  1. Last year in Anaheim at a pre game bar, my son and I saw a fellow wearing a FIEN jersey. I bet my son that was his dad. I finally went over and asked him to settle our bet, and he confirmed and asked what I was hoping he would, "What made you think so, do I look like him?" "Not really, but who else is going to sport a FIEN jersey?" Laughter ensued, and we chatted for a few.... Nice guy.
  2. Does that Trout guy know Sazuki?
  3. Buxton is so valuable in the field, especially with this pitching staff. He catches balls that the rest of them can't even hope to get to, and turn into doubles or worse. It is all in his head, I think. Needs a shrink.
  4. How many sport a Duensing Jersey?
  5. Definitely not Sano or Buxton. Grossman would be my call. Definitely not someone while their OPS is around 1.000, so not Vargas. Plouffe is really creating a problem. The team has performed the best with him out of the chemistry. Smarten up and don't change it. The call for Sano to go down is terribly misguided, I think, especially after Friday's game.
  6. It is really a shame Buxton is so inept at the plate. He is sorely missed in the outfield when he isn't there. Just ugly at the plate.
  7. Hell, I am on record as not liking another mediocre innings eater pitcher that consistently performed worse than his FIPs when he was signed! I love that he can now pitch batting practice for some other unfortunate team. It is amazing how similar Santiago looks physically to Nolasco. It will be like he never left but watching in a mirror. At least Santiago doesn't make us watch him grab his balls nearly as much as the record setting Nolasco!
  8. Some were suggesting this is a big win trade for the Twins. I offered, way back at the beginning of the comments, that the Angels were just as tired of Santiago as the Twins were of Nolasco, and called it a "big so what" trade. The rest is projection. No complaint. But no admiration for the move, either. Ambivalent. Good luck to Alex Meyer.
  9. I agree, Mauer is usually a good base runner. Sure wouldn't know it by his gaffes today. I am not a Mauer apologist, or a hater. It is what it was. Nice to see some hits lately, especially for extra bases.,
  10. Is Mauer OK? Does he need tested? ;-) i just wish it would carrying over into his lackadaisical base running. That was embarrassing today especially.
  11. Today's debut with the Twins is exactly what the Angels grew tired of: doesn't get past the 5th inning, two gopher balls (I love how Santiago says in his interview that he only made two bad pitches the whole game.....), and a couple walks. Hell, he even let Napoli steal second! A big "so what" trade.
  12. I think there is some heavy bias here.
  13. I guess it was a good day for a fire. I still feel this acquisition is a big so what. No upgrade. Nothing worse.
  14. Too bad Buxton can't hit in the show. Sad.
  15. I agree. I love ticket stubs, and don't hate much, but I hate that the electronic and print at home bar code. I want to cash them in when that is the only option for a real ticket, on card stock. It is just another way for the ownerships to be cheap. Make it an option for those who don't care, but never take the ticket stub away.
  16. Officially on the Max Train and watching Portlandia.
  17. Sano was being benched for disregarding signals I bet. But to answer your OP questions, ABSOLUTELY NOT!
  18. Agree about the Hoey comparison. But I love trades for close, and have had enough of takes forever or never. My bet is he never sees the light of the show, or very little of it, especially with the walks and Twins Way.
  19. Again, I never said hate. I said were just as tired of...... you can hate if you like, but your words, not mine.
  20. Me either. Fools gold early..... Coal coming up.
  21. Never said hated. I said they were just as tired of him as the Twins were of Nolasco. I stand by my perception. Please don't put words in my mouth that I didn't say. I originally also stated that this trade was a big so what and happy to not have to watch Nolasco grab his balls anymore.
  22. Not what I hear when listening to the games when driving, but ok. Nolasco is more disliked if you like. 100 million times ? hmmmmmm. The lack of going deep in starts was the main reason. Hard to rate dislike. Posters have done a good job documenting Santigo's work. I don't know that living within 15 miles of the stadium makes anything less or more true.
  23. Again, I was not comparing the two, and especially not comparing a pitcher to a catcher. You are welcome to, if you like. Seems I remember Nolasco going 8 innings or something and only giving up 3 hits just a couple days ago.... past is passed and most would take his most recent outing. Hey, I am no fan, but I can't ignore what I saw.
