  1. Those thirty-somethings think they know everything! Thinking R A Dickey could/would sustain was bold and all in. Misguided, but committed and brave. I say spend the money. If owners want to own a business that is all about the money, and making more glutinous amounts, don't do it with a baseball team. Owning a professional sports team - any sport - is about having fun AND TRYING TO WIN and giving back to the fans and home city, not necessarily making money! I say hire the Antho man. Anthopalooza time in the Twin Cities!
  2. Hey........ he is only 27! And posters call Park young. Beresford is just a baby! It is a nice thing, to give a guy an arguably meaningless September call up. Good for him. Sad for the fans that would rather be talking about meaningful baseball, but you have to have something to write about, I guess.
  3. I was more important for Pat Dean and Andrew Albers and some new fat guy from San Fran system to get the ball. Meyer? So old news.
  4. Well, at least the first rounder Stewart got an honorable mention. All the pitchers on the lists since 2012, and none have become stars. And Gibson is getting Blackburn worse now too........ what a sad state of affairs from such a touted farm, eh?
  5. I only dislike the trade for Miller. Even if Miller would have been this year's Cy Young winner, I wouldn't have liked the trade. Pitching is just soooo fickle. Pollock looked great in the game in LA last night. Miller horrible. Batting practice. Could have been watching Twins' pitching! If the players perform, all GMs look great. Watching the Dodgers rearrange pieces all year and win..... that is a special front office team. I say grab the Anthro guy and win some games again.
  6. Maybe waiting a week or so more to declare Buxton "fixed" might be in order. The last time he was called up he had a great first week too, and then he settled in, just like the last two games of o-fer. Everyone wants sooooo bad for him to become a force with the bat, but only the test of time will truly be able to do that, not just a week. Here's to hoping, though.
  7. Walker is a classic example of a wasted trade opportunity. He has always been a redundancy from a role standpoint. His value was for trading as part of a prospect package for MLB player(s) when he was at a lower level and selling that he can conquer his strikeout red flag. Too late now. Still a redundancy but nobody thinks he has a real shot now....... except Twins and ABW fans.
  8. Better trade him while he is peaking. Trade high. Just think of the prospect haul.
  9. Better trade Buxton now, while he is at his peak. Trade high and often!
  10. Yup. He just called you a dick right here on polite TD. Hmmmmmmm
  11. Molitor led this team. Ryan supplied the pitching. Pitching, all of it, IS the problem. Trading Dozier won't even dent that continuing plague. Not even a nick...... so why do it? Take the prime years you always hoped for, and get pitching through other means.
  12. Horrible free agent crop this year. Trade for who exactly? More hope and dreams? Trade prospects. Tired of all the failed prospects and their hype. 6 years and that is what isn't changing. Poor prospect choices. Coming up pretty average or worse.
  13. Kershaw is always at peak trade value. Should he be traded. How about Trout? Altuve? Votto. Etc. I get the idea, just not the results. Twins luck may change with Ryan gone.
  14. Or Kirby Puckett until he is done. One or two teammates. Not utilizing prospects to trade at the peak of their hope and dreams value is how you get nothing for what are already redundancies like an Arcia ... or perhaps Buxton before it is over. Danny Santana and Vargas had value once. What a fail signing old man Trumbo was. It is always a good mix that become winners.
  15. Pretty well. They are not part of the problem.
  16. The fad is trade your best players for hope. Hope has never won a world series. Ever. I expected Santana to regress without his juice. And a partially torn UCL to finally go. But no. I don't trade Santana..... or the "replaceable" 30+ homers of a matured Dozier. For what. More hope and dreams? 30 dingers is sooooo replaceable, eh? Happens all the time in a Twins' uniform? How has that been working for this team? All these prospects that pan out? Jump on the advanced stat trade em if you got em bandwagon if you like. I personally like a couple long term familiar family players like Dozier in the midst of hope that only disappoints. May is another mediocre starter that even if he starts, will be a waste of innings. Trade some of the hope for actual producing players. Enough of these posing prospects.
  17. Mujica with 2 walks in 1 inning. Better demote him to AA, eh? Is Vargas just not interested when in the minors now?
  18. .......most of the time. He arguably has the two top bloopers of the year, though.
  19. It's hard not to be a homer when dealing with your favorite team and considering politicking for access is involved. How has Mauer significantly exceeded your projections? Suzuki and Dozier started slow, but the two vets are about all that has. Better luck next year. Always fun to do.
  20. Because he is not really a Minnesota Twins player? Barely in the organization. Is MLB baseball about mercy token appearances and roster spots for drifting strangers?
  21. Crying and vomiting. This season is making an old man real grumpy.
  22. Back in the hunt for the number one draft pick! Oh joy. More prospects.
  23. Nunez traded for a pitcher that is supposedly MLB ready, but needs to be shut down in a month and miss a September tryout even? I must have slept through the reason. Damn.
  24. My prediction is that May is just another inconsistent very mediocre hurler that is part of the continuing pitching problem, no matter where you put him. Like Gibson, Pelfrey, Nolasco, et al, he may have days that give you false hope, put the overall results will be as it has been. If you like 90+ loss season, just keep thinking he can be part of a solution.
  25. Ain't that the truth! And it really doesn't look promising, to me, and my quest to not be paralyzed by hope, in the near future. But to run pitchers out there that have no hope seems so irrelevant.
