point that he somewhat arbitrarily set the cut off for "ace" as one of the top 15 pitchers in baseball. Not all teams have one, but if you assume the best teams have one (or more), that sounds about right. Gray isn't close to being in that group, but he could crack top 50 depending on what metric you're using. Fwiw, Fangraphs projects him at 64 by WAR this season, with Joe Ryan coming out the highest at 33, but I'd bet against them on that one if he stays reasonably healthy.
  9. If they had to lose megill or sands for a good lefty reliever I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it
  10. Urshela and Kepler were and are both expendable.
  11. Chafin or Matt Moore sound better to me but I doubt they'll be willing to pay for either of those at this point (2 yrs ~15MM) I would guess.
  12. HIPPA applies to medical professionals and other related entities. Employers - including sports teams - aren't covered under the law. Athletes consent to share their medicals with their employer/team when they sign their contracts, and the employer/team is free share that information with the media.
  13. Twins did really well (lucky) to get two prospects in Lee and Prielipp who had the talent to go higher - much higher in Prielipp's case - in the same draft. Has the potential to be an all-timer of a draft class if both realize their potential Possible all-star infielder and top rotation starter.
  14. This is giving me flashbacks of that pre-falvine revolving door of big hard throwing relievers that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Tyler Kinley comes to mind? I'm surprised any Twins fan at this point would be so confident
  15. I like this trade as well but,,,, AJ for Nathan and Liriano? Don't think that one will ever get topped again, unless there is blackmail involved. If you meant this FO only, then maybe, it's not a long list! If Madea comes in runner up for CYA again, I'll concede that one.
  16. I had assumed this whole time it was Miami that was trying to pry Arraez+ out of the Twins for Lopez, but it was the Twins. And they got a legit high end prospect too. The Twins would have been crazy not to do this. They can replace Arraez' production with players already in the organization (his personality of course - irreplaceable, so perhaps call it a win for Miami in the intangibles department..)
  17. From mlb trade simulator: Total value: 59.30 Lopez SP 38.8 Salas SS 20.5 Total value: 26.6 Name Position MTV ($Ms) Arraez 2B 26.6
  18. I think they need to keep Polanco for now. I'm having some trouble seeing how they make this lineup work without him until they see what, if anything, they are going to get out of the younger guys that could potentially end up at 2b (Lee, Lewis, Martin?). I don't want to see them playing Arraez there. They got roughly two WAR out of him last year and he's only going to make 7.5MM.
  19. This is... not happening, even if they pay Kepler's salary. There's no way they are getting Luzardo and Lopez. The four players you mentioned for Lopez straight up would be about even though.
  20. "Major part" of physical already done for Twins, I'm guessing they would have signed him up on the original 285MM offer before the drama. Boras talked his way out of 80MM for his client on this one. Is that the first huge L Boras has ever taken in his career? Must be others that didn't become public but this is pretty embarrassing for him I'd think. Correa fired his last agent and his new one cost him an incredible amount of money.
