  1. The Twins got the best two years of Santana's career. I think we got real lucky. My bet, - he won't even make it back to the show. I am pulling for the young arms, or a real bonafide ace acquisition, and that ain't Santana. AND KIMBREL! GET KIMBREL! I love that pre-pitch stance and look-in.
  2. Really? So you think I wasn't paying attention? A TD guy, and not paying attention. Right. Good o'l Gardy. Did an amazing job with Hicks and Gomez both. I hated it then, always felt Capps was cooked when they got him, and hate it worse now. C'est la vie. Here's to this outfield of Buxton, Rosario, and Kepler being the best in the league this year. All future and no past.
  3. And if Hicks continues his progression and regression, he will maybe be paid way less than his worth for 3 or 4 years and then what he is worth for 1 or 2, and then maybe, maybe more than he is worth for a year or two. Maybe. I can't dis the player or the contract. Seems very fair with risk split evenly to me. The Hicks for .... who was that minor league catcher....could very well go down as a worse trade than Ramos for Capps.
  4. Castro is a lame duck catcher. The sooner that Garver is considered the starter, and Castro the back-up and mentor, the better in my opinion. The passed balls and catcher created wild pitches that was a part of Castro's game even when healthy did not go unnoticed by me. Perhaps it escapes the advanced stats. But I saw them, and remember them. Now, Garver did not impress with a quick brain at times, but at least he is going to be here (probably) the next few years. And I don't really want an OK bat at catcher (and Castro was horrible even before his injury last year). I want a hitting catcher. And a fielding catcher. The sooner the balls and strikes are called by a non subjective method the better. Pitch framing, the art of cheating the reality of the actual location of the pitch, is a bogus skill caused by the inability of baseball to use the best tools available to make the calls more correct. Throwing the guy out at second, less passed balls, and turning wild pitches into blocks instead of creating wild pitches are the fielding skills I like. It will be interesting to see what the arch of Astudillo is this year.
  5. Spring Training All future and no past. I for one, won't be spending it trying to downplay the hot starts by the players that need to be leading this team. Good for Buxton. Good for Kepler. Good for Rosario. Good for Polanco. Sure means something a lot better than o-fers, eh?
  6. While I love this addition.... we are still coming in at 0%, But Hey, we are not alone. 10 teams tied for the bottom third. https://markets.predictwise.com/sports/2019-mlb-world-series
  7. The press and team make a big deal about prospect invites to spring training, but then we see half the teams fielded in spring training with guys like Pat Dean and players from other orgs trying to catch on. It really isn't a big deal at all. "Who are those guys?"
  8. Respectfully, how can you say that? He could have a MVP year and be the best player again, for all we know. That would be great! We can't assume last year will be better or worse.
  9. Trade last year's best player, who is controlable. Not my idea of how to make the(a) team better. There is upgrade pitching available, and it is getting cheaper by the day.
  10. Or trade his quirk to another team. The league is not fooled. The more he pitches to them, the less they will be fooled, but don't use that as a selling point. Use bounce back candidate.
  11. Good teams sign players to improve the team and then deal with what is not as good and move the player. Who cares how? Not me. Mediocre teams say.... we already have so-and-so, so why get someone else to fill the same roll. I really hope this goes through, but the cynic in me thinks that Gonzalez is waiting for the best deal and at the last minute is going to ask the Astros (or they have already told him to just tell them) and he will be back with a team that loved him and can win the World Series again.
  12. So many had a poor year. So why can't they all just have a good year this year, right? What are the odds?
  13. With 3 of the 5 in bold having forgettable seasons (yes... even Hildenberger, when even when his stat line was good early..... was giving up excessive inherited runs and losing games for us, but just for other pitchers on the team), and Rodgers really just breaking out for the end of the season and May still a question without even a full season back from TJ, that is surely a bold optimistic stance.
  14. These are wonderful! Thanks much. Is it just me, or does it show how hard it is to have and keep real good baseball players, and that they are really few and far between.
  15. I like the baby/toddler in front of the driver rider on the small motorcycle with the passenger on the rear at 1:55 and 2:15 (that passenger drinking beer). Now that's a parade! This clip shows even more possiblities of sordid injuries waiting to happen.... and some interviews
  16. The ONLY one to get is Kimbrel. Sure, he could fall off the earth and become horrible. But at least we would have tried instead of just hoped and prayed. Plus, we really don't have a mountain man beard on the team yet - or did he shave to start the new year? I am so tired of the crap that other teams don't even want anymore, but this FO sees as ready to fix. Until they get a couple of successful reclaimation projects under their belt, why does one think this staff can be the saviors? Last year, they did just the opposite. Took a consistent Reed, and he totally tanked. Same with Lynn. Kimbrel. Kimbrel. KIMBREL. KIMBREL! And then get Marwin Gonzalez. I can't believe he is still available.
  17. I miss so much, not being a twit. I can't even get the tweet to transfer in the qoute and format right. Now the leg seems different than the heel, to me. And a what the hell kind of shoes was he wearing if this got his heel so severly cut scraped against the metal of the stairs? Maybe he was barefoot? Hey, I know it doesn't really matter what happened, and it only matters how it gets corrected at this point, but when I see BS and hear BS, it just makes my mind go crazy with speculation, regardless of its worth.
  18. Ah.... but all teams are in the same place, in a way. There is the new season, and all teams have the hope that the talent will shine and the rebounds will happen and the breakouts will breakout and prospects become MLB players that force their way on the roster and the injuries will be minimal and the stars will shine instead of dim. It sure is a different attempt at the same result .... a lot different than stand pat and hope. But they both can prevail. Or fail. Play Ball!
  19. "There is no structural damage to the bones or ligaments in the foot; the boot is only a precaution to immobilize and protect the area so that the wound remains closed and clean. According to manager Rocco Baldelli, the Twins plan to keep Sano in the boot for 7-10 days, during which Sano will not participate in on-field drills........... ......Baldelli said the injury was sustained around the time of the celebration of the Dominican Winter League playoffs last month, when Sano won the league championship with his team, Estrellas Orientales." "The injury was sustained around the time of the celebration". Just what does that mean. What is the big secret. Why can't anyone say exactly how it happened, and what happened? Happened during the celebration? While on the field? In the clubhouse? Out drinking later? What? It makes me think that it happened foolishly and they don't want to say..... Plus, the playoffs ended on Jan 26. Why is this just being dealt with by the team, now? That was 3 weeks ago.
  20. Pujols wasn't a DH when they signed him, from the National League. That happened over time and injuries and age, well after the contract.
  21. Great. Just great. Reminds me of Wartman waiting until spring training to deal with his wart.... even though it isn't even close to the same.
  22. Whatever. Vets that suck get way too many starts. Probably still will this year (can you say Perez and Parker?). How about this creative idea..... put the best pitchers on the team! And 24 isn't "young". 20 and 21 and 22..... that's "young". Talent shouldn't be confined by age. Hell, Harper and Machado are 26, and they are 'old', and can't even get a long term contract! Time to sign Marwin and Dallas and Craig! Especially Marwin.
  23. At this point, I would sell the future for one year before I die, and hoping that doesn't happen first. Just one. Just one shining flaming season. Just one World Series Championship. Just ONE! ...... and hasn't the slow and steady been the approach.... like...... forever?
  24. It would be nice if these top 5 farm systems actually create a top 5 MLB team, eh? Fun to read about, though.
