  1. So the last two Odo games.... he loads the bases, and Baldy calls in two minor league pitchers... Harper, and Vasquez...... and they both allow all inherited runners to score. WTF. What is wrong with his brain?
  2. 11 pitches ... 2 strikes....
  3. It's one thing to have a team beat you. But Baldy just gives up the game with this unexpainable move. What is he thinking????????
  4. Just dumb to put in Vasquez........ top of the lineup, too. Baldy.... calling Baldy.... wake up!
  5. I got a bad feeling.....
  6. Serioulsly? Vasquez? Nothing like working him in gently........
  7. Now he can walk Syndergaard too and not give up a run.....
  8. Looks like the switch went off and Odorizzi has lost it.
  9. Dare I say it? No-hitter through 4.... Would be a perfect game if not for those 4 strikes called balls to Rosario.
  10. Just under 12 pitches an inning for Syndergaard. He may be in this game for a while. Odorizzi too.... De Jong did the same 46 in the ninth last night....
  11. Syndergaard is getting called strikes for all those at the top of the zone... and Odorizzi just got 3 in a row called balls that were strikes.... the same place as Syndergaard! Make that all 4 to Rosario.... two were definately strikes.... and the other two borderline....
  12. I was amazed they called on him in the first place, being such identifiers of pitching (as their calling card goes) and all...... seems to me it was pretty clearly identified by his other outings last year. At least his 46 pitches came in a meaningless manner for the games result.
  13. Because Gibson has not found consistent command of his pitches in all of 2 starts to begin the season.... does not mean he is "nibbling", as trendy as it is to accuse him of. Missing is not nibbling. Gibson seems to be the Rodney Dangerfield of the Twins staff. Maybe one day he will actually get some respect. deGrom should be chastised for the same, I guess.
  14. Buxton swung at a slider about a foot outside just before he hit one of his doubles on a high fastball.
  15. I too was old enough.... 13 in 1968. I was wondering... just what was he clocked at 103.4 with in the 1960s?
  16. I guess there is always that hope that it will change, and the Ks will be reasonable and the fielding will get good enough.....but I think you pretty much do know, and when they face even better pitching and fielding than the minors, things aren't really going to change. But hope is captivating, if not productive at times.
  17. All of that and Stewart only gets charged with one earned run. Sometimes the stats are kind.
  18. The Dodgers will have guys up and down all year. The are masters at maximizing the still 10 day IL, too.
  19. 3rd base production has been horrible. I don't know how much he will have to work. He will be welcome. He can't really do any worse, but I hope he will be "extra-motivated" just the same.
  20. Most encouraging part of the game for me was to see Hildenberger, a purveyor of inherited runners scoring, come in with the bases loaded and needing one out to get out of the inning.... and he did! That is how you spell relief! I really cringe when I see a one sentence statement that makes it appear that Harper has performed flawlessly. Against the Phillies in the first inning with the game only 2-0 on Friday - he let the game turn into a route and let all 3 runners with two outs score on the first pitch - a 74 mph hanging curve right down the middle that was blooped for a bases clearing double! (Albeit with some defensive gaffs) Just saying "Harper has now pitched 3 ⅓ scoreless innings for the Twins" really is not telling the story. He did get the last out in the 8th after Rodgers had to be lifted with 2 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd on Sunday. So he is 3/5 inherited runners scoring. That is also part of his young story. I love that a Gibson was on the mound opposing deGrom when he was prevented from breaking Bob Gibson's record. A tie is good enough, especially since most of Gibson's streak was complete games. Third base production 0-5 today, and continues to suffer. But clearly not needed today...... De Jong threw 46 pitches in the 9th? Whoa.
  21. All those at bats. For what? I fear Rooker will be the same. It just seems like a waste in the end.
  22. "Perhaps Willians Astudillo's influence is rubbing off on his teammates. Led by the nemesis of the three true outcomes himself, the Twins' lineup has largely found ways to put the ball in play so far, as Minnesota's 61 strikeouts rank second-fewest and 23 walks are fifth-fewest in the Major Leagues." Strikeouts is good news and a good trend. Walks.... not so much. The old pace myth is back I see.......
  23. Sure would be nice it these guys could get some hits. What do they say? Good teams find a way to win close games.....
  24. Dozier ripping it up with a .080 average to start the season for the Nats......
