  1. Cuzzi can't see balls and strikes any better than he can see the foul line!
  2. That is exactly why umpires still calling balls and strikes is bogus. Did you see that curve that Kepler took that was in the middle of the zone and a good 3 to 4 inches up from the bottom of the zone? And Cuzzi called it a ball on Bauer? Poor umpiring is the reason for most bad calls, and yet, people want to make up a fake stat like pitch framing. This can only be fixed one way, and you know how that is. It is not the catcher.... it is the umpire. The whole premise of pitch framing is to cheat the reality of what happened. It is time to get balls and strikes right, without trying to cheat.
  3. Parker in the 9th with the game tied. Yuk. And not the funny yuk. What a waste of a Odorizzi's great outing. We probably aren't going to get many of those. And Parker in the 9th. Shaking my head. May gets no trust after a single, but Parker stays in after a single and 2.... count 'em... 1, 2..... wild pitches in a row. Still shaking my head. Buxton still hitting. No one else is. Mind you, Bauer and Kluber are formidable. Still. How about some hitting.
  4. 92. Gotta go for the gusto and have something to hope for.
  5. I can't forget that even in his 2 good months last hear, he at one point in that lonely stretch before "overused", gave up 7 runs in a row from inherited runners, losing games for the team and his other teammates and infecting their stats, while his stats remained unblemished and made him look better than he was even then.
  6. I tend to, but not here. Just straight forward for this one. I am tired of so called good stories. I want a good story that brings a winner, not a passing novelty that costs us games.
  7. Half a dozen even worse. Swell. That is still so not encouraging.
  8. 11 innings and sss is thrown out the window for Harper for the sake of a feel good story. Ignore what he did in Rochester. He is the silly Sire of Fort Myers anoitee, apparently. It probably won't cost us that many games before the inevitable happens. I hope. But all games count, no matter when they happen during the season.
  9. To me, a minor league 30 year old making the team is not a great story. Kimbrel in the pen..... now that would be something to get excited about. And I just never get the fascination with chubby ball players..... but then when I look at the audience..... maybe they just like to see someone more like the beefers watching. And Hildenberger? Seriously?
  10. It would be nice to see Marwin heat up a bit before the start of the season. Even a little bit.
  11. I can't get to Target.... but I go to a bunch of games at Dodger Stadium (including the 3 game sweep the Twins suffered in July of 2017 and watched Granite throw it to a base where there was no one there to lose a sure win, Molitor totally blow a double substitution, was forced to watch Colon for a game, and watched Rodgers and Kintzler implode and the Twins score first in every game and give up 1, 2 and 5 run leads... argh) every year (I love to see MLB games, no matter who is playing) and always brought way better food than you could get at the park. Same type of policy. At Angel stadium (was in left field when Pujols #600 landed 20 feet away against us), too. No need to line the pockets of the greedy hand.
  12. Kyle Gibson (Missouri, NCAA-1, three seasons) 3.66 ERA 63 games (29 starts) 259.0 IP 304 K (10.48 K/9) 0 HR 61 BB (2.10 BB/9) 1.16 WHIP 9 SV Gibson didn't give up one dinger in college in 259 innings? Is that right? That is pretty amazing.
  13. I guess we will know....... in August.
  14. I can't wait for the leash to be longer in the regular for when Odorizzi is getting bombed in the first inning and giving up more than 5 runs. I sure hope he is ready for the season. Austin will have to make the team, or he will be gone and picked up.
  15. That Tanner English is "depth" is kinda depressing. .233/.313/.417 for an outfielder, any outfielder, is NEVER "appealing". The whole modern day acceptance of center fielders and catchers and shortstops being bad hitters, and that is acceptable even with elite fielding, is hogwash. Every MLB player, when all they do is play baseball, needs to aspire and acheive hitting and fielding. For a line like that to be 'more appealing' in center than right is just settling for mediocrity.
  16. Me too, no hashtag. There really is not reason not to have both, though. The idea that it would be horrible to lose a draft pick, a draft pick that probably will never make the bigs anyway, is just silly. Just think if we would have lost a Levi Michael, or a Tyler Jay for a top line pitcher. It would just crush me.
  17. I would say get him if available after the QO expires.... but we have had horrible luck with late signing of players that missed all of part of spring training. Seems they are working out, but it doesn't help much.
  18. Nope. He was definately Cat Stevens when he wrote it (or maybe legally still Steven Demetre Georgiou), just as Lew Alcindor (Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr) played for UCLA and Cassius Clay knocked out Sonny Liston. (In fact, Muhammed Ali - Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. - apparently never legally changed his name........ https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/boxing/2016/07/11/muhammad-ali-name-change-cassius-clay/86956544/ .......) But now I am miles off topic.......... miles from nowhere....
  19. Back on topic. While Marwin can step in at third, this limits his special use. Fate and blame aside, Sano seems snake bit. Over and over and over. And over and over and over. He will turn 26 before he takes the field again on May 11. This is disgusting. Baldy was even down there visiting. Why wasn't he immediately flown to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester? This is total irresponsibility and mismanagement, in my opinion, by the Twins staff for not taking total control of this from jump. Man, Sano needs constant supervision, apparently, or he will find a way to find bad luck, I guess, if that is what you want to call it. 26 on May 11. And after the little injury to Santana that took him out the whole year..... and maybe ends his career....... If Sano was slow before, this is not going to help, even when it heals. And his present value? Hardly anything. now.
  20. With a 40% K rate..... and a .211 average..... I would often take a bunt. Way more exciting than a walk, and fielders have just as much chance throwing it away for more bases as the poor power hitter has of hitting into the shift or striking out or grounding out or walking or...... Maybe Sano will actually be on the field at some point this year..... what a fiasco.
  21. Most other teams probably aren't practicing fielding bunts as much either! It surely would be a weapon to bunt on them, especially with the speed on this team and the shifts.
  22. These boards really need the season to start. Billy Bob says it best......
  23. Rooker hits a deep dinger, and the announcer could care less. So what if he is in the middle of an interview.... show some excitement! Go Twins. on Sano: "A teammate on his Dominican Winter League team slipped and spiked him him in the Achilles, requiring 12 stitches." So I have now heard achilles, heel, leg ....... is this the first person observation version... the achilles, or is this another second hand relay? I have head that the stairs cut him... and now he was spiked? Stange that the whole incident has become a mystery.
  24. Hey! Not a utulity player! Watch it now. "Can I make a correction? Not a utility guy," Baldelli interjected during Gonzalez's introductory press conference. "And I only say that just because it's something I've heard used before all the time. We consider Marwin an everyday player. He's just a multipositional everyday player."
